The highlight of the summer was having the opportunity to learn from and dance with Lauren Anderson! I ended up taking dance at UH for the fall semester, so unfortunately I have not been back to dance here. The owner and founder, Sherese Campbell, taught the ballet class we were in. She's inspiring and really makes you want to dance better. The students are awesome, some of them are City Dance Company dancers and they are just as inspiring. Our summer intensive class ranged from teenagers to adults in their 30's-40's. The summer intensive classes are cool because you do (for example) ballet one week and hip-hop another week (for the first 1.5 hours) and then like yoga or tap for the second 1.5 hours. Intensive classes are usually from 9 AM - 3 PM, but I only went from 9 AM - noon and it was $150/week vs. $250/week. Currently don't have time/money to take intensive classes again, but would love to go back soon. It's pretty convenient if you live near Rice/ West U. If you are unsure about anything or have reservations, Sherese is always willing to help and encourage you!

The most basic moves were taught for 20 minutes (with little instruction about proper arm technique or head tilt - just the foot steps). And then they taught a Thriller line dance for 20 minutes. I was confused why this was taught in a Ballroom class until they said they planned for their members to perform the line dance at their Halloween party and solicited us to sign up to be a member. The class was only 40 minutes and I only learned the bare basics of Foxtrot.

Ms. Rachel did an incredible job engaging the little ones. They all loved it, my son repeatedly asked me why he had to go "regular school" and couldn't just go to "dance school". Sadly, Rachel's availability changed and so we weren't able to extend the class beyond a month, but we'll definitely look into coming back again!

We signed up for a package of 5 classes to prepare for our first dance at our wedding after hearing about their company at a wedding expo. Paul was our instructor and he was so helpful in creating a choreographed routine for our song and preparing us for the big day. He recommended classes 1-2x per week leading up to our wedding which was a good schedule. With lots of practice in between lessons we were able to keep up with the learning and it was a big success! Paul was really great in assessing our dance capabilities (as neither of us have a background in dance), and creating a routine that was suited to our level. I appreciated the time he took with each of us to make sure we had our steps down. He was very kind and flexible as were all the staff at the studio. We even stopped by to practice on the hardwood floors when we didn't have a lesson scheduled and they were kind enough to let us play our music overhead on the speakers. This is a great studio for anyone learning a wedding dance or looking for dance lessons in general. When we have some more time we are thinking of going back for Jiving lessons!

Rebecca was very quick at responding to our emails and is really informative in each email she sends you. There is a 5 class wedding package that worked perfectly for us. A few months before the wedding, we weren't sure if we wanted to spend extra money on taking dance lessons for the wedding, but as the date was getting closer, we were feeling the pressure of putting together something, so we decided to check out yelp and came across The Dance Whisperer. We felt the price was reasonable, and I had confidence based on reviews that Rebecca would be able to help us from looking ridiculous during our first dance and sure enough she made us look amazing! Everyone raved about how great we were and even my mom said our first dance was so amazing and my mom RARELY compliments anyone or anything. We scheduled our five sessions after our first class to make sure we could get in the books before the wedding and that was not a problem since Rebecca had perfect times for us in the evenings after work. Rebecca is so personable and even though we have only met her 5 times, we felt very comfortable with her in each class which was kind of frightening in the beginning because we were both inexperienced with dancing, but she started off with basic steps to boost our confidence and gave us a little preview of what to expect for the next class as a bit of homework to practice at home. It really didn't take too long before we could get some basic steps down and tried incorporating some interesting turns into our routine, and she was very patient in making sure both of us had a firm grasp before moving onto the next level. Our wedding dance had some interesting turns, spins, and steps with a big finish incorporated into it. The stress and anxiety of it all leading up to "The Big Day" didn't help, and at one point my hubby took a wrong step, but was able to correct it flawlessly without anyone noticing--all thanks to her! Each appointment is 45 minutes. EXACTLY 45 minutes. If she says be there at 5:30pm, you better not knock on that door at 5:29pm (and steal a minute from the previous couple) or at 5:31pm because you already cut into your time slot. Of course, you can double book. That said, she is very professional and methodical in her guidance, and seems to live and breath the art of dance!
