I am from out of state and needed to send a holiday gift on behalf of the executive I support to a team member in NJ. A Google search of places near Hoboken turned up Riverview Wine & Spirits, and showed a 5-star rating. I called around noon on a Friday, gave Laura some ideas of what I was looking for and a price point, and an hour later she had put together a beautiful basket, and texted me a couple pictures. She even delivered same day for free! Outstanding service! Timing on this delivery was critical as this colleague is flying out of town Sunday for an extended trip, and I couldn't use a typical gift-giving website or even Amazon (options were chintzy for the "next day delivery" on Amazon) so I shopped local. Love Riverview Wine Shop! We live in the Heights and this has been one of our favorite businesses in the neighborhood. Our dog "makes" me come their way, so what do I do? I tell them what we're going to have for dinner and they help me pick a wine. Zoey (the dog) knows what's good for me, and that's to come see what's new at Riverview! ...and she gets head rubs for her patronage. They leave my head alone though. read more

This is a new wine spot in JC, but the staff are far from new when it comes to their knowledge about wine. They will get you exactly what you want with a wide variety of natural wine - as well as cool craft beer and spirits. The whole place has a fun, laid back vibe that takes away any intimidation when it comes to wine. Not only is it a great store - but a great place to taste some new wines and chat with your neighbors. So 3 or 4 months ago, these folks got a drop of Heady Topper and Focal Banger. I ordered one of each. Due to some inventory error, or human error, or pandemic horror error, they oversold Heady Topper and I was forced to whistle away with two 4-packs of Focal (ooooh the indignity). Anyway, I was more than happy with my 8 Focal Banger, I woulda been happy with 4, hell, I was glad to be nominated. Fast forward 4 months, I'd forgotten all about it, and Riverview just called me out of the blue to give me first dibs on their new Alchemist drop. You know, to make up for last time? Still a work in progress, though I'm very elated that The Heights is getting a long awaited and well deserved Wine, Spirits and Craft Beer establishment. Having lived here for 12 years now, I often have to venture out to neighboring Hoboken or Downtown Jersey City. Often times, I'm stuck getting wine at one of the liquor store bodegas on Central or Summit Avenues which is mainly stock with unusual liquors, Budweiser's, Coronas or Miller Lites. I'm assuming that in the nearby future, they will have some wine tasting events to cater to folks who just moved to The Heights having been priced out of Hoboken, Downtown Jersey City or Brooklyn. Thanks to Steve who pointed us a a few selection of Reislings, Proseccos and red wines. More stock will be arriving in the upcoming week or two. Great place for all levels of liquor love. If you know what you want, they got you, if you don't know what you want, there's tastings (not since COVID-19) and anyone who works there is a magical, non-judging, silly question answering, expert in finding you the perfect bottle/can at the price you want to pay. GO. HERE. NOW. I am terrible at picking out wines. I had been meaning to stop by and regret that it took me this long. I've only gotten recommendations and I've enjoyed every. single. one. While I'm only on my 6th bottle, this is truly impressive. I've been to other wine stores and have been disappointed with what they've recommended. This is not the case here. I am so happy to have a place like this in my neighborhood. The staff is friendly, the variety is great, and the prices are good too! My husband and I go for the free wine tastings every Friday and pick one of the bottles to take home. It is also my go-to when I want a unique bottle of wine or spirits to take somewhere as a gift. Met the new owners, who were personable, knew their wines, spirits and gave a great recommendation. Actually a bottle from where one of the owners were from in Italy!
