While most of our visits here had been positive our most recent visit has changed my mind…read morecompletely about this practice. Dr. Kindra did not communicate with us at all about pricing and misled us in the test that he would be providing for our dog. When I called the clinic to get some clarity about the difference between the two tests that were done on my dog the receptionist got off the phone with me and put the Vet on the phone only for him to get on and tell me that I was giving her a hard time. The bill was $300 which was a lot more than was anticipated. He then tried to use unnecessarily large medical vocabulary in what seemed like an attempt to confuse me. When I told him that the appointment had been made for something different than what was on the receipt he told me he was trying to save me money. That's all well and good but it should've been communicated before the test was even done. The receptionist then got on the phone again and told me I owed an additional $50 for the test that I had originally wanted. I had clearly made the call because financially, $300 was Way out of our price range for what we were looking for. To consider the solution to this problem, charging me additional money lacked any empathy. There is a certain level of respect and decorum that you should have when working directly with people; especially people who are in difficult financial situations, trying to make sure that their pet stays healthy. The lack of respect that these people had for me this evening while simply trying to figure out what blood test my dog had and why she had it is not acceptable. Update: we got our test results 2 days later, though we were told they would be ready next day. The passive aggressive voicemail stated that my "back and forth" with which test I wanted caused the delay. Asked for the medical records and see that the results were, in fact, ready the night the test was done and was reviewed 8am the next day. An outright lie to try to blame me for his tardiness in calling with results. While I know Dr. Kindra has many positive reviews, and by our account he was good with our dog, the games he's played with this situation have been the most unprofessional behavior I've seen from a veterinarian.

Dr. Suter was incredibly supportive during a health crisis with our beloved dog. I fostered my dog starting Sept 2015…read moreand when I started Odette's program in April 2016, my pup had had constant diarrhea for who knows how long. I went to his regular vet multiple times, was prescribed expensive prescription dog food, lots of medications, etc, but nothing helped. On top of that, he was gaining weight. He was 35lbs when I first brought him home ballooned up to 50lbs (too much for a dog his size). He was also extremely anxious, stressed, and very fear aggressive. The first thing Odette did was do blood work and saliva tests. Lo and behold, my dog was allergic to chicken! The main ingredient in his prescription food. Under Dr. Suter's care, I learned all about animal health and nutrition. My dog's anxiety and stress is getting much better as well. She also did some chiropractic work on him (he skips on his back legs) and he's now doing so much better than I could have ever thought. Odette does AMAZING work and her goal isn't just to fix your animal's symptoms. She works to fix their overall health as well. She teaches you on animal health, with up to date statistics and information, and strives to help you become an educated pet parent. I'm so thankful to have found her! Absolutely love Odette and highly recommend her to everyone.

OVERALL this is hands-down absolutely the all-time best veterinary clinic you will find in the…read moretri-state area or a 4 hour driving window. trust me, I would know-- I used to live in a RV with my 5 dogs. The staff is incredibly kind and well mannered despite the constant level of high stress & anxiety they clearly face daily. 1st of all home slice; This is an emergency vet clinic, which means that it's walk-in only. they do schedule for surgeries and vaccinations weeks out, but they don't schedule pets by appointment/time; they schedule peta based on arrival time and emergency priority. I used to not understand this but now I do; it's because emergencies happen and sometimes they need to drop everything to try to save a dog's life. if you come on an off day or less busy time/day you can get in and out in an hour or less! when my runt was hit by a car; I called them and told that I was coming down the road and they saw him the moment I entered the clinic (he lives!) The reason people have to wait is because they prioritize what dogs they see based on the emergency level. And after both waiting several hours at a busy time and being seen immediately, I understand why they run it that way. PRICE: This is the most affordable vet clinic I've ever found. There's a reason I've been coming here for over a decade! I get their vaccinations here. I do their bloodwork here I do heartworm testing here. I get my dogs dental done here. I've had several of my dogs put under for different minor cyst removals here. I've had x-rays & checkover done when my dog was hit by a car (he lived and he's OK:) I will scream it from the rooftops; This is the absolute best veterinarian clinic I've ever found in my 20+ years of looking. I have three dogs now, i've had 6 total so far in life and if you bring in multiple dogs or if you have a dog that needs multiple procedures done, they have always given me a stack up deal. They are very supportive and they want your pet to be healthy. Just bring your dog to them. just trust me. just do it. SUPER affordable. STAFF & FACILITY All the staff are great! very nice Sharon Sarah Dawn Debbie Blue Elliott Elizabeth everyone is cool dawg it's chill the Drs are all awesome super smart & patient, there are several that rotate shifts /times/days. they are great! they will always answer my many endless questions. they have always cared about giving me good information when I ask what I should do. They are so kind. They put my dogs needs first and they give me incredible feedback about how to be a good pet owner. super affordable super kind. i'm loyal to this place. TIMING: If you have a ROUTINE check up or simple procedure or basic check in that you need to bring your dog for; just don't come on a Monday or a Friday (unless they schedule you for surgery which is always on fridays) because that's when they're the most busy. Come early morning, right when they open on like a Wednesday or Thursday and you won't even barely have to wait in line with your dog/cat I bet. or like a thursday after 1pm sometimes it's super quick & no wait! just depends on how many local area pups have tummy aches etc. please do not poo poo the quality of people who patron this clinic because at the heart of this clinic is a staff and doctors who care about your pets and giving them incredible service at an affordable price. It is really hard to get good care for your pet. We love our animals. We bring them to Fox Lake animal hospital because they are affordable and they CARE about giving you & your pet a good experience. It's so obvious to me that they don't care about frills and extra BS here they care about giving you QUALITY care for your pet without breaking your bank over nonsense fees or making you scared to come to the Vet. you shouldn't be scared to take your dog to the vet. This place is very comfortable.

It is so helpful to have someone you can ask questions of, to reassure and comfort you at a fraught and emotional time. Every criteria we had was met and exceeded: we wanted Maggie to feel no fear, to have unhurried time with her, to have a clear understanding of what was going to happen, to say goodbye on our terms. Maggie simply and immediately accepted Dr. Kriner's presence, decided she welcomed pets and affection from this sweet person she had never met. The only focus was Maggie, to have her feel complete love surrounding her, to let her enjoy cheeseburgers and chocolate, pets, hugs, kisses, many words of love, to make certain she knew exactly how special she was and always would be and that we were grateful for her life with us. There is no avoiding how heartbreaking a time it is, but to have a precious fur baby handled with love, calmness, gentleness, respect and care is an enormous comfort. We are so profoundly grateful for Dr. Kriner. She returned Maggie's ashes to us with the same compassion with which Maggie left our home. We are unspeakably touched by every aspect of interaction with Dr. Jessica Kriner of Compassionate Heart.
