Riverside Dental is amazing. We have (unfortunately) had the opportunity to see them in action multiple times this past month. The routine exam and cleaning was gently done, efficient, and as pleasant as a dentist visit could possibly be. We also had a family member who needed an emergency visit, an extraction and a deep cleaning over the course of 3 weeks. Everyone he worked with was kind and understanding of the anxiety and pain involved and did their best to mitigate it as much as possible. The long hours make it easy to get an appointment and they are happy to let you know if something opens up earlier (if you want). Office staff is helpful, office is nice, easy parking. All in all an outstanding dentist, highly recommend. read more

I came in for an appointment the other day and there was a lady just hanging out in the waiting area. She was waiting for another patient. She had some kind of face shield on, no mask over her mouth and nose. She had no business being in there, endangering patients and staff. You should have gently pushed her out the door. It was not snowing nor cold. If she came by car she could have gone to her car. If she took the bus she could have taken a ride around the block in the nice warm bus. These guys were awesome! Went in to get glue removed on my tooth from a tooth gem, waked in and said it would be about $120, which I don't have a problem paying because I wanted this off my tooth. They then got me in right away. After the procedure, they told me to not worry about it, and they were going to take care of it. This day and age... that's unheard of. She scheduled us for the soonest available then told us she would put us on a waitlist if we wanted. I am embarassed to say it but I hate going to the dentist but this place is "The Happiest Place on Earth". Ha ha Well how about the happiest dental office in Clark County. All joking aside this is the most friendly and happy dental office I have ever been to. If you have fear of dental procedures, this is your place. I have been coming here for over a year and 4 cleanings and 2 crowns later, I no longer fear dental procedures. Dr Hough has assembled an awesome staff and they work seamlessly as a team. The person who has done 2 of my cleanings (Tom) is great and his fishing tips have been very helpful. Dr Hough is very warm and professional. The office is in a really cool house with an eclectic but very comfortable decor. There is no shortage of dentists in Clark County and when I first moved here it seemed that every block had a dental office. I did quite a bit of research before selecting Riverside Dental for my family. I didn't want a large group practice or chain franchise. I am very happy with my selection and believe you will too. My first visit went great! I had done all my paperwork online so I had nothing to do other than arrive for my 1st visit. I was warmly greeted by the front desk and found the office space/waiting room is warm and friendly. Walter, the dental hygienist was great! He asked all the right questions and was so very careful and gentle with x-rays and my cleaning. I'm not a regular patient of RIverside Dental, but I had a non-emergency issue during the Christmas week when most of the other dental offices in the area take a vacation week. I called in the morning and they fit me in that afternoon. A very nice waiting room, with living room type furniture, not cheap, hard chairs. A friendly staff full of smiles. Because they had squeezed me in, I had to wait a little for the doctor to finish up with the previous patient. During that time, the staff was very attentive while I sat nervously in the chair and waited. My issue turned out to be more complicated than I thought (due to radiation therapy I had for throat cancer), and couldn't be fixed that afternoon. But the doctor cobbled together a temporary fix to get me through until I could see an oral surgeon. He was very professional and explained his concerns in a way that was easy to understand. I was there for the better part of an hour, and when it was all said and done the total bill was less than a hundred dollars. I can't say it was enjoyable. After all, it's the dentist. But considering my unique situation, they did the best they could for me and I'm totally happy with how everything turned out. read more

I've been going to Riverside Dental for over a year now. I really like both Dr Hough for my dentist and Alona for my hygienist. Both are very friendly and kind and they explain procedures to me in a way that I can understand. They really have the patient's comfort as a high priority. I've had some hygienists from other dental offices that were gentle and some that were very painful so I was so relieved with my first cleaning appointment with Alona. I never had soreness from her procedures and she is just a lovely person to chat with. She has given me some really good tips on improving my at-home dental care and it's made a difference for me. Dr Hough is very patient. She tells me what is needed and advises me on how urgent something is so that I can make wise choices. I also notice the respect she gives to her staff members. The office staff is very courteous and helpful too. I really feel they go above and beyond to schedule appointments and process insurance claims for their patients. Overall, Riverside Dental is a great place and I would highly recommend them. read more

