We first had to rush our cat…read moreIfrit to their 24 hour service a few months ago and were so kind and understanding when I explained my situation (not only a poor student but a poor disabled student relying on public transport) and let me work out first bus I could get to get Ifrit seen ASAP. Recently had to return to Manor Vets Edgbaston as it appears Ifrit has cystitis again and they're currently processing his urine samples today - a rush to make sure no underlying problems! By phone they are incredibly kind and patient, very understanding, and gave me numbers for the Cats Protection and Friends of the Animals for badly needed help with the cost of vets consultation and neutering fee for which I am incredibly grateful for. Some vets can be quite snobby and look down on lower-income people, but this recently refurbished state of the art veterinary practice is far from snobby. Treats were provided for the furry patients which helped Ifrit relax in the waiting room, and everyone there was definitely a pet person, creating a calming, warm, welcoming atmosphere. They've also given brilliant advice on foods that help his condition and it is little touches like that make me so grateful we chose Manor Vets.

Arrived 15 minutes early and been told that my cat doesn't registered there even though the email…read morestated that me and my cat is registered in there. Took a day off to make sure my cat got sorted. The lady on the desk make it sound like the fault is on me that I came to the wrong branch, which is unacceptable and quite rude since the email I got is a proof of that. The only good thing is she managed to request appointment in the other branch which is in the other side of the city and is quite hassle to get there because of the distance and there is an repair on the other place so the parking will be a nightmare. Please own it if you made a mistake, that's the point of the customer service. Don't make it sound like your patient made a mistake and make us feel bad about it. My cat is already stressed, me and my fiancé also struggle about it, but please please don't make us feel even more worse with trying to put the blame on us. I really appreciate that you manage to get the appointment sorted in different place on the same day. Thank you for that. This review is for the service from the front desk customer service and the system, not for the vets since this is my first time there. Hopefully the service in the front desk doesn't reflect the quality of the vets for Daisy.

Mrs Wharmby was lovely, she was very calming to both my dog and myself and as an owner who loves her pet like a child was extremely professional in explaining everything she was doing and why (my last vet was very stern which is why I left) and also allaying my fears after I had googled my dogs symptoms stupidly before going! My dog was treated and given medication and food to take home and within 4 days all symptoms had gone, much to my relief. A very busy vets but I was given an appointment on the same day and was seen within 5 mins of my appointment. Staff were polite and cost was reasonable. Large car park, which is needed as people were also driving in with horse boxes x 10/10

He is the only vet there and so you get his full and personal attention (he did take a brief vacation last year when he had a young lady take his place - and she was wonderful too!). Indeed you could imagine a British TV show about this man and his business. Oh wait a minute - that was done already back in the day (1978-1990): "All Creatures Great and Small" The surgery itself comprises a waiting area and his office/surgery. We LOVE the personal service that he gives, so does our beloved little guy "Ricky Martin" our 6 year old Jack Russell/Chihuahua mix born (and dumped roadside) in Houston, TX - thank goodness we found each other!! The occurrence that comes to mind is about 6 months ago when little Ricky (on an extended leash while walking with me) was attacked with no warning by a ferocious German Shepherd (Alsatian) which the owner was allowing to run free (forbidden in the UK) - yes I later found the address of the thoughtless owner, reported him to the police and now he has to keep the dangerous dog on a leash with a muzzle or he will go to prison. However, Ricky was bleeding and we got him immediately to the Doc who calmed him, shaved the area of the bite, studied and informed us that had the bite been 1/4 inch deeper or 1/4 inch to the left the carotid artery would have been severed and he would have bled out on the spot. He explained everything to us, advised why he was NOT going to use stitches, gave us painkillers for the little guy and antibiotics. Follow up a week later and all has been well since he pretty much fully recovered a month or so later. Poor little Ricky will not walk with me through those areas where he was attacked - his memory remains, as does ours of this wonderful, caring vet Two big thumbs up and one little paw up! The turning point for me was when I rang in as an anxious pet owner asking about treatment for my dog, the receptionist thought she put me on hold. She then proceeded to use every F word possible and scream that she couldn't F'ing cope with me. Her supervisor came on the phone and I advised her that I had heard everything and she could only apologize. I immediately changed vets and informed them that I could not leave any animal of mine in their care if that is how they spoke about their clients! I also took a Terrapin in for treatment which I had found, the vet looked and hinted they were not funded for wildlife but said the Terrapin looked alright. I then rang the RSPCA who took the poor creature to a sanctuary, it died en route. Coincidentally they then took it to Peak Vets who diagnosed extreme muscle waste. So not alright then? Still they didn't have to treat it as it was dead. The Partner Steve rang me to ask me to clear my bill, no apology! He has since retired. So it was 10 years ago, still a lot of the staff I spoke to are still there. Sorry but had I not heard how that receptionist/vet nurse and her disgusting and disturbing outburst then I would have been none the wiser. Lets hope they have changed!

Both vets obviously love animals and they are wonderfully reassuring to us worried owners too. The reception staff are also extremely friendly and are on-hand to answer enquiries by email as well if you haven't got an urgent problem. I would definitely recommend these to anyone in the area.

I cannot praise Ashfield House vets highly enough!…read more I use them both for as a volunteer for a local animal welfare charity but also for my own pets. The staff are exceptional and all vocationally driven. From the reception staff to the nurses to the vets - animal welfare is clearly a driving force for them. This is not to say for your own animals care it isn't pricey (which vets isn't!) but I believe their costing to be fair and the quality of care is beyond doubt. As vet care is expensive one thing you can rest assured is they are a practice which fully explain the costs to you in advance and will not undertake unneccesary work for their own financial gain. For those with their animals insured they have members of staff specialised with helping you in your claim. The main site at Long Eaton has hospital status and they are able to carry our surgical work from the routine to highly specialist. Having brought them many trauma and abuse cases through my volunteer work I have been amazed by their expertise on several occassions which gives me greater confidence that should any of my own animals ever be in such a situation, they would be afforded the best possible treatment. Many of their vets sepcialise and if you speak to their knowledgable reception staff they will be able to recommend a vet should your pet need a specific area of care. Their specialist fields included oncology, orthopaedics, dermatology, optholomogy and much more. A visiting pet behavourial specialist also holds a clinic here. They run a number of clinics and clubs including the weight club and the puppy club which are well worth attending. They have a second branch in Spondon and a specialist feline clinic at Bramcote. Most importantly this vets will do all in their power to make you and your pet comfortable. This is especially important at times of stress after an accident or on losing a pet. There is a small car park for clients to the rear of the surgery.
