OMG... where has River Run Dental been my whole life. If you are in search of a new dentist... run and make an appointment. My dentist recently retired... he was really awesome so I was in search of a new dentist just as great. My girlfriend recommended to me awhile back River Run Dental but they didn't have a location on the south side. Over the summer during everything COVID there was a bunch of construction going on in the Winterfield area... and unbeknownst to me I saw the sign for River Run Dental. I had to confirm with my girlfriend to see if it was the same one she raved about and it was. First off all the forms that I had to prefill were online which made the process super easy as a new patient. There was some minor issue with the day before forms they sent out but they acknowledged it when I walked in the office and apologized... but those forms were super quick to complete. In addition to the forms I was given a code I could scan with my phone with additional perks River Run offer all free of charge and part of the service. As I said where have they been all my life. This list was extensive. In the waiting room they had drinks and snacks galore available... though this is just me I always like to make sure my teeth are as clean as I could get them before a dentist appointment... maybe something psychological about that... but the thought of having food on my teeth on top of tartar that the hygienist would clean kind of grosses me out. Regardless, they have snacks and drinks for you if you so desire. This list also includes snacks... blanket, pillow, eye mask to name a few. I think the nitrous oxide was the only thing that had an extra cost everything else comes with your dental visit... which if they take your insurance it's covered. Kaitlyn was my hygienist... super nice asked if I wanted anything and I was fine. There was an issue with the X-ray machine so I had the protector over me for a little which kept me warm and she offered to remove it as they were fixing it and I was like nah it's keeping me warm. After she ended up getting me the plush blanket on the amenities list to keep me warm. It was awesome. On top of that the dentist chair you sit in is actually a massage chair with heat functionality... one word... AMAZING!!!! It was like I was at a spa. I saw Dr. Fields, and she was awesome and gave me some great insight to my teeth. They also gifted me a River Run travel mug as a new customer. Honestly... I would recommend River Run Dental to all... run and make an appointment today!!!

This was hands down the best medical experience I've ever had, let alone dental experience. I didn't even think I had dental insurance and the staff made extra effort to look up any possibility of it before offering very reasonable plan options for the space. They go out of their way to make you comfortable and are extremely friendly, offering essential oils, blankets, heating pads and other items during your visit. We walked away with snacks, coffee mugs and a gift card- more than I paid for the visit! It was an excellent experience and can't believe I'm saying I can't wait for my next dental appointment

Admittedly somewhat hesitant, I chose a local only. Dr. Woodard made the entire procedure pain free and was kind, communicative and thoroughly professional at all times, as was the assistant. Being relatively new to the area, I 'tried' two other dental practices before going to Commonwealth Dentistry. I will not need to look any further. The entire staff are the ' best of the best' and I can't say enough about the quality of care with Dr. McKenzie Woodard! Thank you!

From my initial email inquiring on service I was able to get in for a new patient appointment and cleaning. My appointment went great. The staff was all phenomenal and polite, and the actual dental work was exceptional. I felt it was very thorough and left feeling confident that my smile is being taken care of. I was also able to get in next day to get molds for a much needed new retainer, as the one I had was falling apart in my mouth. Everything went great and super quick. I was in and out. Even with my top set giving us trouble, the staff hung on and never lost patience. Wonderful. If you are in the market for a new dentist, look no further. Commonwealth Dentistry is the best!

As someone in-between dental insurance, paying less than $50 (with an extra discount) for a full cleaning, x-rays, and full exam was seriously awesome. I walked in about ten minutes prior to my appointment, handed over the forms I printed in advance from their website, and had a seat. HGTV was on the flat screen, but I didn't watch much because they almost immediately called me back. Bottles of water are in the waiting area as well. My hygienist Emily was super super sweet and cheerful. She made me feel right at home and even asked what I wanted to watch on tv...because, yes, they have tvs at every patient station!! It's set up with subtitles so it's basically right in your face during the cleaning. Such a cool distraction! I watched the Today show. X-rays were easy too. They did both the biters and the pano as part of the Groupon. Didn't take long at all...and painless! The cleaning was thorough and she even checked for gum inflammation. I never experienced that before. But it was good to know that both my teeth and my gums were in perfect condition! Dr. Murry popped in last to do the exam. She was also detail oriented and easy to talk to. Overall this visit was totally fantastic (and free of pain)....and if I'm still living in the area in April, I can assure you I will be back!

So I looked him (Dr Simon) up and followed him to VCAD. VCAD has gained my trust, I only have good things to say. The dental hygienists have never been rough or given me pain. They offer local or gas anesthesia if you have very sensitive teeth. On my visit yeterday, Aislin did a wonderful job with my cleaning and explaining the status of my teeth. Need more, flossin...of course... Dr Bilajl (new) did my exam and NO CAVITIES!..She was great also! Since I don't have dental insurance, I pay out pocket. I thought $150 was reasonable for clean, x-rays and exam. The office is tucked in a back corner in a commercial plaza. Plenty of parking. If you are looking for a dentist in the Midlothian, Chesterfield, Richmond area, give the stellar staff at VCAD a shot.

