My first time behind the wheel leading up to my DMV test was with Persis. Tyler was a great instructor in helping me develop confidence on the road and showing me all the nuances of driving. I ultimately passed my behind-the-wheel test with just two minor mistakes after a total of 6 lessons. Strongly recommend their services. read more

I'll try to be concise so this will be helpful to others, but this was probably one of the best investments of my life. I had little to no experience driving, am a painfully shy and fearful person. Knowing myself I enrolled for 10 sessions with Sam. The process was very smooth from booking to the test itself. The price was very reasonable too. I was relieved the car came with an accelerator and brakes for the instructor's use. The lessons were well planned in terms of difficulty. But most impressive was my instructor! He observes and checks in with you, is patient and calm and you feel safe- and he's just a really good person who brings out the best in you. Needless to say I passed on my first try, and will be recommending his services to others too! Thank you Sam! read more

Sam was the best driving instructor for our daughter! He prepared her, kept in excellent communication with us as parents, and she passed her test with ease. Highly recommend! We used Varsity with our son; doesn't even come close to Persis! read more

We would recommend Persis Driving school to any of our friends. Sam was great and very thorough. My son really enjoyed his instruction.

I found Persis Driving School on Yelp to help my teenage son prep for the Behind the Wheels test. As a mom, I'd get super anxious teaching/practicing driving with my son myself. I'm so happy we got Sam as in the instructor. Even though I didn't get to go to the lessons with them, the limited interactions I had with Sam before and after the lessons just put my mind at ease. He's a kind and courteous person. My son also agrees. He just passed the test on the 1st try on October 8! Really appreciate it, Sam! We definitely made the right decision with Persis Driving School. Wish we started with them even at the permit time! Highly recommend! read more

By far, the easiest and most responsive school to work with. Searched around various schools, and landed here-they honor veteran/military discounts, and the instructors are great-son had nothing but fantastic things to say and he had fun while taking the lessons! read more

Long overdue review. Sam helped me pass my driving test last year and become confident in allowing myself to learn how to drive and not beat myself up for not getting it right the first time. He really allowed me to recognize that I was only stopping myself and that I too can be on the road and not be afraid to be. I had my last lesson and driving test scheduled the same month my permit was going to expire, and I was about to cancel my driving test because I was still pretty nervous and getting in my head that 3 lessons was not enough. However, Sam did not think the same, he believed that I could. He made me change my mentality and I went through with the scheduled time, and I passed! So grateful, thank you! read more

When I was learning how to drive I can keenly remember how nerve racking and incredibly stressful it was. At the beginning, I purchased a package from Varsity Driving, and while they served their purpose for the most part they were nothing special. Then I heard about Persis Driving School from a friend, and everything changed. Think of Sam (the owner and proprietor) as like a Persian Yoda. He's wise, knowledgeable, patient, pushes you to be your best, and most importantly he's an incredible mentor. I can assure you whole heartedly that Sam is everything he's chalked up to be - and more. Everything I learned in terms of driving I learned from Sam. The personal touch and bona fide skill of Persis cannot be beat. Sam taught me how to park, master the expressway, turn with grace, and even conquer the DMV driving course. When I had trouble learning how to park, Sam took the extra time and effort to help me get it down to a science. Sam's words and driving wisdom are things that I carry with me to this day two years after getting my license. Anything that other driving schools can do, Persis can do better. You cannot go wrong with Sam and Persis Driving School. If you really want to be a great driver Sam will get you there. read more

I usually don't write Yelp reviews but had to for this school because Sam is such an amazing instructor. Not only is he a great instructor but he is a great person as well. He makes you feel comfortable and knows your limits; he teaches at a pace you're comfortable with. I'm typically a very shy and conservative person but he really made me warm up to him because he's so friendly and likeable. Before the driving test, he made sure I was okay and helped me calm down because I do get a bit anxious for tests. I passed the driving test with ease and confidence all thanks to Sam! Such an incredible and considerate instructor! read more

I'm so happy I found this school. I'm 20 years old and driving has never really been a priority for me but given that it's turning into a necessity, I had to learn. Although I had learned on and off from my parents, they were always so worried and full of anxiety when it came to teaching me how to drive. However, my experience with Sam was the complete opposite. He is very supportive and encouraging from the second you get behind the wheel with him. He helps build your confidence and offers a lot of useful tips that you couldn't find elsewhere. I am 10x's more confident in driving just after one lesson. I definitely recommend Sam! read more

Can't say enough about how impressed I am with Sam. He is professional, punctual, safe and very trustworthy. He has rare qualities that go well beyond the requirements of a driving instructor. I am lucky that he taught my daughter and my teenage daughter was so impressed that for the first time, she came to me asking that I leave the best review for Sam. I told her that was my intention as well. Sam deserves 7 Starts, hundreds of them! Thanks Sam and all the best! read more

