My retired working dog has been boarded periodically at this kennel for years. He was never allowed to have blankets or toys in the kennel for his safety. This past stay, they put not one but multiple blankets in his kennel and admitted to having zero accountability of blankets or toys in general. They do not pay attention to how many blankets they put in and certainly do not pay attention if any become missing. Not even two days after having him home, I noticed he wasn't acting normal. He was trying to vomit and was struggling to poop. We took him to the Vet immediately, where they found he had a serious obstruction in his digestive tract. They performed emergency surgery and removed the material, which ended up being nearly a whole quilted blanket. Tragically, he ended up dying shortly after surgery due to the severity of the surgery's impact on his system. This was a healthy 8 year old GSD living out his retirement after years of service to this country which was tragically cut short due to a completely preventable incident. When I spoke to the owner of the kennel, she told me three things that broke our hearts even more. 1. She insisted this kind of thing has never happened before at her kennel. Which, after many years of working in pet and working dog kennels and professionally handling and training dogs, I know is not true. Dogs eating things is a very common thing in a kennel environment, which is why it is so important that the staff monitor and keep accountability of exactly what is put in each dog's kennel, if anything. 2. She said she had no idea how or when it happened. When I spoke to the kennel staff, they were immediately defensive and straight up told me they put not one, but multiple blankets in the kennel and had no idea one was missing because they don't count them. They said they don't have time for that. 3. The worst thing the owner told me was that she had no intentions of changing the way she ran her kennel and said she wouldn't lie to me and say she would, just to make us feel better. She was unbelievably unempathetic and offered us nothing in the way of an apology or anything. It is also important to note that while I had this conversation with the owner at the kennel just days after the loss of our dog, I witnessed another dog in an outside run tearing apart the stuffed dog bed that was in the kennel with him. When I pointed it out to her, she said "Oh he does that all the time, he doesn't eat it." She did NOTHING to stop the incident as I literally witnessed the dog pull mouthful after mouthful of stuffing out. For the safety and well-being of your beloved dog, I strongly discourage using this facility to board your pet. The owner and two staff members are lazy, and complacent. Keeping track of what goes in each kennel and making sure it comes out should be a priority at every kennel, among other important things that keep the dogs healthy and safe. For my dog, that lack of attention to detail cost him his life. I am speaking out to hopefully save other dogs from the same fate.

For reference, I used to attend Kent State University so that is why my dog visits Memorial Animal Hospital as his regular vet (who this place is ran with and I believe your pet does have to be a patient with to utilize this boarding service- I could be wrong on that last part though). They are great there so I never bothered switching to something closer. Bed and Biscuit requires all main vaccinations as well as flea prevention so I know he won't be picking anything up from his stay. They also offer blankets and relaxing spray for stressed pups. They also provide food free of charge for the duration of stay, but I prefer to bring his own but it's still a nice accommodation! My dog has pretty bad separation anxiety and this place knows just how to handle him- let's just say things didn't go so great for him on the first day! They moved him to a larger kennel space without charging me just he could be more comfortable!!! They also gave him his favorite moderation snack- cheese!! Treats are the way to his heart so it made me happy they did their best to make this a comfortable and pleasant stay for him. Having a dog that doesn't do separation well is pretty difficult to manage at first, but by the end of his stay he was a happy pup and was clearly well taken care of. It's always easy to drop off/ pick up and their rates are really good. My pup has been here twice now and is scheduled to be there again next month. I always worry about the safety of my pup when I'm not around but I can relax when I'm out of town knowing he is well taken care of here.

Until we went on a highly anticipated 2 week cruise / land vacation to Hawaii to celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary during the winter of February 2025.. We had a PROFESSIONAL SNOW PLOW SERVICE scheduled to clear our driveway.. Marlene, the business owner called us while we were in port at one of the islands preparing to leave for dinner.. and informed us that our driveway was not clear enough & if the snow wasn't appropriately cleared, she would not have her workers stop by, & our dogs wouldn't be fed!!! I was frantically trying to call our professional snow plowing service in Ohio before our ship left port & we would lose cell service. My niece was staying at our house at night during our trip, & she took pics of our driveway, & the snow was adequately cleared. When we arrived home from our trip, the FRONT DOOR was NOT LOCKED, & there was 40 pieces of UNCOLLECTED MAIL IN OUR MAILBOX. There was also dog vomit on the pillows on our living room couch.. When I let Marlene know of the situation we came home to..she was very rude & unprofessional & accused my 30 year old niece of leaving the door unlocked, & not cleaning up the dog mess in the living room! Then she told me I was exaggerating about the mail. One of Marlene's duties was to collect the mail daily.. Our mail was nearly falling out of the mailbox into the ditch! As far as my niece leaving the dog vomit & the front door unlocked, (which she would never do), our niece left our house at 7:00 am in the morning, & Marlene's "helpers" were the last people at our home before we arrived home later that afternoon after a 20 hour flight home from Hawaii. Marlene caused what should have been a wonderful cruise & vacation to Hawaii to be stressful for my husband & I, as we were concerned our dogs would not be attended to properly.. She was rude & cold & uncaring towards me when I tried to converse with her about the condition our home was in when we returned from our trip. I am writing this review now, a year later, because I want to spare anyone else Marlene's unprofessional & rude treatment.
