I harken back to the days when Blockbuster, McDonald's, New Balance, and Prolific Oven was here. Parking lot has always been difficult to park because of space size. The variety of businesses is great. This review focuses on wheelchair accessibility of the parking, sidewalks and ramps. I am a wheelchair user. My family and I wanted to go to Red Robin July, 22, 2025. The disabled parking spaces closest to Red Robin were blocked by construction vehicles. I had to park three blocks away. Most of the ramps I had to use were in horrible condition. I did not feel safe navigating them by myself. Many of the ramps were not at an ADA compliant slope, and the concrete was crumbled away in many places creating unsafe traditions from sidewalks to streets. This area really is no safe for wheelchair users. read more

It would be a perfect world if you get them both ..;-) I love the area here, a small shopping center fill with all kind of stores you can imagine, enough for your needs from groceries, banks, restaurants, coffee & tea, yoga, fast food, phone service, beauty salon, library, etc....Also police station is close by giving a feeling of a safe place. I love the men in uniform, lol..!! Very convenient for the neighborhood. Stop whining for the parking lot people, just park somewhere and walk over. This shopping center can get very crowded and difficult to park. It had some good restaurants but the Japanese place and prolific oven closed without a replacement in a year. It's gone downhill the last few years. The other restaurants are just ok. The Safeway regularly runs out of items, especially in produce. It's an ok shopping by ut they need to add more businesses so since businesses closed. read more

I used to frequent this plaza when I was at my previous employer. This is still my preferred place to go for Safeway because aside from the one in Milpitas, this is the nicest Safeway in the area. Wells Fargo is here, Key Point, Postal Annex, Cold Stone Creamery, Prolific Oven, Baja Fresh, Quizno's, Mezbaan (one of my favorites), Yo Yo Sushi, Red Robin, Posh Bagel, Yan Asian Bistro, Peet's Coffee, Piatti Ristorante & Bar, McD's, Premier Pizza (yum), and many more can somewhat satisfy your tummies at lunch or if you need banking services but beware... this place gets super packed. I wish there was valet service here. Would I go here if I'm not working? Yes, but only for Safeway. Can I see myself here everyday at lunch? Yes, because Mezbaan and Premier kicks ass. read more

By far, I've never had trouble parking at other plazas, but this place troubles me. I hate waiting for a parking spot during lunch or dinner hours. You'll have to fight for parking and weave through excessive "traffic" in a parking lot. I'd rather look for parking in SF but this is crazy! Regardless of their parking structure, it doesn't offer enough space to provide cars to park. In other news, I like what the plaza offers. Pearl tea drinks, Safeway (open 24 hours), Red Robin for burgers and fries, coffee at Peet's, Italian restaurant, Beauty supply store, etc. read more

I go here a lot now because my boyfriend lives right across the street. This plaza has everything from a supermarket to HELLA food places. Plus,you could choose from either coffee from Starbucks in Safeway or Peet's coffee,and if you don't want those two you can always get a drink at Fantasia! Was looking for Baja Fresh and found Rivermark. The center was packed for a Thursday night, but we found parking close to Baja then walked over to Safeway. They built this big ol' shopping complex next to a big ol' hotel and tons of residential housing. Not only did they not plan for parking, the spaces are too small. And a five unit apartment and condo complex is still yet to finish build. Crowded lots, narrows spaces, and my Asian brethren playing bumper cars with our Indian cousins? Ok, so I wanna complain about the parking. Just kidding. I really want to BITCH about the way people drive here. Every time I am here I pray that I won't get hit, or better yet, get run over walking across the street by some crazy Mom try to smack her kids in the back of the minivan why attempting to negotiate a round about. This place has tons of food options, and then suddenly, a tanning place and a dental office. Seems a little random. I come here to attend the Bar Method, and I frequently hit the Safeway as long as I am able to park my car without any dents, and can make it past the swerving mini-vans. Or, even better, avoid the blue hair driving a 80s vintage Chrysler New Yorker with a broken tail light and no power steering. I also enjoy the people watching. Particularly at the Safeway. Now, everyone says this is all commercial looking, blah blah blah. I'm sorry, but all those places that look "typical" are always packed. At the end of the day, we are like some things to be a little Brady Bunch. Predictable, reliable, blended to different tastes, and nicely landscaped. read more

