I'm torn on this review. The food was good. I had a Polish buffet catered. And they had to deliver it up to Bridgman Michigan. The food actually tasted very good. But the noodles were just wrong. I'm not sure why they would've even served those. Also the price jumped on me after we agreed to a price and then I was told a month later that the price of food went up two dollars a plate. my only advice is to watch this company. You have to stay on top of them at every turn. We did have a miscommunication between us and them, I'm not sure how it happened I was very clear, but they did reimburse us for the problem. It didn't make up for the fact that my guests didn't have enough appetizers, but there's nothing I can do about it now. Cindy is very nice, she's been in this business a very long time. But you still have to stay very involved with her. I do appreciate her professionalism on giving us a refund on the problem. But as I said, I am not pleased that she jumped the price up two dollars a plate. Frankly, their price was the reason why I chose them as our caterer. I had another caterer that was two dollars more a plate could have been a little bit less trouble overall because they were closer to my venue. I wanted to give Cindy and Riverside Terrace a chance. All in all I'll give them a three stars. read more

My Don and daughter-in-law had both their wedding and reception here. The venue was perfect. The decor was done just like she wanted it! The good and drinks were spot on. Polish dinner was very good. We had many compliments from friends and family on how good the meal was. No matter hat size party your planning there are three rooms to choose from. We used the Grand Ballroom. It will hold 300 and has a deck out back that looks out over the River. Definitely check out what The Riverside Terrace has to offer. It's a one stop shop. We had our wedding here this July and thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Riverside Terrace. The ballroom was lovely and our guests all had nice things to say about the venue. It's especially nice since they have a front room that we were able to use for our cocktail hour before filtering guests into the ballroom. The only issues we encountered were some communication difficulties with Cindy (she remembered our meal choices incorrectly at first and wasn't sure if we had made one of the payments). However, if you're very organized and keep track of what exactly you want and make sure to always follow up with your choices by email, everything should work out. I would definitely use Riverside Terrace again!! read more

My fiance and I looked at Riverside Terrace twice hoping that our experience would have been better second time round. It wasn't. Both times we walked in to Cindy's office to meet here where she didn't even get up to shake out hands. Both times she pointed to a table with photo albums on it and told us to take a look. They just displayed pictures of centerpieces and other useless small details of past events that Riverside doesn't even offer. Absolutely nothing helpful. When we asked her if we could see the room she led us to a windowed room that looked down on the "River Room" and when asked if we could go down and actually see it - she led us to a stairway and said she would see us back upstairs when we were done looking. What salesperson doesn't lead the customer around answering all questions along the way?? Cindy ruined our experience twice. She couldn't answer questions and her "packet" of information was formatted so poorly and left out all information on this "new" room that has been there for several years. She said she was working on updating the packet and would be done in a couple weeks. I emailed her 3 months later to see if it was updated and she was still "working on it". DO NOT GIVE HER YOUR MONEY!!! GO SOME WHERE ELSE! read more

I have been to 3 Wedding Receptions here and will never go to another one here. By the time I got my food at the 1st one 80% were done eating and dancing. Wedding 2 Buffet style They were asking for everyone to come up and get seconds before I even had my food and then pulled the food very quickly before all were through eating, Wedding 3 my son never got a meal at all. My husband and I were married on the 31st of October 2015 and we selected the River Room at The Riverside Terrace for our reception hall. South Bend is wonderful in the fact that there are many options to choose from! We were looking for a place that felt young, modern, open, and most importantly eccentric in a way that people would always remember the space. We also knew pretty early that we were going to have a larger guest count so having enough space was crucial. When I received an email from my Mom with an image of the River Room at the Riverside Terrace I cried tears of absolute JOY and RELIEF. The image didn't show the whole room, but it did show the magnificent ceiling and lighting with a key decorative piece that my husband and I absolutely had to have...globe lighting. I couldn't respond fast enough to schedule a visit! The River Room at the Riverside Terrace took my breath away. Huge vaulted ceilings, industrial chic decor, massive dance floor, wall to wall windows overlooking the beautiful St. Joseph River, a large welcoming fireplace and SO MUCH ROOM! On top of that we got to work very closely with Cindy. The woman was heaven sent. We immediately felt at ease and comfortable that she could handle absolutely anything we threw at her. We had quite a few questions and ideas about how to transform the space. Cindy answered quickly and tried to find ways to make anything we wanted work. How rare is that today in customer service?! And the FOOD....oh my word...the food was spectacular. So delicious and so many options! If you are looking for an artistic, industrial chic, well-priced, high-end, memorable and accommodating space for your wedding reception do yourself a favor and call Cindy at the Riverside Terrace and schedule a visit. read more

