We moved up here from Austin, TX with our elderly…read moredog, Royal, and wanted to both establish a new relationship with a vet in town, but also get a second opinion on removing a large mass from the side of our dog's body. Our dog had always been terrified & anxious when going to the vet, but for many reasons we now know, he seemed at ease with Dr. Ron. He outlined the pros/cons of moving forward with such an invasive surgery on an elderly dog and walked us through all the initial tests he wanted to run to make sure something of that nature was safe for him. In the end, we moved forward with a successful surgery that gave our little guy a little more comfort in his last years. This was after being told by various vets it was a no go. Unfortunately, a few years later we needed to put our boy down of old age and we of course called Dr. Ron as Royal was so comfortable in his presence. Dr. Ron came to our house and made the entire experience peaceful for everyone involved. We were sent a thoughtful card, stamp of his paw and a beautiful urn afterwards. Dr. Ron is animal whisperer (or so we think). Him and his staff are incredibly kind and thoughtful, and we're so happy we found them in our dog's last years. We have a three legged Doodle, which as you can imagine presents some challenges. Ours was Brittany's first tripod, and over the last year she has been extremely patient in establishing a relationship with her, and getting her to become more and more relaxed with every visit. There was a big gap between appointments due to an injury our Doodle suffered the end of 2025, but once she was confidently back on all threes, I called Brittany and was able to get her in fairly quickly. She turned a matted, overgrown mess into a whole new dog! As much as we loved her longer hair, the new look has definitely grown on us. She's a whole new dog, and we are grateful for Brittany for all she's done for us!

The main reason I would steer anyone away from Lakeside animal Hospital is due to cost after it seems a change in ownership. From the outside, looking in, it seems that the vet hospital was bought by an investment group With the prices greatly in increasing over 100% in the past few years. I brought my younger dog in for a teeth cleaning and was quoted well over $1000. During the initial visit when dropping her off, they asked me what number from the quote which was $1447. I would be comfortable going up to if they found any problems. Knowing that many Americans are sent into credit card debt by medical bills with insurance, I saw the price as quite frankly almost borderline on affordable and questioned how others could afford such costs. As of recent, I've heard of others going to Lakeside and receiving ridiculously high quotes for work That used to be relatively affordable. During our last visit, I'd finally had it off of the high dollar cost that I began shopping around. After contacting several vets in our area, I found that Lakeside prices were anywhere from 100 to 150% greater than that of its nearby competitors. After going to a nearby competitor in whitefish Bay, I received equally as better care if not better and will never look back. This one used to be a great place to take our pets to receive care, but since the change in ownership has become unaffordable, even for the customers of the North Shore. Personally, I would recommend several other vets in the nearby area who offer the same services and quality of care. These other nearby vets are running small businesses and will treat you with the respect and honesty you deserve.

First off, both the Vet Tech and Vet were incredibly empathetic, and as far as the cost goes, while my cost was over $1,000, it was nothing out of the ordinary given the circumstances and honestly, was expected. People need to understand that you are going to pay more money at an Urgent Vet or Emergency vet, but when it's 10:00pm at night and you have nowhere else to go, what else can you do? We left my cat there for a little under 2 hours while they did the procedure and then we picked him up after. They called me 2 days later to follow up and see how my cat was doing as well, which I very much appreciated. I had no idea this place existed but I am grateful they were able to help me and my cat and my experience overall with them was pleasant. Thank you Urgent Vet!