The only shopping center around if you happen to live in North San Jose (Montague area). You have it all there and everything is pretty new and kept clean. Be aware that is kind of difficult to find parking, as it gets filled quickly with all those shoppers that go to Safeway, but if you drive a little bit further or park at the library parking lot you will save some time. The layout is very good, you get the nice rotonda there with the fountain and the 'village' feeling, even if faux. Some nice restaurants, like Italian and the usual fast food. PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNTMENT: If you drive any kind of SUV (Land Rover, GMC, Hummer, etc.) or Minivan. . . YOU ARE NOT A COMPACT CAR! I would like to give this plaza 4 stars because the area is really niice! it's clean.. nice place to just chill like a villain.. there's mickey deez for all you budget ballers and some overpriced wine/pizza place.. LOL! but my favorites here are definitely Yan Can's chinese restaurant, and the Prolific Oven .. then finish that off with an awesome ice cream cup from Coldstone creamery:) If it's your thing to eat al fresco, to sit and soak that cali sunn.. this is the place to be! well decorated for the holidays as well! The stores and restaurants are nothing special - you could easily find them somewhere less crowded. If I lived in the neighborhood and could walk to the plaza, I'd probably give it a better rating. Why didn't they build this sooner!?!?!? Back in the days, there was nothing in this area but the state hospital. But, the thought of having all those stores and restaurants so close is a godsend for those who still live in that part of Santa Clara. Note, the restaurants here SUCK. I have a love/hate relationship with the Rivermark Plaza. So many great places all crammed into one shopping center. But really... What poor planning. There is not nearly enough parking for all of the establishments. The parking lot turns into a madhouse often throughout the day. But there really isn't anything I wish was here that isn't... Grocery shopping - check coffee shop - check Sushi - check Fast food - check Family Friendly restaurant - check Dessert, bakery, ice cream - check Bank - check Lots of variety = easy errand running. For the longest time I've only been making use of the Safeway without being conscious of what else is here. I guess because it's a convenient point to stop at on the way home from work, so I grab the food and go. And you know there's someone's eyeing you as you leave the store with bag in hand for that parking spot of yours. So I took a walk around before grocery shopping. It's a really clean shopping area with mostly chain stores and restaurants. Nothing I would go out of my way coming for, but it serves the many housing complexes well, and there's even a police station here. read more

The stores and restaurants are all very good establishments. You have a Safeway, UPS store, Fantasia Tea, Mcdonalds, Baja Fresh, Red Robin, Cold Stone, Wells Fargo, a dry cleaner, and a Blockbuster to name a few. Now for the thing that brings it down to 2 stars........ P-A-R-K-I-N-G! Or lack thereof. I want to say that the only time parking is a problem is during the weekday lunch period. But, unfortunately, I can't. Even on weekends it's pretty bad. As you can see from the other reviews, it's not just me that's probably deterred from going there because of parking. And if you think that they should just add more parking to accomodate everyone, you're probably right. However, they're building a bunch more condos and hotels right around it, so that's just not going to happen. read more

I have to agree with everyone: Yes, parking is terrible during weekday lunch hours! However, 95% of the time, I end up finding a spot within 5 minutes, so I can't say it's impossible... albeit, usually the spots were "5 minute parking" only-- which was fine with me at those times! What I love the MOST about this place is the cleanliness and the "nice-looking" neighborhood feel (which is why I gave it 5 stars minus 1 star for parking). What's also nice is the accessibility (near the expressway) and the variety. I especially love the that they have both a Fantasia and Safeway! Awesome! Other pluses for me include a Cold Stone's (just found out it existed there!) and the Wells Fargo. I just love this shopping center. By the way, the Santa Clara police seem to always be around to give tickets to those who park in the handicapped spots! It GREATLY PLEASES me to see this, because it always pisses me off when I am wasting time searching for parking and I see a cheater without a placard parking their car in the blue spots! read more

PEOPLE LISTEN UP!!! Ok now that I have your attention let me just agree that parking is extremely terrible here during those peak times when everybody decides to show up at the same time (weekday lunch hour around noon and in the evening when everybody is grocery shopping and heading out to have a bite to eat.) Now, take that away from the equation and what do you have left? Safeway, Jamba Juice, Starbucks, Peets Coffee, Wells Fargo, Cold Stone, Red Robin, Prolific Oven, Baja Fresh, Quiznos...well you get the idea. This place has a little something for everybody, and whether you like it or not it's going to have it's parking issues because it has those places that people like to go to. Again, they may not be high on your list of A+ spots, but they're good enough if you ask me. Four stars for me because it's close to home, has a great Safeway (in my opinion), and who doesn't like Cold Stone, Starbucks, Jamba Juice on a hot summer day? read more

