On 5/8/26 I went for a consultation for an infected tooth. The advise was to have an extraction and reconstruction which was expensive so I opted for just the extraction. An appointment was made for an Surgeon and I had the most painful dental experience ever. It took so long I regretted having it done. I was not offered any way to wash my mouth out and No stitching was done to close the area and I drove home blood clotting in my mouth and on my clothing. I will never go there again and I don't recommend you do either unless you plan to pay for expensive painful service. read more

Settle in for a long and frustrating read. I have never had a worse experience with healthcare "professionals" in my life. I went in for a routine cleaning. They said I needed a crown. They ran my insurance and gave me a breakdown: I would owe about $500 after coverage. I signed the document and agreed. Then the crown turned into a root canal, handled at another location. They ran insurance again--this time I'd owe $180 more. Again, I agreed. Back at the original office to finish the crown, I went through five appointments. Only after treatment was finished did they tell me there had been an error entering my insurance information. As a result, insurance would cover none of the $3,200 total. Five painful appointments. Two locations. It took them weeks to notice the error. They admitted it was completely their fault... and still told me I had to pay in full. No accountability. When I spoke to the office administrator, she had already printed out scanned consent forms--clearly ready to deflect. She repeatedly said, "It's the patient's responsibility to understand the details of their coverage," as if it were my fault for trusting their staff. The idea that patients should be responsible for catching their mistakes is insane. Imagine discovering your bill is six times higher than you agreed to. This is clearly unethical--but sadly, legal. Treatment was done, and I had no way out. They had me exactly where they wanted me. In any other industry, this would border on criminal. But there's no law protecting patients from negligent dentists and clueless office staff. We argued for two weeks. Eventually, they agreed to cover half the balance--leaving me to pay $1,900 total (including the $800 I'd already given them). I just came in for a cleaning. Now I'm out five painful days off work and $2,000--with a root canal on a tooth that never hurt before. Other problems: The dentist was terrible at numbing. I had to stop her multiple times due to pain. The cleaning took forever. Their handheld x-ray machine malfunctioned--they fired dozens of x-rays at me trying to get it to work. Not sure that's safe. The hygienist's Dremel tool exploded while adjusting my night guard. Debris flew everywhere. No one was hurt--but it was a fitting end to my time at River Run. Avoid this place. They'll hurt your mouth and your wallet. But hey, at least they offered me a blanket. read more

OMG... where has River Run Dental been my whole life. If you are in search of a new dentist... run and make an appointment. My dentist recently retired... he was really awesome so I was in search of a new dentist just as great. My girlfriend recommended to me awhile back River Run Dental but they didn't have a location on the south side. Over the summer during everything COVID there was a bunch of construction going on in the Winterfield area... and unbeknownst to me I saw the sign for River Run Dental. I had to confirm with my girlfriend to see if it was the same one she raved about and it was. First off all the forms that I had to prefill were online which made the process super easy as a new patient. There was some minor issue with the day before forms they sent out but they acknowledged it when I walked in the office and apologized... but those forms were super quick to complete. In addition to the forms I was given a code I could scan with my phone with additional perks River Run offer all free of charge and part of the service. As I said where have they been all my life. This list was extensive. In the waiting room they had drinks and snacks galore available... though this is just me I always like to make sure my teeth are as clean as I could get them before a dentist appointment... maybe something psychological about that... but the thought of having food on my teeth on top of tartar that the hygienist would clean kind of grosses me out. Regardless, they have snacks and drinks for you if you so desire. This list also includes snacks... blanket, pillow, eye mask to name a few. I think the nitrous oxide was the only thing that had an extra cost everything else comes with your dental visit... which if they take your insurance it's covered. Kaitlyn was my hygienist... super nice asked if I wanted anything and I was fine. There was an issue with the X-ray machine so I had the protector over me for a little which kept me warm and she offered to remove it as they were fixing it and I was like nah it's keeping me warm. After she ended up getting me the plush blanket on the amenities list to keep me warm. It was awesome. On top of that the dentist chair you sit in is actually a massage chair with heat functionality... one word... AMAZING!!!! It was like I was at a spa. I saw Dr. Fields, and she was awesome and gave me some great insight to my teeth. They also gifted me a River Run travel mug as a new customer. Honestly... I would recommend River Run Dental to all... run and make an appointment today!!! read more

This was hands down the best medical experience I've ever had, let alone dental experience. I didn't even think I had dental insurance and the staff made extra effort to look up any possibility of it before offering very reasonable plan options for the space. They go out of their way to make you comfortable and are extremely friendly, offering essential oils, blankets, heating pads and other items during your visit. We walked away with snacks, coffee mugs and a gift card- more than I paid for the visit! It was an excellent experience and can't believe I'm saying I can't wait for my next dental appointment read more

Midlothian Location- I cannot complain about the dental care, but trying to get an appointment or reschedule is impossible!! Had to cancel my daughter's appointment in September after she was in a car accident and they were supposed to put her on the cancellation list, just found out they never added her to the list. After they scheduled me more than 6 months out (last appt June 7, then Jan 6), they were closed for weather and the new appointment ended up conflicting with a work meeting. I called to reschedule and was told the next available appointment was not until July. They have obviously taken on too many patients when you cannot reschedule within a month or two. Time to find a new dentist! read more

It's been over a month and River Run has not given me a refund or canceled my Sunbit account with them. No one and I mean no one has returned my phone calls. They wouldn't give me a refund the day I was there for a service I paid for that I ended up not needing. They told me I had to contact Sunbit to cancel and get a refund. I call Sunbit, they told me they couldn't give me a refund or cancel the account, that I need to have River Run cancel/refund. That was July 8th and it's now August 16th. Sunbit has charged me again for a service I never had done and still won't refund me or cancel the account. I'm going in circles with these two companies. I just want my money back and for them to cancel the Sunbit account. I would not recommend this dentist practice at all or their other locations. read more

I have lived in VA 3 years...and this was the FOURTH practice I have been to in that time. My search is over. Quiet, soothing, hip office. Great customer service. Every amenity. Were not pushy in upsells - just matter of fact in treatment options. Very pleased! read more

River Run Dental - Your dental spa menu - General Dentistry Near Me - Midlothian, Virginia

Guys. drop what you're doing and schedule an appointment here. I have extreme anxiety about going to the dentist. I've gone for cleanings maybe 3x in the last 15 years. River Run is a game changer. It's a spa day for you're teeth. For the first time, I walked out of a dental office feeling excited about my teeth, and future treatment plans . Definitely schedule with the Midlothian location, with Dr. Wooten, as he was fantastic. Make sure to get Laura Mundy for the cleaning! She's the best. She literally got all the stains off my teeth, and there were years of stains on them since it's been so long, and I drink red wine. I could gush over this place for pages. I was settled into my chair that had a massager, and was heated, while enjoying all the perks of the complimentary comfort menu. Anything you need to make the experience better! Blankets, neck pillows, warm/cold eye masks you get to keep, essential oils, la croix, Starbucks coffee, snacks, and more. I also opted to have Nitrous Oxide during my fillings, which really helped to calm me. I could seriously keep going, but I have to get back to work, so I'm ending it here. Just take my word for it and go! read more
