What a good HAWT time!…read more We came on a Saturday, mid August, and had a good, relaxing time. Besides the heat trying to take me out, I had absolutely no complaints. Front Royal Outdoors had their logistics in order from start (parking) to the brief bus ride, all the way to finish (exit). Our party all opted to do the deluxe tube (approximately $41 for the entire experience) that offered more support (a place to hold your beverage of choice) and the possibility to maximize on one's lazy river experience. As an FYI, every "order" of course came with a life jacket. The river itself was calm and effortless, for the most part. I think our experience was a little over 3.5 hours. My only recommendation would be to hydrate and find a time/date where the heat is not doing what it does best.... drains ya.

Upon returning to the car, discovered the keys had fallen out of the wet bag and into the river. I went to the river landing to see if they fell on the beach when I lifted the cooler float to carry it up the hill. Didn't see them there and one of the staff members told me to check the office and gave me a number to a locksmith. No one had turned in any keys and was offered no further assistants from the office staff. So, called the locksmith, took him over an hour to get there and almost as long to reprogram the key (lack of cell reception or WiFi). But, met the nicest people next door! Laverne and her brothers were very hospitable and friendly, offering us food, water and a warm fire to dry ourselves. We noticed that Bob (owner of FRO) drove down the parking lot and saw our vehicle and gear, then drove off. He didn't bother to get out of the truck, just paused at the vehicle and kept going. Not what I would call the best service, hence the three star review. I would give the neighbors 4 stars for going above and beyond being neighborly!

I say settled, but that definitely isn't the case with this local fly fishing operation. Galen, the owner/operator was extremely nice to work with and rearranged his schedule several times to accommodate for poor weather/fishing conditions to ensure we had a great time learning how to fly fish. Once we met him near the river, we learned how to cast a fly rod on dry land. He has a lot of patience and was very supportive, even when we were doing poorly. After an hour of practice we hit the water on his white water rafting rig. We stopped at several places along the river to fish, and he would critique and provide tips along the way so that we caught as many fish as possible. While on the river he provided all of the fly fishing gear, beverages and even catered to our dietary needs. We will definitely be back to fish with Shenandoah Valley Fly Fishing in the near future - it was a low stress and high excitement experience for us. If you are ever looking for lessons or a guided tour, I would use Galen over any of his competitors. If you choose to go with Shenandoah Valley Fly Fishing, make sure you mention that one movie that takes place in Montana that has a lot of fly fishing in it, I think it's called "A River Runs Through It", or something like that. Galen looks a lot like Brad Pitt, if that helps. Great job, Galen, you have made customers for life!

He took some extra time to give us casting tips before we started our trip (my brother was new to fly fishing), and was an excellent instructor throughout the day. Our trip was such a success! Even when the weather went to hell, Galen had a plan and made sure we still had a great time. I would highly recommend SVFF to anyone looking for a float trip!

There's a basketball court, tennis courts, exercise stations throughout the park, a soccer field, a playground, and even a little chapel. I came here to use the trails. There is a trail that goes around the lake. It's has stunning view because the lake is surrounded by spectacular houses. Also, a portion of the Blue Trail passes through the park. The Pink and the Blue Trail run throughout the city of Reston. I was a little nervous about using the trail and crossing the streets. But there are pedestrian tunnels to cross under the busiest streets. Every time I come to this park, I always see plenty of people exercising. 5 stars.

This is a great family friendly environment and I usually take my dog for a walk here once a day. The view from the lake is absolutely stunning. There are at least two docks if you have a boat or a canoe you'd like to take out on the water. There's usually Little League baseball games going on for the kids and people playing tennis at all hours but not in a busy or overcrowded type of way. There's also bathrooms and water fountains for people to use which is convenient. The gazebo has two grills and is perfect for an outdoor get together or a family outing. I would highly recommend this location to anyone trying to enjoy Reston's outdoors.
