4/5: Took 3 visits for the technicians to figure out what was wrong with HVAC…read more Juan came out first and thought it was the thermostat, I didn't think so because the code that keeps lighting up on my HVAC was 26, from the blinker light message which is the burner unit. Before the technician came out, I did tell Air Tech scheduler that I have to leave by 1130am that day for work and technician came around 9am. Anyway, when I got home from work, the heater didn't turn on because thermostat was set to a specific temperature and inside the house was at least 4-5 degrees colder. Over the weekend, I left a message and I think it was Kim who called back. 2nd Technician came out and it was Nathan. He had to leave and problem wasn't solved and he ran out of time and had to come back again which he needed authorization for so I don't have to keep paying for the same visit when the problem wasn't solved. 3rd Visit: Nathan figured it out and solved it. It did took them 3 visits which was almost 6 hours of my time with approx. 2hrs each time. I'm just glad Air Tech's technicians figured it out finally and didn't go with the MOST Expensive solution for the client first. I tried a different company before Air Tech and they definitely went with a more expensive solution to my HVAC problem. Overall, I'm still pleased with Juan and Nathan that they were able to solve my HVAC problem of why the heater wasn't turning on. I waited 2 weeks before giving a review to make sure my HVAC is working fine, which it is and that's what mattered most to me. The technicians were great! Knowledgeable and both Juan and Nathan didn't mind answer ALL my questions on HVAC and taught me few tips. I gave 4 out 5 because it took them 3times.

The technician was able to diagnose our problem, order the part and find a issue that needed fixing on our other unit to prevent future issues. There is a email with pictures that is sent showing what work has been done. Our technician was very professional and knowledgeable. I also had an issue with loss of water pressure because of kinked lines which were repurposed from my original water heater. After a slam on Facebook on a comment on someone else's post, someone contacted me. Can't remember the name of the gentleman that came to check it out, a supervisor or manager, nonetheless, he said it looked normal to him. But he took some pictures and was going to reach out to boss. Never heard from the guy again. Now, today, I noticed quite a bit of oxidation on the galvanized pipes they used, along with the connection points on the brass. This can't be normal or good in this small amount of time. First time ever that I'm writing a negative review of a business…read more Carrier Air Conditioning Customer Support gave me the phone number of M & M Heating & Air Conditioning Service (M&M). I called them and a person took the details of my casitas' AC issue; it wasn't switching from heating to cooling and had the appearance of a refrigerant leak. They said they'd send out a technician to do a full diagnosis and it would cost $129/hr. The technician came by, found that there was a leak & recommended adding an Ultraviolet dye to trace. I agreed. Dye cost $145. I told him that my prior day analysis is that the AC unit was stuck in heat mode and wasn't switching to cooling (which typically needs a solenoid). He just politely listened to me but didn't quite agree. I provided a gel mat to him as he had to kneel on a concrete surface. I even provided him with iced lemonade. I made multiple trips up and down the casita stairs; to switch the unit from heat to cool. No dice. He tested the control board, found that it was malfunctioning and said it had to be replaced. I paid the first bill on the spot. He informed the M&M office. They called Carrier and found that there was a single part available in all of America, in a New Mexico dealership. In case the dealer wouldn't part with the part (no pun intended), the second option was to wait for Carrier to provide the part. The earliest date would tentatively be December 2023; as it would have to be manufactured. Seriously! M&M placed an order for a replacement control board. I got a call from them updating me on the status & the cost to install the control board ($276). Since I couldn't let my tenant potentially spend the entire 2023 without a functioning AC, I asked what is Plan B if the New Mexico dealership couldn't mail the part over. The lady named Cher who was on the phone was extremely rude to me. She said M&M had nothing to do with my tenant, not their problem etc. All I wanted to know was what options I may have in case the sole part wasn't available and after spending a few minutes trying to get a sensible answer, I gave up. The next week, I was informed that the part had been obtained and the technician would come and install it. Guess what? After the technician opened the unit, he found the part number he had in hand was the wrong one. Sheesh! Yesterday, the technician came over, installed the part and tested the AC unit. It was still stuck in heating mode. Now the solenoid was faulty and needed to be replaced. I was present on the first day he tested the voltage on the control board and the solenoid. The readings weren't stable or accurate and he even stated the same yesterday. When I asked him why he hadn't asked for the solenoid to be replaced along with the control board, he said that though the readings weren't stable or accurate, he didn't want to unnecessarily order a part which may or may not be bad. $276 spent to get an AC unit that still doesn't work. I asked him if I would be charged a third time for replacing the solenoid and he said yes. I asked how this was fair to me as he had already prior seen a faulty reading from the solenoid but hadn't asked for it to be replaced. He called the M&M office for the lady who manages the financial stuff. She was on her lunch break and he said they'd call and discuss with me. He said I didn't need to make the payment of $276 right away and the office would handle it. Unfortunately, the same rude M&M lady called. She informed that per Carrier, this repair would entail changing the reversing valve as well and the cost for labor & recharging the units' refrigerant would be a mere $1,350. I said that since it now was a ~$2,000 bill from the first engagement onwards, given the technician's & the AC units' track record, it was at best a 50-50 probability that the unit would work correctly. The first time the technician tried to check the refrigerant pressure within the AC unit, it didn't work. I was thinking that after spending nearly $2K, if the refrigerant could not be refilled, then what? Replace the main refrigerating unit? Another $2K+ expense? After several vain attempts to get my point across, I asked the lady if it made sense to go forward or think of alternatives. She said could not guarantee that the AC unit would work after the 4th repair attempt. She then accused me of not paying their $276 bill. I said that it was their guy who told me that he wouldn't charge me immediately and my family were witnesses. She accused me of lying. I was also accused of being mad that I had to spend money and so on. I immediately offered to pay over the phone. After putting me on hold for a couple of minutes she took the card details and said I'd receive a receipt. Literally, the first time in my life that I raised my voice speaking to a lady. I was at this point extremely upset as nobody has ever accused and slandered me like that. My family was stunned as they've never heard me get upset like that over the phone. Life!
