I ate there last week with some golfing buddies and was very disappointed. Previous visits have…read morealways been good, but this time I ordered the Seafood Special, that came with a lobster tail, shrimps, scallops, mussels and calamari. The waitress said that if I didn't like calamari, they would substitute with some additional shrimp. When the dish arrived, I didn't get additional shrimp, what they did was add some extra mussels. In fact, the meal was almost all mussels. There was a lobster tail, but in the whole meal there was only one scallop and three shrimp, all of which were significantly overcooked and rubbery. The waitress was pleasant and attentive, but it took a long time for the food to arrive, which I would think be unusual for a Thursday afternoon around 4:00 o'clock. I will certainly think twice before eating there again, and if I do, seafood will not be on the menu for me.

I am absolutely glad that I did The friendly owner greeted me on his little patio, surrounded by the elevated herb garden. After reviewing their mouthwatering menu I settled on the brisket, smoked with great skill in-house. I have had brisket in Montreal and New York and this Peterborough gem topped all of that. I wish I could post the aroma; simply incredible. So perfectly fresh! They have breakfast, lunch and dinner and a fine keto menu, too. Sure, it's not the best location in town yeis right across the street from a restaurant landmark. Why did it take me so long to try Hendows?! Best food in Peterborough. I plan to be a regular.

It was lunchtime and the restaurant was completely empty except for a couple with kids sitting in the outside patio. Maybe that should have been our first clue. The guy serving us seemed pretty cool until my husband told a joke that he did not understand turning his service sour from that moment on - perhaps he was just having a bad day, who knows, but certainly no need for despotism. Good service or bad service doesn't make a difference to us if the food is good and it wasn't so we will never return.

The atmosphere was fine and the young man serving us was very nice and helpful. We got a little bowl of seasoned tater tots to snack on while we waited. They were tasty with the dip. When our burgers came.. they came on small plates and first impressions was.. is that it? It was super small and not even close to a big dirty burger I was looking for. The flavour was lacking in both the meat and the toppings. We also got a poutine to share. The portion was good but the fries were small cut, I like my fries thick cut. The gravy was ok. Overall my experience was ok, but I don't think I'll go back. It was not what I was expecting out of "The Dirty Burger"

We ordered three dishes - Pear and beet salad, Chicken parmigiana and Smoked salmon egg Benedict. They were all priced below $15. The portion of each dish was generous. The salad came with perfectly cooked pear and beet. It was nicely seasoned with balsamic vinegar dressing and goat cheese. Chicken parmigiana was phenomenal - with perfect amount of cheese and tomato sauce. Smoked salmon benefit was ok - a bit saggy with Hollande sauce and side potatoes were overly cooked. Staff were very friendly as well. The interior was simple but clean. We will definitely go back to this restaurant when we are in the neighborhood!