Avoid This Dental Office at All Costs…read more I'm writing this to warn others before they go through the nightmare I experienced. I trusted this practice because my daughter recommended it, and I regret not doing my own research. From the start, there were red flags, but I pushed forward anyway because their billing department was surprisingly efficient and had everything pre-approved. The dentist, Dr. Alexander, also had much more availability than others, which should've been a major warning sign in itself. Unfortunately, this turned out to be one of the worst decisions of my life. Dr. Alexander Simon, (or vice versa he has 2 first names) without a doubt, the most careless, heavy-handed, and clumsy dentist I have ever encountered. Despite having a good support staff, it's clear he's a micromanager who insists on doing everything himself -- even routine cleanings, which were the roughest and most uncomfortable I've ever experienced. He overbooks appointments, rushing back and forth between patients with little care or focus. I learned later that this is because when he's not here, he practices dentistry in India, squeezing in as many appointments as possible before leaving. During my implant process, I felt more like a test subject than a patient. He was abrasive and dismissive throughout the procedure, even laughing while I gagged and choked on water he flooded my mouth with. I was in visible discomfort, and rather than showing concern, he found it amusing. He repeatedly pressed metal tools against my lips with no delicacy or consideration. Once the anesthesia wore off, I was in excruciating pain that lasted far longer than normal. I later discovered that he had gashed my gumline, making it extremely painful to eat or even drink water. When I brought this up to him, he laughed again--like my pain was some sort of joke. I even asked if he'd like me to try it on him so he could understand how it felt. Despite the trauma, I continued with the implant procedure because I had already paid and assumed it was too late to change providers. About a year later, the implant started coming loose and causing severe pain. I didn't want to go back, but most dentists wouldn't see another doctor's implant patient, so I felt stuck. When I returned, Dr. Alexander Simon refused to take any responsibility. He blamed my pain on teeth grinding--something no other provider has ever diagnosed me with. I reminded him that he had gashed my gums previously and insisted he shouldn't bill my insurance again for a problem he likely caused. He casually offered to "work something out," as if that could undo the damage he'd already done. I didn't care if he offered to fix it for free--I wouldn't trust him with my mouth ever again. What's worse is that I later filed a complaint with the dental licensing board, only to find that someone else had experienced *the exact same issue*--a gashed gumline caused by this same man. It's unbelievable and infuriating. Now, because of Dr. Alexander's negligence, I need gum grafts and a completely new implant. My insurance won't cover it because they already paid once. Meanwhile, he had the audacity to bill my insurance again just for seeing me--even after everything. I'm furious, heartbroken, and honestly traumatized. I truly hope this man loses his license. No one deserves to experience this kind of incompetence and disregard for patient welfare. Please don't make the same mistake I did. Do your own research, listen to your instincts, and stay far away from this practice.

I've lived in the Richmond area for over 40 years and found their business practices concerning. My 19-year-old son, 17-year-old daughter, and I had appointments last week. After being informed that our new patient visits would total $577 for the same services (since we are self-pay), I agreed to proceed. While I understand my son is an adult, I made it clear that I would be paying for everything. I grew concerned when my dentist suggested pulling a back tooth due to a gap that might cause bacteria issues, despite no current problems plus making recommendation to see their periodontist and pushing a possible the idea of an implant for the tooth; as well as, selling them on their orthodontist after I mentioned that I had seen the orthodontist the day before...which they said they never got x-rays for and it didn't matter because theirs would be different. Additionally, we were told afterward that my daughter's visit would cost $60 more due to extra X-rays, which we were not informed about in advance. It's comparable to a mechanic doing extra work without getting your approval first. I decided to go along with it, appreciating the new patient discount. They then informed us my son would need a deep cleaning instead of a regular one and scheduled it for this week, again without giving any pricing information. When he asked if there would be extra costs, they implied there shouldn't be. Later, we found out this service would cost over $200. This was surprising since we were told otherwise, and they knew I was responsible for the payments. When I asked why we didn't receive a discount for my son's previous visit since he didn't get a cleaning the first time, they said his services were different. How? When the whole purpose of the visit was for a check up and cleaning. After speaking with the office manager, Lauren, I felt unheard and unacknowledged as a customer. She did not apologize or address my concerns, only defending their position. As a business coach and consultant, I've rarely encountered such poor customer service communication outside of the restaurant industry. We ultimately decided not to proceed with the additional service. Virginia Family Dentistry's communication with patients is lacking at best and unethical at worst. They lost out on over $1,500 of upcoming services we would have needed and the lifetime value of a customer. Choose carefully! They will not be getting any recommendations from me. It's noteworthy that they've disabled reviews on Facebook, which might explain the abundance of positive reviews here. I prefer practices that prioritize people over profits and are not influenced by private equity.
