Today was our first visit to Riley's and we had a great experience! The music was playing nice and loud the way I like it. My mocktail was perfect and delicious. My hubby and I both ordered the steak sandwiches and were not disappointed. The steaks were cooked to perfection. We would have stayed for dessert but we were too full maybe next time. For those of you who have children: you'll be happy to know there's a kids menu. Based on today's experience, we will definitely be back. This was my second time visiting Riley's Pub. The place was busy and we had to sit on the Junction side. The Pros are great service. The waitress even offered us tickets to the music festival that they had left over. The food has always been on par for a pub. The atmosphere is pub like so can be noisy and for some reason it was cold inside. Would recommend. read more

For some reason they have you come through the pool hall to get to the restaurant. So you are assaulted by blaring music when entering. But a little nicer music on the restaurant side. Still very loud. Our waitress was very nice and pleasant but very slow to bring our check when we were done. Food had gigantic portions. We both had to get boxes. I got their chicken with wild mushrooms, that comes with a large salad, a large portion of sautéed veggies, a huge portion of rice, two chicken breasts smothered in mushroom gravy. My husband ordered fried pickles as an appetizer, they were good. Then he also got the P.J.L.T. Famous Canadian peameal bacon, pepper Jack cheese, crisp lettuce, tomatoes and mayo, served on a kaiser. The bacon was so thick that one piece would have been more than enough. Visitors in Peterborough from Toronto. This place has horrible service. Riley's is attached to 3 other venues, a pool hall, a night club (junction) and a roof top patio. My wife and I arrived for a drink and a bite to eat. The lady serving us was short and didn't even bring us water. We ordered wings and we didn't even get dip or veggies. We had to ask for it (with another server). Would not recommend this place for food or drinks. Perhaps the other venues have better service. read more

This place is really awesome!! First it looks like a restaurant, then you turn a corner and it's a giant pool hall!! Two fully stocked bars and a bunch of taps. It was busy for a Tuesday evening (I think) and the wait staff seemed a bit stressed. We ordered beers and then dinner. Our meals came with salads to start. I had the house (iceberg lettuce, carrots, red onion, cucumber and croutons) and my BF had a Caesar (Parmesan cheese, lots of bacon and croutons). His salad was much better. I got the Cajun Pork. For a plate that cost $16, it was so worth it. I got mashed potatoes, fresh veggies (cooked in a little olive oil) and garlic bread. The man got Pesto Penne Pasta with chicken. Just got back from a trip up to the Kawartha lakes and we decided to visit some friends in Peterborough. We decided on some lunch at our friends favorite patio...The Junction or as it is also called Rilely's Olde Towne Pub. The Junction is a huge night club / bar at night and Riley's is the pub/ restaurant portion of it during the day. The patio is located on the roof of the building and has an excellent view of Peterborough. Location: In central downtown Peterborough, lots of parking and close to transit. Restaurant: There are 2 parts to the restaurant/bar/nightclub, the entrance to Riley's brings you to the the pub section of the facility. It is decorated in an Irish pub feel, with plenty of seating and there are pool tables located in the rear. The Junction is the night club portion of it, it is closed during the day, but it shares it's patio with Riley's and you can access it from either entrance. Service: Very Good, we were quickly sat, got our drink orders quickly, gave us enough time to look at the menu, gave suggestions, took our order, refills, dropped off food, table checks and so forth..all the Steps of service were followed. Food: Average..the food was the usual pub fare, with some added twists . I ordered the Pulled pork burger (Pulled pork, bbq sauce, coleslaw and jack cheese) along with the waffle cut fries that were made to a poutine. The burger was cooked well and the pulled pork was a little bland, the poutine was different because of the waffle fries, but still very tasty. The rest of the table order a variety of different wraps, which all looked good. The portion sizes are good and worth the money. Impressions: If your looking for a great patio with an excellent view in Peterborough, you can't beat Riley's /The Junction. Pub fare is the standard when it comes to the food selections here, but you can get Pasta's and steaks as well. We have not yet tried coming during the evening, but on our next stop over in Peterborough we are sure to be back. read more

