VERY GOOD HOTEL IN DOWNTOWN CALGARY…read more We recently stayed at Le Germaine Hotel Calgary, a modern hotel in downtown Calgary located across the street from the Calgary Tower and steps away from Stephen Ave Walk and the +15 Skywalk. The 2 Queen room was very spacious - a large modern bathroom, a large walk in closet area (safe and lots of storage) and a large nook that connected our room to a neighboring room. The modern polished wood and glass décor included a tall Noguchi-styled floor lamp and velvet covered chairs and ottomans. Coffee pot, hot water pot, high end glassware and well stocked wet bar. The large bathroom had wall storage, a large walk-in shower with a huge rain shower head and a large teardrop shaped sink that reminded us of an infant bath basin. Daily housekeeping. One big negative - our 12th floor room faced directly into the offices across a narrow space between the office building and the hotel forcing us to keep our wooden blinds closed for privacy. No blackout curtains with window blinds that let in the morning sun. Plus despite being on the 12th floor, we heard early morning police and ambulance sirens but did not hear any train noise from the nearby 7th Ave tracks (some reviewers complained of loud nearby trains). When making reservations, ask for a room on a high floor that is not facing the office building or the train tracks. It might also be fun to have a room facing the Calgary Tower across the street. The hotel has a small lobby area with a bar as well as an attached restaurant.

I'm obsessed with their invigor - mint shampoo and body wash by Skoah (a discontinued line but only available at partnered hotels). They also have free self parking lots underground and above ground surface lots. They are located close by Calgary Tower and are near plenty of restaurants and bars around the downtown area. H mart is only about 2 blocks over if you want Asian groceries. I also just read that they give complimentary bikes rentals on their website, which is amazing! The only con was that you have to reserve pool time and it's a $10 fee per person if you don't show up. It's a small pool and is just under 5 feet. They reserve a seating area for you, which is very nice but made it difficult to plan your day especially having 2 kids under 3yo.

Overall a really convenient and comfortable stay. Would definitely recommend it if you are visiting the area for work or a game.

Clean lobby area, just wish that they had a coffee/water station for guests. They have an attached restaurant for dining and a la carte room service. Parking is valet for $45 CAD a night but you can go and in out as much as you need throughout the day. Paid parking everywhere in downtown. We had an issue with the pull out bed and house keeping took care of it right away and was very apologetic the next day. The housekeeping staff are so nice and friendly. They have a nice pool and fitness area on the 2nd floor with a hot tub and a water slide. TV doesn't have very good selections for watching shows. The price for a night is ok and a little pricey for not much amenities like breakfast and parking.

The building also includes a nice gym, laundry room with a good number of washers and dryers, and even a first-come first-serve "office" room on the first floor which we ended up using for when we needed to take calls. Breakfast was included in the room rate and we really appreciated the quality and the options of what was available (from standard continental breakfast fare to waffle machines, eggs/bacon/sausage/tater totes, to oatmeal and congee). Coffee was not our favorite but the good news is there are plenty of wonderful cafe options outside the hotel. The hotel has both valet parking and self-parking options available. The self-parking option that is affiliated with the hotel is outdoor parking that is located a little distance away from the property. There is a second self-parking option (Indigo Neo) that is underground and part of the property but is not at all affiliated with the hotels. We chose the Indigo Neo option for convenience. Payment was license-plate based and managed online--the hotel staff were really great about emphasizing the need to remember to pay for the parking as Indigo Neo team are strict about ticketing those who don't pay. Service was 5+ stars. All of the team members from the front desk to the chef team and wait staff to the valet were all very kind, courteous and accommodating. The team was extremely proactive when they noticed that our in-room phone line had static and within minutes, maintenance was at our door. And when our trip had to be extended by one extra day due to an unexpected situation, the front desk team (Mercedes) was so patient and helpful in helping us navigate the situation and resolve it. At breakfast, I even heard the head chef agreeing to help a student sports team get breakfast and make it to their game on time by coming in earlier than usual. Amazing kindness by the whole team! Location is great with plenty of places to eat (pro-tip: Noble Pie is a block away and a must-try pizza spot) and shops that are walking distance away. Some blocks are rougher than others but nothing unexpected for a city. Great place for work or play. We look forward to staying here again on our next trip to Calgary!

This year, was our last year as a family to celebrate Mother's Day, and we chose the Carriage House. The decor in the grand ballroom was beautiful the fact they split the two venues to add more availability was good, too. The service for plate takeaway was excellent. However, the food was not. The smoked salmon was very fishy, a little off. The potatoes dry, waffle so hard it darted off my place and the Bennies had a rock hard bottom in two cases. This was despite the fact everything was replenished frequently. The eggs. I've never seen a block of scrambled eggs before, but there it was! And it was as tasteless as it appeared. The two saviours were the lovely orange smoked ham and the crab legs. Dessert would have saved the meal if it tasted as good as it looked. The B52 cheesecakes was sour, the stuffed cream puff dry and tasteless, only the orange pudding saved the dessert. But be prepared, folks, the Carriage House now has security against Dine and Dashers, ominous well dressed young men who look a bit formal, AND an 18% Gratuity on top of the $65.00 per person with no seniors discount. Which is unfortunate because so many families have seniors in their parties these days. Thank you Carriage House for many previous great brunch buffets, sorry to say good bye, we must. 5/2026
