Small but mighty! The staff (owner?) was super nice. Despite the size, there is a huge vintage selection (new, too!) They support local music, too and will help sell some records. OMG! This is one cool place to find records and what not. I've not been here in a year since I lived in Miami, FL so it was great to stop by Roadrunner Records to look for records myself and found a few. The staff was wonderful, friendly and knowledgeable. It's a small store but it packs a huge collection of wonderful music! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! BTW there is just street parking so it does get busy with the residential parking nearby. read more

Worst customer service ever! In fact to use the term "customer service" with this pathetic company, demonstrates huge poetic license. If they actually have a customer service department, All I receive are robot messages when I send my inquiry! I ordered a tee shirt over 9 days ago, it has yet to leave their alleged warehouse! We ordered three other shirts from other companies, the same day, we have received two already and the third is scheduled for delivery Monday. I would be most happy to cancel my order and get my money back, that they had no problem latching on to, then they could keep their heads buried in their basement and not have to worry about catching a cold...as their lame excuse! read more

I love stopping over to Roadrunner every so often. Highlights of this record store are: 1. The albums displayed on the wall are the best of the pick, in my opinion, and the most expensive. I look here first when I enter the store. 2. They have a bin of recent arrivals...check there second. 3. They are very well orgainized. 4. If you are looking for a tickets to a local show that is sold out at The Electric Fetus, check here. I have never been let down. The selection at Roadrunner is not as diverse at Electric Fetus, but I have acquired some great late 70s/early 80s punk/new wave albums here at reasonable prices. And the staff are always friendly and helpful. read more

New releases - fair. Staff - knows stuff. Jazz / Avant Garde / Classical/ Obscure crap - it doesn't really get a lot better, I'm always pleased. If you feel the urge to touch something before you purchase it, this is my favorite of the indie record store hold outs. read more

Why has no one reviewed this yet? What is wrong with you people? Ok, so Roadrunner doesn't have some big endless selection of vinyl and cds but they are really nice people and they are in a good location. Plus, what they do carry is all right up my alley, which is to say that IT RULES. I always find some random 7" there that I either didn't know existed or I did know about but never thought I'd actually find it. I usually just go in for the records but have always found some really good stuff in the cd section, too. Roadrunner always has the new releases I'm looking for (on the rare occasion I'm not some scum bucket who ends up downloading it) plus you can also buy tickets for local shows there. Didn't Will Oldham play a free show at Roadrunner in the last couple of years? Any place Will Oldham plays is alright with me. I mean, he did do a cover of a R. Kelly song AND was in one of the Trapped in the Closet videos. R. KELLY! Screw it, this review is going up to 5 stars. read more

For years I heard about the "Black Oak Arkansas" shrine at "RR" so we went to see it for ourselves, neet-o. they were playing Pink Floyd: Meddle when we went in. So when I told Jim "Dandy" Mangrum (my friend Johnnie Bolin is the drummer in Black Oak Arkansas, Jim's band) he couldn't believe it. He said "Once I was King of the World" Tons o' Vinyl ya'll.................. Not a real buyer of old vinyl records, received a appraisal on my lot of vintage 45 and 33 1/3 records. Person behind the counter said what I had just wasn't in demand. I was treated a lot more friendly and respect at the "Electric fetus" a few miles from this store. So the just of my review is if you are looking to sell or buy go to the "Electric Fetus" and do not waste your time at Roadrunnner Records. read more

Nice little hole-in-the-wall shop in Minneapolis, which still has more than its share of decent-to-good record stores. Mostly used vinyl here, with some CDs. Check the new arrivals bin first. You can make some good finds in this store with a little digging. The guy working behind the counter has always been friendly when I've shopped here. Definitely worth checking out if you're into vinyl. read more

Roadrunner offers a smaller selection of LPs at a higher price point than Hymie's or Cheepo St. Paul. I like what they are doing here, but it's not my first stop for used vinyl. read more

Roadrunner Records is a great place to shop for vinyl especially if you've only got 20-30 minutes between appointments and good joints. That's because you will be on your hands and knees in the 50 cent crates underneath the tables. Buy 20 albums and I think they're 25 cents each. My math be be a little off, but that's a hell of a lot of vinyl for cheap. Given, the selection could land you with some titles you never thought you would want to own such as Bonnie Tyler or Laura Branagan, but it's worth chancing, which leads me to the only reason I did not give this place 5 stars--They don't have a friggin' turntable to listen to your selections. Again, this is a great place to go on a limited budget with no time to actually listen to what you are purchasing. read more

Roadrunner Records is jammed pack with vinyl and cds and a knowledgeable staff that is all about the music. You can find Boyce & Hart to the Style Council to Husker Du! This is the kind of place to spend a rainy day and dig up some classic albums, especially from the '70's and '80's. Their selection of Punk and Minneapolis Music is especially great. I've been shopping at Roadrunner for over 6 years now, and here's why: Sure, a CD here might cost $1 more than one at Best Buy, but I guarantee you will not find better service from a more knowledgeable staff at Roadrunner. I have asked about everything from 'The Decemberists' to 'The Kinks,' and they have never steered me wrong. And if they don't have it, they order it (even if they don't normally carry it) with no extra charge above retail. But here's the #1 reason I will continue to give these guys my business: Recently, a new album came out by my favorite artist, and I went to the nearest Barnes & Noble to buy it because I just really wanted to have it, right away. When I arrived, not only was it sold out, but the customer service person had no idea when another shipment would come in, nor did she try and find out. I called Roadrunner, and not only did they hold it for me, but they held it for 5 days. I showed up a few minutes past closing time to pick it up, and an employee opened the door just so I finally could buy my CD. He was also incredibly nice about it, even though the poor guy probably just wanted to get home! As for used vinyl, I've only just started buying it, but so far, I'm pleased with the quality for the price I paid. $4/record in very good shape. read more

I just bought a DVD of The Who live at The Cow Palace in 1973 yesterday for only $19! They have a good selection of music, but mainly real records. You can find some deals in the used section, and the new ones are fairly priced. I have to go back and see if The Who poster on the wall is for sale. Treehouse records has great posters on the wall, but I don't think they are for sale. If you have a turntable you should visit this little record store. read more