My daughter and I went in for dinner Wed. August 11, 2021. We had reservations, it was quiet and we were seated next to the bar. After making our selections, sitting with our menus closed and at the edge of our table our waiter stood at the table beside us talking to a group of his friends. It felt purposeful that we were being ignored and left waiting. We said that we would start with water. We were not brought a drinks menu, or offered anything else. I tried ordering jalapeno poppers , and was told he didn't have any. Went to order the deep fried cheese curds and the waiter interrupted to suggest the broccoli bites, oddly adding that I might not like them because they have bacon in them. We ordered the curds. My daughter orders a BLT wrap, and I ordered 1lb of Chipotle wings, and a side ceaser salad. The deep fried cheese curds were okay, a marinara sauce would have matched better as a dip than ranch. The BLT wrap arrived. It looked great, and my daughter said she enjoyed it. My 1lb of Chipotle wings arrived. The sauce didn't remind me of any chipotle flavor I had before, and they seemed small, overcooked and dry. I ate two, taking the rest in a to go container that went in the garbage. They served the wings with one piece of celery, and one piece of carrot. I like that they still included the veg. The side ceaser salad never arrived. My daughter only had a wrap, I wasn't eating the wings and I decided I didn't even want the ceaser salad anyhow. The waiter came to the table and instead of asking how things were, he said 'Somethings missing', which I answered the salad. He said he would have it sent out, I declined. He said it would only take a minute and it would be right out. I declined, pointing out that my company was done eating, and I was taking mine to go. He offered again, I declined and stated that salad doesn't travel well anyhow. He again tried to sell the salad by saying all the ingredients came separate, and I would mix them. I again declined. It wouldn't be the same as what was offered in restaurant, and I wasn't interested in paying the same price for a sub par product, where I had to do the work. We asked for, and waited a long time for our bill. He walked past us multiple times as he took the orders of people around us, mixed multiple drinks and again walked past us as he delivered the drinks. We didn't get our bill until I stood up, making it clear I was leaving. He brought it over saying 'You must have some good plans tonight, since you are in such a hurry'. My daughter explained we wanted to make it to the grocery store before they closed, and she payed the bill. What she didn't explain was that we wanted dessert but had no faith in ordering it there. We wanted to make the grocery store to buy frozen ice cream novelties instead of treating ourselves to a dessert in the restaurant where we had dinner. We left and prefered to sit on the curb in the parking lot of the No Frills and eat our ice cream, rather than risk our time and money further at Rileys, Peterborough. My daughter payed the bill and we left. She forgot her purse there. When we realized and called about it we were told it was there, probably because we were in such a hurry to leave. We didn't enjoy it being commented on more than once that we were in a hurry. I was astounded just how oblivious this hospitality worker was to himself and how he treated us. There was nothing hospitable about our experience. When we are forced to interact with him again just to retrieve our personal belongings, he took the opportunity again to past judgement instead of asking 'Why are my customers fleeing?' My daughter would not go back into the restaurant because she felt so uncomfortable. When I went in, the two guys on the door refused to point out the manager, one saying that he had not seen them in awhile, and the other one claiming to not even know his managers name. When I took the purse from the waiter that served us, he for some reason asked 'Is this your friends bag' to which I replied 'My daughters' We have thought a lot about posting this review and wouldn't normally take the time but I want to share how unwelcome and out of place we were made to feel at Riley's Peterborough. We were left with the unsettling feelings of wondering why we were treated how we were. Based on his assumption that I would not want bacon, or the snide way in which he asked if the young woman I had been dining with was a 'friend' I can't help but feel like hateful, and backwards views and opinions were lodged against us by this waiter the moment we walked in. read more

