There is a keyless entry for guests, so there isn't a curfew. The room was spacious, and our bathroom was huge. We stayed in the Lake Room, and the view was gorgeous. Breakfast was absolutely delicious. Deb was very accommodating to our dietary needs. She and her husband were very kind. They made themselves available for questions, etc. They also kept their distance, so we didn't feel like someone was hovering over us, which was very nice. We can't wait to go back in the spring/early fall!

The owners purchased it in 2009, and spent six years lovingly restoring the building literally from the ground up. They did not miss any detail. The restoration is meticulous, and at the same time they modernized the experience for their guests. It's hard to be excited about bathrooms, until you go into this place. Our bathroom was a work of nostalgic art. You just want to stay there all day. Among the other amenities in the house include a bistro where are you can have coffee, water, and snacks all day. The furnishings in the house are exquisitely period and in exceptional taste. The landscaping outside the house is perfectly suited to the age and style of the house, and is expertly maintained. To put it mildly, the place is gorgeous. Inside and out. And then, our hosts Debi and Greg. It takes a certain personality to run a bed and breakfast, and these folks have it all. Customer satisfaction is top of mind, and they attend to every need and every detail. They were gracious and accommodating dietary restrictions. And, to top it off, we had a great personal experience sharing favorite beverages, and we received a personal saxophone concert by Greg. If you are looking for a great place to spend one night or a few days, this is it. Look no further.

Cell service is spotty, especially to the north, so confirm your flight plan is closed at the airport. If you visit, don't forget to go in the airport building and record your flight. I also purchased a 42C T-shirt. They also have hats. Fence gate to airport access was unlocked, but suggest double checking with management. Code was 5321* or 1228 (Unicom). The airport building is within the fence, south of the fuel pumps, between the north and south hangars, not the building outside the fence which Google Earth identifies. Pre-flight contact to Mike Kymes, current airport manager - I suggest calling the City at 231.689.1194 since the airport is irregularly manned. That is also the number to call to confirm snow removal. Mr. Kymes was courteous and very informational about the airport's operations, parking, fuel availability, transportation, and the runaway and ramp area were expertly cleared for easy maneuvering. I also learned the administration for the airport is provided by the City of White Cloud and compliments, complaints.... can be directed to City Manager, Mrs. April Storms, at citymanager@cityofwhitecloud.org.

At the last minute I found this campground and made my reservation over the phone with the owner Don. He was very helpful and booked us site 44 since we requested shade and an electric hookup. The campground is stunning! After a meandering drive in through the woods, the road opens up to the lake itself which is surrounded by campsites of all types and sizes. Check in was a breeze thanks to Sue and we easily found our site for the weekend. 44 has ample shade and a large area where we setup our tents next to a beach. We had a wonderful view of the sunsets every night and really cool-looking fog banks over the water early in the morning. Very relaxing campground. Our favorite part was swimming out at the sandbar and jumping off the floating wooden raft at the center of the lake. The campground is only a short 15 minute drive to nearby Shelby and Hart, MI. Muskegon is only about a half hour south. If you're a disc golfer, Flip City is only 15 minutes away and is one of the best courses in the U.S. we played three rounds this week and had some amazing meals at Big Hart Brewery in Hart, MI and The Brown Bear in Shelby. My friends and I will be staying at this campground every year for our Flip City weekend going forward. It's unique location on the lake, relaxing atmosphere, close proximity to local food and attractions, and the wonderful owners make this a gem in western Michigan.

Heads up: Most of not all roads are dirt, and they can be muddy and puddly after a rain. And none of the sites I saw had paved pads for your RV. It can be a chore to keep the dirt and mud out of your rig, but that's camping. They saw that we were packing up and even though no one was occupying the site, they kept badgering us about leaving. Perhaps a bit more tact when approaching customers would've been appreciated.