Then when I went to pay, I was told their new in house insurance plan covers one emergent visit. So I am super happy about that. They take the time to talk with you and involve you in care decisions. I used riverside dental for the whole time we lived in the pnw. They were always kind and the work was great. I was diagnosed with mouth cancer in May and I called them up. I needed an immediate exam and if any work that was needed it had to happen immediately before my cancer treatment started. They were so understanding and genuinely caring about my diagnosis. They also knew I was moving to get cancer care and that didn't effect their compassion. Good place full of good people. read more

Update 2017: Still GREAT! When I first wrote this review in 2011, Dr. Eric Messenger was the dentist that owned it. He has since sold the practice, and Dr. Jennifer Hough is the new owner. I was skeptical because I LOVED Dr. Messenger, but I stuck around to see how I liked it. I have to say, I LOVE Dr. Hough. She is amazing at what she does, and the entire office atmosphere is friendly and caring. Everyone is nice, they obviously love their jobs and work environment and I can tell that it's important to Dr. Hough to provide excellent care. In fact, she usually says, "We're gong to take excellent care of you.." and she means it! So, if you have dental fear (I do), they are very compassionate and work with you. I've never felt like anything I need is "an imposition." She also doesn't do unnecessary procedures. I'm always given several price point choices about work, and also given any downsides to going cheaper. But it's MY choice. Oh, and I can't tell you how many times a dentist has tried to sell me Invisalign. I was finally in a place where I was thinking about re-straightening my teeth, and she told me, "No, you're not a candidate because of... "x". WOW... really? How amazing is that! She gave me a good referral to an orthodontist. And one more thing... they JUST got in a whitening system that is just $99 and 20 minutes in the office and NO CUSTOM TRAY TO BUY. I had stopped whitening because I was super sensitive after pregnancy and also trays are expensive. I just did this new system and holy smokes! White teeth, fraction of the price of ZOOM and no sensitivity. I was not sure.. but NOTHING. No zings, nothing!! So, if you can't guess.... I HIGHLY recommend these guys!! Oh, and Jenn the hygienist is GOLDEN. I won't see anyone else. Super knowledgeable, totally works with me on areas of sensitivity. It's just a joy to get my teeth cleaned again. read more

Everyone I interacted with at my first appointment with Riverside Dental was super nice and helpful, they were welcoming but also conscious of Covid. The person who cleaned my teeth was always making sure I was comfortable and nothing was painful, which I appreciated. I first saw Dr. Hough a few years ago. I had 4 ancient crowns from a bike accident many years ago and needed a lot of work to get my teeth ready for new ones: a root canal, root tip surgery and an implant. Figuring out how to get this done effectively was overwhelming. Dr. Hough helped me create a plan to do it in phases and to make the best use of my insurance. Through 2017, 2018 and this year it all came together. Kudos to Dr. Hough, Amy, Holli and the rest of the Riverside team. Great patient care! read more

Very frustrated by this dental practice and won't be going back. I had a veneer on a front tooth redone by them that was old and chipping. Between the temp and permanent one, the assistant left some cement up under my gum on the back side that caused quite a bit of pain. Then a few months after the permanent one was placed, it fell off- happened while I was taste testing homemade hummus! Not like something hard. And now after they fixed on 9/6/16, it has fallen off again. I have no confidence that it will stay on but will go somewhere else for a better solution when the time comes. I do have to say that they are all very nice, just incompetent. Update: To Dr. Hough, I have nothing to discuss with you other to say that I won't be coming back.. The veneer did come off AGAIN, for the 3rd time. I went to another dental office to have it fixed and will continue with that office. They spent an hour with me and charged less than your office did (and that fix failed). I was honestly shocked that you billed my insurance for a failure. read more

This is my favorite dental office in years! They put you at ease from the moment you walk in. I saw Dr Hough for exam and Dana for cleaning. Both very professional and thorough. It is not a rushed experience, they make sure you are comfortable with no pressure. I normally get very nervous at the Dentist office, it can be an anxiety provoking experience, but my experience with this office (yesterday) couldn't have been better. They also have state of the art x-ray equipment that gives very detailed and clear images, unlike some of the old-school equipment found at other dental offices. Also, they are very reasonable with their charges. All around THE dentist office to go to. Dr. Harris joined the practice this year; though I did not meet her, I have confidence she is very competent as well. Easy to find near the border of Washougal-Camas. Easy scheduling. read more

I was frightened walking through those doors today and hadn't been to the dentist in over a year. I had a horrible prior and was to anxious to even schedule an appointment. Things got worse when I cracked my tooth and I knew I had to go. So I took my shaking hands and my nervous body in there.