I recently had a reception here at Riverside Terrace. Let me start off with Cindy she made the planning as easy as possible. We walked in and told her what we wanted and she made it happen! She was really professional and not pushy. The day of the reception everything was set up for us.The food and service staff was top notch! The bartenders was on their toes and super quick and on point! The river room was beautiful and spotless the valet parking was quick and really professional. I couldn't ask for a better place to have a reception They pulled strings when we wanted something that they didn't have they helped us in every process of the planning and throughout the event it was an amazing night I would highly recommend Riverside Terrace thank you Riverside Terrace and everybody that made our night better then we expected! read more

Buyer Beware. The facilities are nice, but the owner isn't great. I had my wedding here in July and a week before the event the owner Cindy seemed to have forgotten all about it. Throughout the process of planning she came across as rude and uninterested at times. The owner also added thousands of dollars of unnecessary and unapproved charges in our bill (I called her on it and she removed the stuff). The Math just didn't add up. I would say if you insist on going here make sure you have 3 things: 1. A lot of time to babysit your event planning 2. A good calculator, to go over the invoice more than once 3. A back up plan our wedding day ended up well, and the day of service was great, but this is all in spite of the terrible customer service leading up to it. P.s. take the negative reviews seriously, I read some before I chose this place, but decided to go with it anyways (it seemed to have lower upfront cost). And we ended up negatively paying for our choice. read more

We booked Riverside Terrace for our Employee Appreciation event and it was fantastic! We decided to do a buffet style with a sirloin carver, the house bar, and had about 90 guests. The food was absolutely delicious, the drinks were a great value for the price, and the space was lovely! I'm not sure why people would rate the venue so low, but I have had nothing but compliments from all of our employees. Thanks again for providing such a great space for us! :) read more

My mom told the bartender they needed more servers and when she walked away my cousin was standing behind her and she said he said "Fing Bitch at my wedding, so that was pretty disheartening to hear and unprofessional. Also, several of the servers dropped the food. Several complaints about that. Other than that beautiful venue. read more

my partner works here. i have to sit and listen to them complain after every event, about being overworked past their legal hours. most of the catering is done by people under 17. they are verbally abused by cindy, and i've recently been hearing about "messups" in the checks. charges are going to be pressed in a matter of time due to mental and physical health problems the workers receive as a result. they are only allowed one fifteen minute break AFTER the event, usually 5-7 hours. not supposed to eat or drink during the event unless on break. not allowed to go home early, even if you're working over the legal limit. don't come here. the poor staff is being treated terribly. read more

If I could give a 0 star I would. Never will I do business with them! I had a wedding reception planned for June 10th. Everything was all ready to go on our end, we just had to pay for the venue. When we arrived to pay there were charges that were not discussed nor written in the contract. "Mandatory" drink packages, surcharges, and $25 per bottle SPARKLING GRAPE JUICE!!! The cost spiraled out of control. When my wife and I asked why Cindy's, the hall manager, response was "i'm in the business to make money". My wife and I left that day discouraged and in need of a reception venue, All 3 weeks prior to our wedding. Luckily Knollwood Country Club had an opening for our day and did everything in their power to accommodate us. Interesting part was Cindy called us the following week and told us after "speaking with someone" that we dont have to get their "mandatory" packages but by that time we already had everything set at Knollwood. It turned out to be amazing and we ended up saving money! I tried to have my $500 deposit returned from Riverside, but all she says is the the deposit is non refundable and now will not respond to my emails. Riverside is a nice hall run by someone who does bad business. read more
