This is purely my personal experience. I acknowledge that Oscar might not have been good a fit for me as an instructor, which probably affects my perspective. I have driving anxiety and even made myself a bit nauseous behind the wheel for the first few driving lessons. With all that said, I feel that Oscar could've been a bit more understanding and encouraging. While he did give great tips and advice, it felt it touched on more of what I was doing wrong, which mentally weighed me down and sort of added to the anxiety I already had. Oscar also rarely commented on the things I did right or occasionally felt a bit confident about. The school overbooks students, so to get appointments for each lesson close together is impossible. We waited 2 weeks for 1st lesson, 3 weeks for the 2nd lesson. We only signed up for 3 lessons total. Can only imagine how long it will take to get the last lesson! Not worth the money ($270) or the aggravation. Interesting class. Great, nice, and professional staff! I really enjoyed my time there, despite the fact that you have to sit for countless hours. But in the end, I feel that it's money worth spent. I'm not sure if Bobby still teaches the class, but he's super friendly and will always find ways to make class entertaining. He'll tell you the how-to's and do-not's of driving and will even share some stories of his driving experiences with student drivers. As part of your package (at least when I took it) you get 3 behind the wheel lessons along with in-class hours. I recommend Bobby and it's hard to get a hold of him to teach you since he's so popular and has a busy schedule -- but you should at least have 1 driving appointment with him. You'll learn a lot. I had another teacher, Ed, and he was patient, helpful, and friendly. He took me around Laguna Hills since I told him that I was planning on taking my driver's license test there. My teacher was so nice that he actually showed me the route to where you get tested for your license. I remembered the exact route and I passed! I definitely recommend! :) Honk Honk! read more

I've read the reviews and honestly, if you're kid considers them "old enough" to be an eventually adult licensed driver, don't sign up for this and cry a river. The instructors are very nice, laid back and helpful, the classes are long and take all day but I had bobby who was really cool and made it fun sometimes. The test driving, my first time I went with an elder lady - forgot her name - we just cruised forever through neighborhoods. That was SO boring, she was really nice though. I also got another gentleman, I can't remember his name but I can remember "awesome possum" lol! That was a great drive! We went through a good amount of cities, different sorts of terrain, that was really fun and it was awesome that I got to drive through new areas and on new roads. Lastly I got bobby, I believe I went on the freeway for my first time with him, he was really encouraging and helpful! I don't remember if there were packages? But I spent a bit over 300.. I did ace everything and I'm a great driver now! I recommend it and my little brother will be attending this in a few weeks :) read more

Not only Eliana, whoever I spoke with was very nice in answering my questions , excellent customer service. Now about Jennifer , my driving instructor who helped me to pass through my drive test and become a confident driver : She is a woman with lot of positive energy which makes her students more confident and attend the drive test with ease. She has a smiling face alwes that made me cool thou I was nervous about driving for the first time. She is the best . Bobby was very friendly and carefully gained our daughter's trust during each of the lessons and then during the last 2 hour session, he spent the entire time trying to convince our teenage daughter (while she was driving and supposed to be paying attention to the road) that her religion is wrong, his church is superior and he could save her soul. While she was driving, he spent the entire time repeatedly challenging her doctrine, criticizing its historical practices and telling her that her church teaches lies. He even told her that by celebrating Halloween, she was celebrating Satan's holiday and that at his church, the children dress up like angels and receive blessings. Every time she tried defending herself and her religion, he cut her off and continued telling her how much better his church is and how wrong hers is. If he wants to preach to teenagers, then he should grab a soap box and go hang out at the skatepark, but to have a captive teenage audience and tell her she is going to hell unless she joins his church, all the while infuriating and distracting a brand new driver, is irresponsible. This type of bullying of a teenage girl is reprehensible. What he did was not only offensive, it was dangerous. He also told her that because he gets to spend time with teenagers, he uses these sessions to plant seeds to save their souls. Based on his bullying and reckless conduct, this company does not deserve your business. Update: I have now spoken with the owner who agreed that arguing with a new teenage driver endangers the driver and the people around the vehicle. However, the owner said alternately that he cannot fire Bobby because that is a decision for management (this is the owner, mind you) and that Bobby cannot be fired for sharing his religion. He agreed to refund our fees, but Bobby will merely get a warning. If this company violates your trust and endangers your child, be reassured. The instructor will receive a stern hug. read more

The guy answering the phones was friendly and nice-but the first instructor sent to us was an older man from Mexico who became too friendly too fast, if you know what I mean..not professional feeling. He took my kid on a wild goose chase, with no student driver sign on the car. My kid didn't learn anything and didn't feel a professional vibe. The second instructor was better, but had her run an errand to the bank for him, ugh...not professional. Needless to say, we're not continuing. :( read more

This is a great driving school. All three of my kids attended this class and they all really liked it and learned a lot. Robert was the classroom instructor and he is great. He's very personable and funny and makes the class enjoyable. Robert and Oscar both did the "behind the wheel" portion of the class and they were both awesome. This is to respond to Brent N. review Oscar did not speak to me, before discussing the facts with Brent of the events and conversation that he had while driving with his daughter. He agree to hastily with his position, trying to settle the situation to avoid conflict. This was not fair to me, not to hear his side of the facts. I was totally surprise to hear about the negligence review posted about me.This is my statement: Mr N's daughter and I had a conversation in which each share their faith in a friendly way. At no time did their conversation turn into an argument or raise to the degree in which she was overly distracted or in any danger. The conversation lasted for a short period of time, not the whole two hours. She did not voice that she was upset, or show in her demeanor that she was upset. In fact she was joking and laughing with me. I would NEVER try to bully a child into my faith. Mr N perceive angry give him the perfect opportunity to vent and to make false accusation of what I said, in order to enhance his cause to get his MONEY back. I did not say, nor would I ever say, that her religion is wrong, my church is superior, and that I could save her soul. ( Only God the Son can save, and you can't force people to believe the gospel ) The other accusations are also false and particular the one in which I supposedly said to his daughter, that she must join my church or else she will go to hell. That is a damnable LIE, In which he should repent of. I am deeply sadden by these false statements of me. We enrolled our son in this school and we were very pleased with the instructor (and all staff that we met there - all very friendly and helpful)and the coursework. We didn't know if we should do the classroom or the internet driver's ed - we chose the classroom and my son passed his written exam on his first try. It gave us peace of mind knowing that he was safe during the day at the school and learning the info he needed to take the written exam. I would choose this school again. The classes were only 4 days (7 hrs ea. day) and he's done already! No wait time. He'll start behind the wheel instruction next week at this same school. America Driving School helped immensely when I was trying to transfer my credits over from my original driving school in Texas. I had moved to California assuming that I would be able to transfer my credits over but the DMV said that I had to get the papers from a driving school in California. We emailed America Driving School in hopes that they would assist us in giving me California driving papers if we showed them the documents from Texas, and they were able to provide that for us and treated us very kindly.
