No, "Good morning" or "Welcome to Stauffers. Please let me know if I can help you find anything in particular." No warm welcome or acknowledgement of any kind was presented to me - the only customer in the entire store at the time. I approached and engaged her before she would speak. I greeted her and asked if she could assist me with checking in on the app. She said, "No, not until you buy something." Woah! Disrespect is a 1000% no-no with me. I let her know that I shop at other Stauffers locations frequently and have never received that response. Unbeknownst to this individual, it was another clerk from a different Stauffers who told me to always check in via the app upon arriving as many people forget to use the check-in app after they complete their shopping. So going off of what I was previously told by another Stauffers clerk at a different location, I told this clerk that I decline to shop in a store that makes me feel unwelcome and unappreciated. She doubled down that this is their policy and I left the store. Her need to exhibit lackluster, dismissive and racist energy toward me lost Stauffers my business. Had I been white, I do not believe this woman would have treated me in such a manner. Had I been white, I would have had an enjoyable interaction with caring staff and would have completed my shopping plans. Thanks to this brief, but awful experience with the clerk at the 1075 Middletown Rd, Hummelstown, PA location, I am taking my presence, my business and my dollars elsewhere. However, I was looking for native plants with lots of pollinator support, and struggled to find any plants I recognized. I am searching for a native tree to put in my front yard, and thought I'd at least find a selection of Redbuds, but all they had out front were dozens of Japanese Maples. Even if I did find a "native plant!" tag, it rarely had the actual plant's name on it. So - if you're looking for impressive landscaping, this place is probably great. But if you're trying to support your native ecosystem, search elsewhere.

I was passing through the neighborhood about a week ago with my buddies and saw Mr. Fidler out on…read morehis tractor. I waved to him and asked him if we could fish in the pond on his property. He gave us an enthusiastic yes. After he was done with his field work he came over to us and we all introduced ourselves and thanked him again. He told us all about the ecosystem of the pond. Mr. Fidler's knowledge of nursery, gardening, farming, fishing and all the different ecosystems really rang true that day and we definitely learned a few things. I never knew Mr. Fidler sold Christmas trees in the winter and also different trees, flowers, plants, etc. I now know where I'm going to buy my next apple tree. Mr. Fidler's kindness and generosity is unmatched by any of his competitors. Next winter during the Christmas season, my friends and I will definitely pay him a visit, not to fish, but to get a Fidler Christmas tree! Thanks again Mr. Fidler!
