Not that we're fed up with our local wine and liquor because we actually love them- but when we travel north (ok...Peekskill is only about a 20 minute drive from us...but it's still north!), we like to discover new Wine Shops. Right in between West & Hudson Aves., Dylan's Wine Cellar was a great match. It certainly looks the part with its relaxed vibe and nifty local wine selections at cool retail prices. Plus the two main aisles are spaced nicely and not too cramped. Adjacent room on the right has a few other items and held for Tastings also- not sure how often they host them. Hubs and I like our wines- but since I'm pausing for a while, he enjoys them for me. We're not wine connoisseurs- but he picked out a couple of interesting Reds to fill up the rack. Dylan's actually a cool spot with a seriously good selection and something for every taste and every budget. And regardless of whether you're looking for a flawless, hard-to-find label, or an every-day, budget-priced wine, swing by Dylan's laid back space- besides...my husband was pleased with his selections. read more

I had ordered a birthday wine for my friends 30th Birthday, and Steven the owner has been very accommodating w. helping me complete my surprise. I live in Poughkeepsie, and due to COVID-19 and social distancing ordered the Cupcake Moscato wine for the occasion and was able to do so ONLINE for CURBSIDE pick up! Talk about convenience. This place is an excellent neighborhood gem! Every wine I bought from them comes from the recommendation of Steven and the staff and every wine has been outstanding - from a Pinot Grigio to a Red Zinfandel (who'd have thought I'd like a Zinfandel?) to a Brunello, they did not disappoint. The prices are very reasonable and if Steven doesn't have a wine you want, he will do everything in his power to get it for you. The selection is carefully curated and changes frequently. I love the spotlight on local wines and liquors. Parking is a bit challenging, but you can usually find a spot or two in the neighboring train lot - haven't gotten a ticket yet. Wear comfortable shoes to walk in as the sidewalk leveling is not for the faint of heart. I hope they stay open for a long, long time. read more

New wine store right near the train station in the Standard House building. They have done a lovely job with the space, have a great selection of wines (several Cotes du Rhone, one of my personal favorites) and the owners seem really down to earth and helpful. p.s. Stopped here after we checked into our hotel. Needed a quick bottle of Champagne for mimosas in the morning. Selection was great!! I stumbled upon Catskill Distilling company a few years ago and haven't been able to find it anywhere on long island....they had it!!! Even better when we checked out we saw they were having a bourbon tasting!! $5 to taste awesome bourbons, whiskeys, tequilas and gins! How can you beat that!!! I've lived in Pittsburgh, Nashville, Orlando, and now NY. Buying wine at Dylan's wine store is fun and comfortable for me. I sometimes get nervous about my knowledge of wine and what it goes with, but Steve is so knowledgeable about his inventory and has an ability to convey that to the customer in a way that does not belittle them in the experience that I enjoy coming to his store. And this is not just to get the best wine in the area, but to get the best wine for my personal experience. This is a great store. They have a great selection of the basics, but also a really good selection of small batch and local spirits. I told them about Chinaco Tequila and Kings County bourbon, which are awesome and hard to find. They ordered it for me and now keep it in stock. Prices are reasonable. read more

Lovely wine and spirits spot right near the Peekskill waterfront, in one of the most iconic buildings in town. So it has a lot going for it before you even walk in the door. And once you do (walk in) it's even better. Dylan is always very accommodating and knowledgable. He has an amazing selection of wine. And a very awesome selection of whiskey and gins. Usually has some decent discounts on various bottles too. Really like this place. Without a doubt one of the best wine and liquor spots in Peekskill. I love shopping here. The beautiful Standard House is an excellent backdrop for the classy design, terrific inventory of unique wines and a well versed owner. I drove totally out of my way and passed many other wine shops to support and see this shop for the first time. I had a wonderful experience. The guy asked me one time if I needed help then let me roam freely until I made my selection. He didn't follow me around trying to sell me something which I appreciated. Went there for searching for a particular Gin (Greenhook Ginsmiths) and he was very helpful. He knew I was there for that particular item, so he made the process very quick (didn't try to sell me other things), just in and out. It's tucked away in a cool, old building near the Peekskill train station, adjacent to the beautiful Hudson, and offers a great range of reasonably-priced wines from a variety of regions. Most importantly, the owner is friendly, knows his wines, and takes the time to listen to customers' interests, questions, and price point, and doesn't try to oversell. Simply awesome place. Great customer service and super friendly staff. I'm a beer drinker by design and I find myself visiting often to ask questions about different wines from different regions and the different types of wines, etc. I recommend this place to anyone, if just to stop in and see the selection. Go there now -- support local young entrepreneurs. Located near the Peekskill train station, this is a wonderful addition to the oenophile and everyday wine culture of upper Westchester. Well designed and attractive space, helpful staff with the owner often on the premises, and a open friendly sense of exploring wine for yourself. The selection is personal and inspired. A good range of California -- particularly pinot noir -- made in a variety of styles, some really good and well priced Italians, Australian Semillon -- a grape that is the chardonnay of Down Under. In short, smart and genial. Most important however is the price. Dylan's is competitive in price and selection with the Best Cellars chain in NYC and Wash D.C. with better service and selection. A few more French whites is the only cavil I have. Can't be beat! read more

Be careful if you order online from them. I ordered a certain vintage wine and they sent me a different year. The owner's response was that I "clicked" on the box that said I would accept a different year. The box is already highlighted and easy to miss. He said he would take the wine back if I paid the shipping. This is a BAIT AND SWITCH TACTIC. Why advertise something that you DO NOT HAVE? NOT FAIR. read more

Not only are the owners young, friendly and welcoming, they care about their community and often host/participate in wine tastings to donate to different causes and charities, you don't see that from a small business that's been opened for only 6 months!! Went in for the first time yesterday, and met Stephen, the owner. I had called the store once before as well, and also spoke with Stephen. It's great to do business with a local proprietor. I found Stephen extremely knowledgeable and friendly. He answered all of our questions, and made some recommendations. I appreciated that he didn't try to sell me on the most expensive bottles, listened to what we liked and made suggestions, and knew about every bottle in his store. I also found his prices to be extremely reasonable. Dylan's shattered my preconceived notion about a boutique/upscale store being higher priced. In fact, I found a bottle of local bourbon at Dylan's for about 30% less than I have seen it in stores that are not nearly as nice. My wife and I walked out and both agreed that we would be hard-pressed to find a reason to go into any other local wine/liquor store in the area. A great find! I'm just sorry we didn't find it sooner! I HIGHLY recommend Dylan's. read more
