Years ago I owned a tanning salon on Tyler we did pretty well it's called Deb's fantastic we were very carefully who we would educate about the UVA UVB process of safe tanning however the Sun that we get you don't really guard the UVC raise and I think that's the one that causes the skin cancer I've just had a few basil cells we really develop basal cells from the first time we're exposed to any sun at a young age and I think they say dormant I highly recommend this place have a good day peace5 star read more

I was diagnost with Melenoma and came back to have a mole removal with very littel information. When I was asking questions, Dr. Godwin, was short and made a comment about how many questions I had. There was not pre-op appointment to go over the procedure or what that would look like. So...needless to say, I had a lot of anxiety when prepping for the procedure, which was going to be about a 3 inch incision and tissue removal of a significant degree. I had to stop due to the amount of anxiousness and when I was ready he came back and said it was lunch time so I had to go reschedule for the following week. So after getting all the numbing injections and due to time, I left with my husband without the procedure. He was very inpatient with me and seemed to be bothered. Fortunately for me, I reached out to my primary care physician and she sent a referral to Duke in North Carolina. I saw Dr. Lee and his team was excellent in providing all the information and took the time to explain everything!! Successful with the removal and met all my margins. Horrible experience with River Ridge. Will never go back. read more

Dr Joe at New River dermatology in Blacksburg Va. I was there for a whole body check for skin cancers. He was the rudist so called Dr I have ever met. He treated me terrible. He never introduced himself as I had never met him before. I guess they took it upon their self to put me with him. He was hateful, rude and very rough. I asked him to not be rough with me as I had just had major surgery. He didn't a bit more pay any attention to me and a man on the moon! What he got ready for me to lay back I told him I didn't know if I could lay back or had a bad back and had just had surgery. He took his hand and pushed me back on that half so called chair. i was there for a full body check and he wasn't even going to check my back side. I had to call him out on it. He talked to his nurse like a dog. He kept saying yep, that is cancer and yep that is cancer bef he even knew. He didn't even wait for the numbing to kick in. He just started cutting on me to biopsy them. They called me the next week and wanted me back, I told them I never ever wanted to see him again!!! So they ended up putting me with Angie Hurd. She was much nicer. I'm not one to ever leave negative reviews but I was not going to let this one and I don't want anyone else to get treated the way I did!!!! read more

I received laser hair removal here before and it worked with the older aesthetician I received laser hair removal here last week- and there is hair still on my face and under arm. When I spoke to the aesthetician- she was very dismissive and told me I would need to pay for another round. I spent close to $300 totally waste. I've never had a bad experience here with the dermatologist- my entire family has been seen here. The customer service I experienced today was unacceptable. DR. BROWN DISMISSED the CLASSIC SIGNATURE RASH of a super RARE DISEASE called DERMATOMYOSITIS. Decided these were warts and proceeded to freeze 22 spots, resulting in permanent scars. She did not document, did not follow up, did not contact primary care physician . The disease was a mystery for the next nine months, causing massive delay in treatment. Disease is now aggressive, advanced, and has caused complete disability. Early diagnosis is the key for this disease and she blew it. When contacted by phone for kind educational purposes to be aware of this next time, she made excuses and blamed the patient . read more

I made an appointment for an annual skin check at River Ridge Dermatology and agreed to the first available dermatologist, That turned out to be Aleksandra Brown. When Dr. Brown entered the examining room, her first words were to chastise me for "not being ready," meaning that I was not in a hospital gown. I explained that I had declined the offered gown because I was in gym shorts. Dr. Brown did a cursory review of my skin--asking me where I wanted her to look--rather than doing a thorough examination of the moles and skin on my arms, legs, back, torso, and head. In previous dermatology visits elsewhere, my exam was more thorough. I asked if she could take off two moles, one on my neck and the other on the back of my head. She did, quickly and with little pain. Dr. Brown saw me for less than 15 minutes, including the skin examination and what was billed as "surgery" to insurance. The submitted charges were $530 for the 15 minutes, with insurance paying $86.97. The $530 was more than the preferred provider plan allowance by about $200, which left me to pay $266.81 for the quarter hour. read more

I was just refused medical service because I would not sign their terms of service which included a $50 cancellation fee without reference to acts of God and a collection policy without access to arbitration even if the collection agency is harassing me. The business manager who made the decision not to allow me to see the doctor stated that it would not be fair to the other patients if he accepted my annotations. I pointed out they were reasonable requests But he was absolute in his demand that his form be accepted Before I could access the medical service. This practice is becoming a business not a medical practice. read more

I was a long time patient of Dr Johnston. I knew at the time he was a wonderful dermatologist, but have moved away and had to find a new derm. I've had a difficult time finding the right fit where we are, and it has made me appreciate River Ridge that much more. I never waited long to be taken back from the waiting room, never waited long for the doctor to see me. I was never made to feel complicated/needy because of my medical history. What I was to expect was explained to me thoroughly before I left the office.
