This is located in the quiet, peaceful little town of Confluence. It's very close to amazing biking and hiking trails and kayaking, fishing, and rafting. The house we stayed in (their are several options) had 3 bedrooms with baths. The common rooms are spacious and gorgeously appointed. The decor is very tasteful Arts and Crafts period. The owner, Robin, is a potter, and you can see her pottery throughout and buy it too. The huge kitchen and dining room are available for your use. A full breakfast is provided. There are TVs in each room and the lounge area. It is IMMACULATE. All COVID precautions in place and we felt very safe. It is dog friendly which made a big difference to us. The charge is $20 per night. Our dog loved it Robin and Dan are lovely hosts and did everything to make us feel welcomed and comfortable. Super nice people. There's not a whole lot to do if you're not into nature here. Eating establishments limited although we did have a good meal at Rivers Edge restaurant. The hiking is excellent.

We stayed at the Yough Riverhouse in early November for a long weekend, and could not have been…read morehappier with the accommodations and the surrounding property. The house is huge with a fully equipped kitchen, 3 bathrooms, and the capacity to sleep up to 12 people comfortably, but you could probably sleep 14-15 if you utilize the futon and couch on the first floor. The house has a television with Dish Network and Wi-Fi, so if you don't exactly want to get away from it ALL you can still get away from most of it and be connected to the outside world. There is a hot tub located just outside of the side deck of the house that leads to an outdoor area that has a firepit, seating, and outdoor grill. The house is located within close driving distance to Falling Water and Ohiopyle, and is situated directly on the Youghiogheny River, and you can fish from the property if you have the proper fishing license. There is an awesome cafe called The Lucky Dog cafe within walking distance at the top of the street, which is a bonus if you don't feel like cooking every meal while you are staying at the Yough Riverhouse. We definitely plan to stay here again in the future, but hopefully for a longer period of time because it is truly a little slice of heaven on earth.

Both the PFDs and the shuttle vans could use some updating, however. The canoe itself was fine, as were the oars. The river route was very peaceful, with the exception of some choppy water occasionally, with some rocks we had to maneuver around. We did get stuck in a shallow section, but that was on us for not realizing how shallow it was. The take-out was fine, if a little muddy. Overall a good experience.

What if one in your group dips out of the plans. Then you have either paid for person and you're out that money or you have an extra ticket that you may or may not use. Accept a deposit at the time of reservation but the whole thing is a little ridiculous. Pre-covid, they passed out flyers on the shuttle out to the river. If you returned the flyer when you returned, you'd get a free scoop of ice cream. Our family used to love that. We'd still buy more ice cream but after paddling all afternoon, we'd love to sit and relax with our ice cream before loading everything back up and talk about the neat stuff that we seen. This by no means is their fault. I just hope they keep it in mind and bring it back in some way. I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 for two reasons. The shuttle that we rode in sounded and felt like it could use some maintenance and because the 2 rental kayaks we rented for our kids-both had tons of pieces of styrofoam, pieces of tree, and spiders in them. You don't have to spray them out after every use but least spray out the kayaks before using them each season.

I can't speak for how the dynamic would feel for those just seeking a single room (although this is, I suspect, most of their business), but it was perfect for our needs. It's an older building, recently and seamlessly expanded to accommodate a healthy crowd. It's charming without being cluttered with country knick-knacks. The proprietors are helpful while respecting your privacy. It's comfortable and clean. The wireless internet and satellite television are nice (since cell service is pretty much nil here). And the house is right on the river (as is pretty much everything else in town). Confluence is obviously in the middle of nowhere, but it's a beautiful nowhere. It's in the heart of the Laurel Highlands, a stone's throw from the Yough River, a short walk to decent eating and the Allegheny Passage bike trail, and a short drive from Fallingwater, river rafting, etc. I'll close with an anecdote about small town hospitality. My brother's kids left behind a few items in a downstairs closet. They live more than an hour away in Pittsburgh, so retrieving their toys would have been no easy task. But he called the Parker House, and they knew of someone who was going to be traveling to Pittsburgh the following weekend. The toys were carried along and dropped off. How awesome is that?

The bathrooms were large and the rooms very spacious. It's easy to get to off trail. The Negatives - It shouldn't be called a Bed and Breakfast as there is no breakfast provided, something we didn't know until we arrived. We never met the owners which is a little unusual for a BnB. Also, there is nowhere to eat in this town and we strongly feel the owner should let you know the restrictions before you book. There are two restaurants in town, both which have extremely limited hours after Labor Day so neither were open. That leaves one gas station to get your meal from, and apart from the obvious downside of eating at a gas station it also closes at 7:00 so you're out of luck completely after that. Had we known we'd have no dinner options AND no breakfast we would have ridden the extra 10 miles to Ohiopyle and had a much much better time.