I think the best thing about this place is that Safeway is open 24/7. At 1 in the morning, there's plenty of parking. During the day is another story. Nothing worse than no parking and the majority of people looking for parking can't drive and when they do find parking they do a horrible job of that. I love the Rivermark and it's very close to mi casa on Cheeney St., BUT...it does not get the 5th star b/c the parking is insufferable. I cannot dream of stoping by after work to pick up a few things I need for dinner. It is HELL. Really, I get anxiety attacks and I tend to curse like a sailor. I like this little hang out spot... If your planning on stoping in for a bite to eat or grabbing a snack with your besties. Please arrive early it's like crazy on parking jockeying for a space. And traffic can get a bit out of hand. Other then that the place is great, out door seating at most business that are serving food or drinks. I spend a lot of time at Rivermark plaza. Yes, it's one of those typical outdoor stucco commercial places, but there are some nice establishments there, and it looks nicer than most comparable places. The Safeway is one of the nicest ones I've been to, and the Prolific Oven is a great place for breakfast on the weekends. They need to do something about the parking situation, because it's always difficult to find a place to park. And people there don't know how to park anyway. There are always huge cars wedged into compact spaces, making it impossible to park next to them. And folks, learn how to navigate a rotary!! read more

Kind of hilarious that every single review is a rant about parking. If you take that out of the equation, as is the case for those of us who live in the neighborhood, Rivermark Plaza is actually quite convenient. I'm not sure how I rate it this high given that the restaurants are all craptacular,. I'm actually taking off a star for that, since they're all awful suburban chains with unhealthy food and probably very questionable hygeine standards. They're clearly banking on the low dining standards of people who live here. Everyone's complaining about parking but nobody notices that none of the restaurants are worth braving the awful parking situation for? But it's nice to have the giant Safeway (which also functions as a de facto Walgreen's/CVS) as well as Peet's, Jamba Juice, and Wells Fargo at arm's length. And the surroundings are nice, at least compared to other strip malls that contain this kind of retail mix. It feels less like a parking--lot-dominated strip mall and more like a little neighborhood, even if it is a very pre-fab, "artificial" one. read more

I'm a sucker for cute cobblestoned streets; this plaza is lined with them! Makes me feel like Disney princess Belle when she sings her rendezvous song with her town. Would like to gracefully twirl around this plaza. *Ahem...* Aside from my awe and imagination, there isn't much else here except for your standard Safeway, a couple of beauty shops, a random optometrist office, some restaurants, and of course my favorite boba joint, Fantasia. This suburban plaza is teeming with great stuff - a grocery store (Safeway), Bagel/Coffee Shop (Posh Bagel), Sushi, Indian, Boba, Fast Food, Red Robin, and the list goes on. It's an impressive and customer-centric mix of services and restaurants that serves the local area. It's 2 miles of the new Levi Stadium, which is also useful if you needed to pick up any last minute items before a tailgate or anything. Started going here 3 months ago due to the nice combination of Safeway and selection of Restaurants in a nice walkable layout. Unfortunately, 3 restaurants have closed, which added to the other vacant spots that were already there. This is surprising with all the residential locations around it. Found out new owners hiking up rents and driving out business (surprise, surprise). So complex is going down hill and heard predictions more closings will coming. read more

this shopping center has it all! safeway market, several coffee shoppes, casual cafes, family-friendly restaurants, a dentist office, a waxing salon, and even a yoga studio. i'm here most saturdays after running with my run club to eat at prolific oven and parking is never an issue. on occasion, i shop at the safeway since it's convenient to pick up a few items before i head back home to the peninsula. parking can definitely get crowded here, and folks can sometimes cause delays in getting to the shopping center exit, but that is usually to be expected mid-morning on a saturday. if the surface lot fills up, there is a parking structure toward the rear of the center with ample parking. easy access to 101 via montague expressway. read more

Parking is terrible here and I think the employees of the establishments should park in a designated area...not in front of the stores to allow customers the spaces closer to the stores. I can't tell you how many times I've left because I've driven around in circles!! They now have 5 min parking by most of the stores but I've seen people there a lot longer than 5 mins. This plaza is conveniently located near work for me. I enjoy going here to grab Starbucks, Jamba Juice, or do a little grocery shopping at Safeway. I've only ever gone here during lunch hour and I suggest no one else go during this time. It's always packed and parking is very hard to find.
