My sister and I passed it on the road during a roadtrip last year and made a note to plan time for a visit during our most recent coastal Maine adventures and it was a highlight of the trip for both of us. We're both big foodies and always try to learn about the local food scene and the Maine Tasting Center is intentionally designed to do just that. We participated in their Flavors of Maine 101 tasting class (offered daily at 2pm but make sure to book by 1:45 day of) and it was SO GOOD. We also opted to do the additional drink pairing with the day's tasting board and I would highly recommend. Our wonderful teacher took us through three themed courses that paid homage to the state's native influence, the modern day dairy industry, and of course seafood. Everything on the board was delicious (okay maybe the seaweed salad wasn't my favorite but it was still super interesting to try and learn about). We'll definitely be returning on future trips and I can't wait to try some of their other class options I saw them advertising (especially the cheese class!)

The atmosphere of this wine shop is completely retro and fun. Great old records for sale, vintage clothes rack out back for some thrift shopping, fun and fresh bottles of wine to take home. We sat right at the bar next to the records were playing and the owner switched records frequently and always had something fun playing. The wine here was so much fun - as someone who works in wine sales it's always refreshing to see a bar changing what wines they serve and have something new open every day. They don't have a set wine list, i believe they just choose what they want when they want and display what they are serving by the glass on a shelf behind the bar. I love that idea so you can go often and always be able to try something new. I would have had some snacks along with my wine if we had not just come from lunch but i will definitely be back since this menu always changes with what is fresh. A great spot in this area and i'm excited to go back already.

In Maine we sell alcohol in CVS, Walgreens, Hannaford, Shaws and many other types of establishments, but Mr. Rooper, prior to his passing in 2022, built an empire of Rooper's Beverage stores that is well known for their inventory and bottle redemption services. If you are unable to find what you are looking for, they will try to find it for you. They found me a Jack Daniels Sinatra bottle that is very limited and they called me the second they got their hands on a bottle. Rooper's is a Maine staple and their staff is always friendly and accommodating. Mr. Rooper did a tremendous job building his business and expanding to other locations. I applaud him and his teams for continuing to raise the bar and set the standard for customer service.
