COASTAL Field Service - The coolant reservoir missing its electrical connection.

    COASTAL Field Service

We were requesting an appointment for RV service as recommended by Ranger at Thousand Trails park…read more Sent a text to field rep who suggested we contact the office. Tracie at the office said she would get back to us that day or the next regarding an appointment. We lost two days of needing RV service waiting for the call back. She never did call back and even after a msg to field rep, we still did not get the courtesy call. Thus, a few days was cut out of our availability for a repair as is obvious from being at the beach in RV park. She should have had the courtesy to call us back one way or the other.

It was functioning on the one remaining belt. I brought them the Chevy at 11a Monday and they were done until 12p Tuesday and demanded in an aggressive way $1350. At the end of the day Monday, neither belt had been installed after working on it all day. So the Chevy is in limp mode, they neglected to connect the coolant reservoir so my ECM reported low coolant. One of the clowns, I think it was Bobbie, said it just needed a little coolant, but in fact they disconnected the reservoir and didn't bother reconnecting. They threatened me physically when I balked at the $1350. Sean, the owner got in my face. He apologized later, but the apology didn't stop him from doing it all afternoon Tuesday when I came to get the car. I sent them a picture of the coolant reservoir as I couldn't initially find the connector plug. Several hours later I received this answer, "Ya. Ill mention it to him." The truck remains in limp mode. It's Thursday the 17th. I showed them it's a 3 hour job with a written estimate from the local Chevy dealer. They might be good fixing a mobile home toilet, but I wouldn't let them work on an engine of any kind. They have no idea what they're doing under the hood.

Call to Mobile West resulted…read morein them telling us to bring it in but no work would be done on it until Monday and they were closed by the time we limped it down the highway 11 miles. Monday morning we were there within 1/2 hour of their opening. Shocked by the amount of the estimate that was written up, but went ahead and made a deposit. Then we had a second thought, call our insurance company to see if the repair could be covered or possibly have the RV totaled as the estimate was barely lower than the actual value of the RV. It was as if a switch went off. He changed from personable and helpful to 'not happy' about this change of plans. He said he didn't deal with insurance companies. We tried to clarify his statement by asking if he would at least talk to them about the estimate, thinking maybe we would have to pay him ourselves and then get reimbursed by the insurance company. He repeated his statement, 'I don't deal with insurance companies!' He did return our deposit, however and we left there with a promise to let him know ASAP what the insurance company said. Monday after closing he called us to see what our plans were. We had no answers that soon as our agent referred our claim to an adjuster and the adjuster would be doing the investigating. We spoke to the adjuster but he told us he wouldn't know anything until the weekend. We expressed the urgency of the situation as we were 2500 miles from home, living in a motel now since our RV was in the repair shop. The adjuster said he would try to get an answer for us by Wednesday and we relayed that to Mobile West. He became belligerent and he said if we didn't have an answer for him one way or the other on Wednesday, he was going to have it towed off his property, talking about liability, etc. All day Wednesday we were texting with the claims adjuster but with no answers yet. Wednesday early afternoon we spoke to Mobile West again and he seemed to be understanding that our hands were tied until we heard from the insurance adjuster. Wednesday after closing he called again. This time telling us the police had been called and they would be impounding our RV at 10:00 am the next morning. He wouldn't accept the fact that we were doing everything we could to get the adjuster to give us an answer: cover the bill or total the rig. Conversation ended with us saying we would be at the shop at 10:00am. When we got there he said he was going to treat our RV as an abandoned vehicle and he was releasing all liability. We said that was fine he didn't want him liable for our rig but we didn't have anywhere to take it until we heard if the insurance company was going to cover the repairs or not. By afternoon we heard a towing company had been called to impound it. Luckily, we were able to move it, very gingerly, 1/2 mile away, while we wait to hear from the insurance company. Obviously, whether the repair will be covered by our insurance or not, WE WILL NOT HAVE MOBILE WEST DO THE REPAIRS!!! We are pretty sure the change in personality from morning until evening everyday had much to do with alcohol consumption!

After searching on line we called Tillamook RV Repair just at closing time but we're assured that we could have our trailer towed to their lot...that the back gate would be left open and an orange cone would be set up to identify where to unload as well as a 30 amp extension cord so we could plug in and make ourselves at home for the night. They further assured us that Carl would attend to our problem first thing in the morning. As promised, all was in order when AAA arrived with our trailer and Carl arrived 15 minutes before opening and went to work solving our problem. In the meantime. Mike ( Stumpy) the owner, regaled us with his company's history and introduced us to his lovely wife Cara and all his wonderful staff. Carl replaced our badly damaged wheel hub, replaced thed burnt bearings and grase packed both wheels all in less than 2 hours...we were back on the road before 11am happy as clams, amazed at such unbelievable service that cost us less than $200. Although we live in Washington state we would still be tempted to haul our trailer back to Tillamook RV Repair if we ever need more work done...they are a rare and fair company that genuinely cares about their clients.
