I had a disappointing experience trying to schedule a driving lesson. Because the website appears to be outdated, I reached out by text to arrange an appointment. After finally finding a time that worked around my son's school schedule and doctor's appointment, the owner told me to "try a bigger driving program" instead of helping me schedule. The interaction felt dismissive and unprofessional. Rather than working with a potential customer, it seemed like my business wasn't wanted. Based on my experience, I would not recommend booking with this company. read more

I went years without a drivers license due to living on campus for years and dealing with driving anxiety. After many anxiety inducing attempts with other driving schools, I came across this page and decided to reach out to James. He helped me get past my terrible anxiety and has made me a more confident and comfortable driver. Without his help, I probably would be struggling still to get my license. If you need someone who's calm, but still challenges you based off of what best fits your personality, James is the instructor you're looking for. read more

Highly recommend Roadmaster! James the owner has a very calm demeanor. He taught my daughter how to be safe on the roads and also practiced some of the areas the driving test could take her. Thank you! read more

James is a thoughtful, friendly and kind instructor. Right before my son's 3rd and last driving lesson, James got rear ended and his car was totaled. We thought we would have to wait weeks before getting the last lesson with him due to the accident. However, James took the time to call multiple driving schools and secured the last lesson for my son in just 3 days! And the very next day was the behind the wheel test which he passed with no problem! We are so thankful for James and will definitely go with him for our younger son's driving lessons next year! Thanks so much, James! read more

We had a great experience with Roadmaster Driving School. James is such a knowledgeable, professional, patient and supportive instructor. Thank you! read more

James is a very thoughtful and kind driving instructor. Unlike another company we used, James doesn't just send anyone to teach your child to drive. He does the work himself and takes the time to get to know your new driver before and after the lessons. James definitely has the "safety first" approach. Our son passed his test on the first try. We will 100% be using him again for our younger son's instruction. read more

Roadmaster Driving School - Passed! - Driving Schools Near Me - Costa Mesa, California

I chose Roadmaster Driving School for my daughter based on a referral and I've already referred Roadmaster to a neighbor who has a son approaching driving age. James is an excellent communicator. I would think that as an owner/operator of a business, it would be difficult for him to find time during the day to reply to messages, but James was always very prompt and professional. His report card after each lesson helped me as a parent know what my daughter needed to work on when she was practicing behind-the-wheel with her mother or I. In a couple of years when our son gets his driving permit no doubt we'll return to Roadmaster Driving School. read more

James is an educated, easy going, flexible driving instructor. The price was comparable to other companies. I hired him for both of my daughters and they both passed their driving test their first time. He also knows the Westminster DMV driving course & will prepare your child for the driving test! James is low-key, easy-going, professional, effective and reasonably priced. He took my daughter from first lesson to last and she passed first time. I'll be using him again when my son is ready next year. Call him for a quote - you'll be pleasantly surprised. P.S. The review from T.B. below reads like a hack job. Anyone who's met James knows he is about as far from rude and aggressive as you can get. read more

I'll be honest, I don't write reviews but after having 6 hr lessons with James and another 2 1/2 hrs at the DMV, he is definitely worth taking the time to write this review. Only because this is the most time I've spent with a stranger (who is no longer one!) and he certainly made a lasting impression! SUCH a nice guy! He was definitely the kind of instructor I was looking for. Someone who was patient and lenient with me. I can't handle anybody that is strict or lack social skills because it would make my driving experience worse! I've had multiple permits but never had the courage to step further in getting behind-the-wheel so I called a couple of schools. What sold me was his inexpensive package! Other places charge you more...unfortunately... And on my first try I got my license today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SOOOOO HAPPY!!!! :D I HIGHLY recommend him! Only because he actually does care and he tries to make it a fun experience which was a plus. Definitely one of the most interesting people I've met. Haha. read more

So glad I called here for driving lessons for my daughter! I searched Yelp reviews and talked to friends to get a good idea of what is available. I heard from many (and saw in the reviews) about schools where the instructors speak little English and/or have the teen drive them around on their errands for their "lesson"! Not James, he took my daughter through neighborhoods on busy main streets and on the freeway (I'm not brave enough to take her on the Fwy yet!!) and on her final lesson took her through the route that our local DMV will take her out on for her test drive. Soon my son will be ready for his lessons and I will be right back at Apex! read more

James was a great driving instructor. My son learned quickly from him and passed his driving test on the first try. I really liked that he came to our home to pick up my son too. James discriminates against the disabled, he refused to teach me because I have mild Cerebral Palsy, he judged me based on how I looked. He stated he wasn't qualified to teach me which is a bunch of B.S. I haven't driven in years but I did in high school and did fine. M;y best friend took me driving a couple weeks ago and I did fine and he's a doctor, you know a doctor is gonna be flat out honest with you, best friend or not.9 read more
