    Tim's Paving And Seal Coating

Tim and his crew did a great job. He had stopped in and talked about doing my driveway as it was in…read morerough shape. Tim explained what they would do. Tool measurements and quoted me the price. I agreed to have it done. Tim and his crew were on time. Very efficient at getting the work completed. Asked multiple times if I was happy with the job they were doing. And if i wasn't happy with something offered to make it right. They finished the job in good time. I was well satisfied with the completed job. Tim charged me exactly what he had quoted. Overall genuinely pleased with the completed job.

I strongly recommend getting EVERYTHING in writing before hiring this contractor. My experience…read moreinvolved misleading pricing, poor workmanship, repeated missed commitments, inappropriate behavior, and a very uncomfortable payment situation. He approached ME while I was heading to lunch and offered to pave my driveway using "extra product" from another job at a "heavy discount" of $4/sq. ft. I unfortunately did not get the quote in writing. I ultimately paid over $9/sq. ft.--roughly THREE TIMES the original quoted amount after initially being told I owed FIVE TIMES the quoted amount. He said the extra five-time amount money was for a second layer he planned to install, despite a second layer never being discussed or agreed upon, and never justified the final number. The driveway looks terrible. The road end is unfinished and crumbling. There are frozen footprints in the supposedly finished end, heavy lines where pavement thickness changes, and the garbage-can landing we specifically discussed was never completed. The follow-through has been equally frustrating. Thursday at noon he said he'd be there "in a couple hours." He didn't show until 5 PM, when he said the crew was "on their way" and "thanks for understanding." They arrived around 6:30 PM. He then said he'd return Friday between 8:30-10 AM to finish. He never showed. After I texted at noon, he said he'd come in the afternoon. Later he said the asphalt plant was closed and he couldn't get more product. There was NO update Monday about when the job would actually be finished. The payment situation was another red flag. I initially gave him the check he requested. About 10 minutes later, he suddenly wanted Venmo because my bank was seven hours away. When I asked for my check back before paying via Venmo, he refused and said he'd return it AFTER I paid. I ultimately put a stop payment on the check as a precaution in case he attempted to deposit it as well. He eventually returned it. Most importantly, there was inappropriate behavior in my home. While standing in my kitchen for payment, he literally smashed/broke a cigarette against his mouth and then asked to throw it in my kitchen garbage. I don't smoke and despise smoking. More seriously, he made inappropriate comments about my personal life and appearance that I consider sexual harassment. Those comments were completely unwelcome and made an already uncomfortable situation considerably worse. I made the mistake of trusting a verbal quote and not getting everything in writing. I won't make that mistake again. Based on my experience, I would not hire this contractor. Get the exact price, scope of work, materials, payment terms, and completion date in writing BEFORE work begins.
