From the beginning, I have been blown away by the fast, professional service and low price. They are extremely patient and answer all of my questions and concerns carefully. My dog has always been in great health, but they have been helpful with the few emergencies we have encountered. Emergency 1 - broken toenail. Leo split his nail down to the quick on some ice, and though the vet was about to close when we called, stayed on the phone and talked me through treating the bleeding foot at home, and gave me an emergency number to call. Leo was fine, and I was super appreciative! Emergency 2 - surgical staple. About six months after I had adopted Leo in New Orleans and had him fixed by a clinic down there, I noticed something silver on Leo's "boy parts'. I was confused by this, as the New Orleans vet told me they used dissolving stitches and no follow up was needed. I called Community Vet and they told me to bring him right in (about 3 pm on a Monday). They saw him immediately - removed what turned out to be FIVE surgical staples, and gave me some antibiotics to prevent infection. I was really worried what this would cost, (of course it was a week until pay day) - NO CHARGE. So, we will probably never go anywhere else. Love this vet, love the staff - HIGHLY recommend!

First off, we didn't use their services. I was thinking about switching vets since our regular vet…read moreis in West Allis and we wanted something local. Also, since the West Allis vet sold out to private equity, their prices have increased substantially. Community Vet has a reputation (by AI) as lower cost. We have a small dog in need of dental cleaning, so I decided to check them out. Drove there Saturday morning for their limited hours. I found that they had not one but two separate buildings, only one of which was open that day. Oddly, they have a locked door policy without a buzzer, requiring a phone call to which the desk person answered with, "What do you want?" A bit abrupt and rude, it seemed to me. When she finally gave me permission to enter, I explained my interest in switching vets and asked their rates for dental cleaning. I was shocked. She said they don't have a base rate, but in practice you can expect to be charged at least $900 without extractions. If there are extractions, the fee could be as high as $3000. I said, "That seems a bit high to me," and got out of there as fast as I could. They may not be listed as sold out to private equity, but they are definitely no longer a low cost community clinic.

Unfortunately my cat got cancer and it eventually came time to put her to sleep. Dr. Christiansen came to my house to perform the procedure. She had me hold my cat for her, which was fine, but she couldn't find a vein. Little did I know that her plan B was to stab my cat with the needle directly into her heart, which is what she did! My cat was biting my fingers as hard as she could - it was HORRIBLE and TRAUMATIC for me and my sweet kitty. It was so bad. I've since learned that the technique she used for euthanizing my cat was intra-cardiac euthanasia. It is widely thought of as painful and barbaric. My sweet cat suffered greatly in her last moments and so did I. I have never forgotten that horrible ending - my cat deserved so much better, a goodbye filled with peace and love, not horror. I don't know if Dr. Christiansen practices any more, but if she does, please consider seeing someone else.

Honestly, I was surprised--being a walk-in clinic, I expected a quick in-and-out experience, maybe something impersonal. But it was the complete opposite. The team at Saint Paul's truly cares--not just about the pets, but about the people who love them. I've had one of my cats undergo surgery there, and more recently, my boy (a dog) had a seizure. I was in complete panic mode, barely holding it together. But even the other customers were kind and supportive, helping me get inside. Once I was in, the staff gave my dog--and me--the time, attention, and compassion we desperately needed. They treated us with nothing but love and care. Even though they don't take appointments and operate on a call-ahead, walk-in basis, they are 100% worth the wait. I highly recommend this vet clinic. The level of care and kindness they offer is truly rare.

He's never, ever since he was a puppy had accidents before. I will be contacting St. Paul in the a.m. He needs this done right away. He hasn't gotten up on his own since Friday. I don't like to see him like this. I pray they'll be able to do this tomorrow. Say a prayer for Chanz.
