Tonight I wandered in looking for a finer Cabernet--not super pricey but around the $40-$50 price range. I directed myself to those wines and asked the clerk what made these wines so special. His answers included, "They taste really good," or "The label is enticing." Well, I wasn't completely satisfied with those answers but I decided to purchase the wine anyway when the owner came to me and said, "I don't like your tone, and if you're not going to purchase the wine, I'd like you to leave." She then escorted me to the door. It was clear that they didn't have an experienced wine staff. I have no problem with that. But in the few times that I've purchased wine there, it's clear that this is very true. It's a lovely store with a nice selection, but it clearly lacks knowledge of wine.

But what I really love is the personal service. Last week I was looking for a relatively obscure apertif (bianco vermouth). When they didn't have it in stock, they ordered it that day. A bottle was sitting in my bar two days later.

The bottle dropped out of my hands and broke. This was completely my fault, I'll admit. I went back inside with the broken bottle, explained what happened and asked if there was any way they could extend me a small discount on another bottle. The guy, Who I think is the owner, looked at me, put his hands up and said sorry no can do. I get times are tough but it goes both ways. I shop here instead of saving money at a wholesaler. I am a regular customer here on purpose, to support them. I know he didn't recognize me with my mask but it shouldn't make a difference. A 10% discount would have cost him $3. It's the principle of it all and now I will be going elsewhere from now on.

Owner Graeme and his colleague Terry are both extremely knowledgeable about all types of wine vintages from across the globe, as well as spirits. They offer top-notch advice on wine and liquor selections for customers based on each customer's need and taste. They have buyers from all over the planet, offer tastings, and their product offerings are very fairly priced.

I've only purchased pails of juice from them to make wine and have done this for 3 years now. I'm glad I found them because I was tired of the chaos scene at my usual place in Clifton. Prospero let's you pre-order your juice and schedule a pickup time. Very convenient and no stress about wondering what grapes or juice they'll have in stock. They take cash or check. Any credit card use will incur a fee. One person who answers the phone definitely has a bit of a tone, but the girls at the register/pickup area have always been friendly. The guys who being out my juice and load into the vehicle have also always been nice. They do sell more than juice and grapes as the guy in front of my just bought two big bags of walnuts. You can also do tastings or purchase their other lines of products. The minimally 9 reviews that exist on Yelp at the time of this review are carefully representative of the volume of customers that have. Despite a relatively low rating, maybe give them a chance.

Following year I purchased 8 crates due to price increase. To my dismay I must have had almost one crate worth of dry grape clusters useless for wine making. I've tried multiple times to contact prospero, let my name and contact info multiple time with no return call. If you say I should have over looked my crates before I purchased you may be right but there system prevents you from doing so until you unload them yourself. The have an order picker who fills the your cart and loads it into your vehicle. Obviously putting the better crates on top. Also as an FYI they don't refrigerate there grapes, they sit on the loading dock until sold. Go to Corrado's in Clifton instead!