A great place to eat! Absolutely love the atmosphere, when the restaurant isn't very busy (don't go on a Tuesday). The potion sizes are amazing for the actual price of the food. The food is great pub food. Note the experience does vary dependent on the waiter, some are great others are semi rude or will disappear for a large potion of time. OMG the lattice fries. GET THEM!!! They. Are. Fantastic. We were pleasantly surprised by the prices here - extremely reasonable for the "upscale pub" feel they're going for! But we are used to Toronto restos, so perhaps this is just the Peterborough factor? We would have easily paid double for the same in TO. Big portions as well. Mr. Rosie S. got a burger and fries and said it was "just OK". My grilled cheese was awful (which is not easy to accomplish on such a simple dish). OK place. Food is decent and the people are fine. A couple of things are odd about the place though. Last time I was there I had to call 911 on some dude who was passed out in minus 20 weather outside and was choking on his own vomit. There were a lot of other people outside smoking, but no one else seemed to care. The time before that I was propositioned by another customer which was cool and then she said it would cost me $175 an hour. Very disappointed. Called after 5 PM to make a reservation for following night. Was told that I could make a reservation for 6 people, but they were too busy to take information at that time so I needed to call back at 7:30 PM. At 7:30 PM I called back and was informed that I could NOT make a reservation for 6 people the following night because it is there busy time. What does that mean... they turn down business because they just don't want a table reserved??? A reservation is guaranteed business.... Either you take reservations or you don't. Used to love this place! What happened?... food is still good, but the service is something to be desired. Our drinks were made incorrectly, and was a shit show guilt trip trying to get just the one drink taken off our bill. Eventually after we explained that their menu does not list apple juice in the appletini, and should not be in a $9 drink ever. It was made with apple juice and water, and the ice floating in it is also not how to make a $9 martini. Also there was no garnish on the expensive drink. The bartender finally said "well this comes off my pay check"and removed the drink from our bill, if it was made correctly, it wouldn't have been sent back...very disappointed with my service, keep up the good food tho! read more

Oh my, where to start.. We never had the chance to "enjoy" the atmosphere as we were told to relocate to the bar. We DID NOT enjoy our encounter with the staff and management, as a matter of fact we felt UNWELCOMED! As we had teens with rather large appetites, waiting to be feed after a long day at a dance competition, we sought out a table on the restaurant side of the bar. We were told that there was not enough room for us (by the way, we had 10 people) there were 3 tables available... one table could hold up to 8-10 people and the other 2 tables could hold up to 4 people. Also, there were 2 empty booths that likely held 6 people each. They stated "they were waiting for their dinner rush"... Gee, we wanted dinner too and I'm sure we were a part of the dinner rush?!?!?!? When I asked if the tables were reserved, I was told no... Available tables and no prior reservations... Do the math.. When we asked why, we were told because the manager told them to... -When we asked to speak to the manager, there was no one available; well, because they had spoke to him on the phone. Even more surprisingly, the manager DID reply to my text and offered the explanation that this was standard practice to have large groups in the bar area AND, shame on us, we had bypassed the host. THAT'S RIGHT, HE BLAMED US - or tried to!!! Thank goodness he reponsed in writing.. From the bar side we were directed to the restaurant, and we looked for the host and asked about all of the options including the use of the other tables. But no luck ... Who wants to sit in a bar with 14 and 15 year olds??? What young teen wants to sit with their parents (hence the use of the other tables) and finally, why turn away well over $450.00 in food and drinks orders? Clearly, we were not welcomed, our money not good enough and as members of this very diverse country we were treated very differently. It seems we had too much pigmentation for their liking??? Their inflexibility and unwillingness to find a solution was painful for us and particularly our kids. Shameful and sad.. Horrid experience.. Atmosphere was ok...the restaurant was very busy for lunch the day I was there which made the music beat sound annoying over all the chatter. Not the fault of anyone. Selection was good. Service was a bare minimum ok. Took a while to get someone to the table but once he arrived it was ok. Not great. Food was good and they got all my requests right! My biggest issue here is it's 2018 and they are still not accepting debit. This is a huge flag for me. It tells me the owner would rather make money on the ATM in there instead of pay to have it easier for the customers. However, they accept credit cards which has a higher service charge?! So I have to pay min 3.00 to take out cash where he makes 40% min of this each time to pay for my lunch?! No. I understand the night club upstairs not having it but the restaurant should have debit. Doesn't seem to bother other patrons as much as it was really busy but we won't go back.....bad enough you pay tips after taxes these days I'm not paying anymore money to access MY money. read more

Food was 4/5 hot and tasty. Service was ok at first then got slower and slower. I then told him that we did not need to come there. The staff has been rude on several occasions. Slow and have an attitude.