I highly recommend Persis Driving School! I called 3 driving schools in Irvine and no one picked up but Persis Driving School was the only one that called me back. Elysis, the customer service representative, provides fantastic customer service over the phone! He's always willing to help! I already had my license for 2 years but hadn't driven since thus I wanted to refresh my driving skills as well as gain confidence on the road. I requested 3 driving lessons and for Sam to be my driving instructor from a recommendation. He is a fantastic instructor! Sam is very patient and gives terrific tips! He'll ask you what you want to work more on and be honest when critiquing your driving skills. He genuinely wants his students to be good and smooth drivers. I feel much more confident driving after 2 of his lessons and can't wait to see what I'll learn in the 3rd! Oh, and he is a very interesting person so lots of good stories too! read more

My wife suffered a real blow to her confidence early on in her driving instruction but we knew she needed to get her confidence back. We contacted Persis and were allotted Sam as instructor. He worked around our work schedule and slowly gave her, her confidence back. On the day of the exam she had a bit of a meltdown and called Sam who once again returned her confidence to her and she passed with flying colors. She still doesn't drive much on the freeway but is a confident and capable driver now and is doing better every day thanks to Sam. Excellent service, excellent price, I definitely recommend them. read more

Amazing school! Great communication and knowledge. Sam was so patient and thorough and my daughter passed her test with ease and confidence. They plan out everything to the tee. My husband was able to go on the first lesson and learned so much from Sam so we could continue his approach as we drove with her by ourselves. I highly recommend Persis! read more

Here is a short list of things I loved about Persis 1. I was able to easily schedule my 3 driving lesson at convenient times. 2. During each lesson, Sam would draw out and write on his notepad to help me visualize what to do when I drive/park. 3. At my last lesson, 1 week prior to my test date, Sam drove through the Laguna Hills DMV course twice, giving pointers and explaining where/how possible points could be docked. Then I drove through the course as practice test where he loosely guided me as the real tester would and gave me a pass/fail grade at the end. Not only did this ensure I would be able to pass the real driving test, it also made the experience way less stressed than it could have been. read more

We had such a wonderful experience with Persis! They go above and beyond to make sure that you learn what you need to pass the test. It was easy to set up appointments and they even went to my daughters school to pick her up one day. At the end, they did a vehicle check and made sure that my daughter was a confident driver. My daughter was very pleased with the drivers that came to instruct her. read more

This is a former student of Sam, who's now out of college and has been driving for 7+ years. I'm revisiting this Yelp page to find the business for my fiancée to learn driving because frankly, I forgot what the name of my best driving instructor's company was and have to search on Yelp. It was such a relief when I saw Persis is still in business and I just wanted to write this review. Seriously, Sam has given me confidence, superb skills, and wisdom on driving and beyond driving, something that's so precious and valuable that has turned me into the best driver my friends and family could all rely onto, no matter where I am. I've driven the roads in Europe, New York City, Boston, Alaska, China, and many more without a single accident (knock knock) these years and I'm beyond grateful for this confidence and mature mindset that has saved me from a lot of dangerous on-road situations. Sam is the best. Also don't hesitate to book more hours than the DMV-required 6 hours. I got to my best driving confidence by spending more hours with him behind the wheel and my parents let me drive anywhere I want because of this. I'll book lessons with him for my fiancée now! read more

Sam did an amazing job helping my son pass the driver's test on the first time. He was always on time and gave good suggestions. Sam especially came through when my son was scheduled for his third and final lesson, days before his behind the wheel test. My son was struggling with a lot of anxiety about some challenges he was having, in addition to not feeling prepared for the test. Sam patiently waited 30 minutes while my son refused to get in the car. Sam offered multiple suggestions about how to help Alex feel comfortable. He could have given up, and required us to reschedule. His patience paid off as my son was able to get in the car and go with Sam. Sam prepared him with excellent suggestions and calmed his nerves. Happily, he took the test and only missed four. Sam's kind and patient encouragement shows that he is not just in it for the money. He really cares. All the best to you Sam. Thank you. read more

I am by personality a very anxious and nervous person. I'm so glad to have had Sam as my driving instructor. He made me feel comfortable, reassured me, significantly boosted my confidence on the road and showed me everything I needed to know. I had 4 different instructors from different schools before but he was unlike any normal instructor. he really sit down with you and evaluates your problem areas or other external/internal issues that you may need more practice on. Sam was also very caring and empathetic towards me. I wouldn't have wanted anyone else to have been with me on my day. Even though I was super nervous, I passed w few marks. After the test, I hopped out the car with the biggest grin on my face feeling so joyful that I had passed today. It is a bittersweet feeling though because Sam really was the best, even with last minute issues we had and also scheduling to personally go with me to take my test so last minute to accommodate me :) I usually don't write reviews but if you are looking for a driving school, I would most definitely recommend going with Persis!! read more

This driving school made the entire process so simple, from beginning to end. Our teenager was able to get picked up at his school by the driving instructor, in order to facilitate our work schedules, and then to drop him off at home at the end of each of his 3 lessons. Scheduling was easy just using email and phone, payment was straightforward and knowing what to expect with follow-up at the DMV was clearly and helpfully communicated. He passed his test on the first try with a high score. Thank you for all you did for us! read more
