Black Hills Rentals is a collection of privately owned cabins of various sizes available for rent…read more Unlike many of the cabin rentals in the area, these cabins are spread out over several acres, not all bunched up together - so they are more quiet and secluded. Further unlike other rentals, they are located well off the main highway so road noise is not an issue. The owners are very friendly and gratious - easy to work with for reservations. The cabins are all relatively new, extremely clean and well equipped for any length stay. If you are looking for a truly tranquil and special experience in the Black Hills, it would be hard to go wrong with what these folks have to offer. Check out the selection of cabins on their website! I stayed at the Renegade cabin (about 4 miles west of Custer) and enjoyed its rustic feel and modern conveniences. It would be great for a couple or a young family of 3-4, but for larger parties I'd suggest some of their other properties. The kitchen is well equipped, a combination VCR/DVD player is available for entertainment, as is a small stereo with AUX and USB inputs for your CDs, iPod, etc. I was a bit concerned that this cabin was not shaded but I was amazed at how the logs insulate the inside. Even when the temps outside got up to 90 during the day, it remained comfortable inside, with ceiling fans to help keep the air moving around. It was the perfect Black Hills escape for me and I highly recommend them!

Most are full sized, year round homes and we have some smaller fully equipped cabins for smaller families. Each home or cabin has it's own lot that range from almost one to six acres! At first glance we thought we had made a mistake as we turned into the driveway of a tan pole shed looking building but upon driving to the back---WOW--- It was AMAZING! Newly remodeled and super clean this cabin contained everything from kitchen necessities to fluffy towels and a tiled walk in shower, comfortable beds, a grill to make dinner on and wonderful indoor/outdoor furniture to relax on. They also had outdoor games to play! Dining in after a small purchase at the local grocery store meant a very affordable way to consume healthy, delicious home cooked meals without feeling rushed along by a crowd. We loved this stay so much we decided to book an additional night. It was the most stress free portion of our trip. We saw deer every morning winding down the hilltop and as we returned from a long day of being elbow to elbow with people, it was a welcome & relaxing place to land. Hilltop Cabin was a quiet, modern lodge, with a spin of peaceful reflection at the end of a long day. We will definitely go back but this time, we may not leave this peaceful Hilltop cabin! Thank you Jerry at Deadwood Connections for your helpful guidance, great communication and for making our vacation such a hit! Pete & Tammy K. WI

We recently returned from our vacation in the Black Hills and stayed at Alta Vista (a Deadwood…read moreConnections property). The place was great, with more than enough room for our group of 8 (plus a baby). Large deck with hot-tub and propane grilled was used most mornings and many evenings. (though we didn't use the hot-tub, just enjoyed the deck). Full kitchen with most items you will need for cooking, etc. It's close to Spearfish Canyon (one of my favorite locations in the Hills) as well as Deadwood and Lead (gotta visit Sanford Underground Lab-surprisingly interesting). It's a little longer drive to many of the more popular areas (Mt. Rushmore, Custer State Park, etc.) but the scenic drive makes it worth it. Great communications from Deadwood team. When I come back, I'll use them again.

HEAVEN. Cabin Lovers, you don't need to search any further for the most amazing cabin experience…read more There is no "LOBBY" so please call the owners to arrange reservations and entry if you find yourself nearby or if you are planning your trip. The 5 acre property is Stunningly Beautiful, Peaceful and Secluded while being just minutes away from the Crazy Horse Memorial, Mt Rushmore and the Town of Custer. The cabins are CLEAN and sturdy, built in 1933 and the fascinating story of who built them with pictures and history adorn the walls of both cabins. There are two cabins; the larger one, "Skyview" has 5 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms and sleeps 13 (or more if sofa bed or cribs are used), the smaller one "Pinecrest" has 3 bedrooms and 1 bath, sleeping 7 (not including sofa bed or cribs). Either one would be wonderful for a Romantic Getaway for 2 or for a Family or large group. Both have FULLY stocked kitchens (the large cabin has complete service for 20)! In each cabin you will find gorgeous hand-hewn large wood beam log construction, a wood-burning fireplace, comfortable beds & furniture, working antique radios, benches and tables made by the builder of the cabins, clothes Washer/Dryer, extra blankets and pillows, lots of towels, authentic western art and decor and FREE WIFI. Outside, both cabins have their own quality gas grills and wood-burning fire pits. The owners provide stacks and stacks of aged, split firewood and only ask for a donation if you use some. There is an expansive lawn of the softest prairie grass my bare feet ever felt. The land is geographically very interesting with a cluster of Ponderosa Pines atop a sudden, jutting section of slate and massive boulders. The sound of the wind through the pines, the Aspen tree grove and the waving prairie grass completes the perfect picture of total happiness that this property afforded my mother and I on our vacation in June 2017 while my boys were at the Medicine Mountain Boy Scout Camp nearby. We plan to return at every opportunity and are looking forward to celebrating my Mom's 80th birthday there in 3 years with the entire family. The owners, Teresa and Vic are very kind, wonderful people and I could tell by the details and decorating and care that these cabins are LOVED. Do NOT let an opportunity to stay here pass you by! I am nearly 50 and have been a cabin/cottage person all of my life when I travel and I've traveled many states extensively including my home state of Colorado and I have never found anywhere that will ever hold a candle to Camp Custer Log Cabins!!!

Just returned from a wonderful trip where we spent several days at Pine Crest at Camp Custer Log…read moreCabins. The location is great, a few minutes away from Crazy Horse, central location to all of the attractions in the Black Hills. The cabin is cozy, has all of the amenities you could need for a great stay. No tv, no problem, we didn't miss it at all. The gal who owns the place is great, she made us feel very welcome and was available if we needed her for anything, which we didn't but it was nice that she was willing. Why not 5 stars? Little bitty things that could use some attention throughout the cabin, such as the shower. The shower is clean, roomy, there's a nice tub if you have kids that want a bath, but, the lever that you pull up to make the water come out of the shower head has a problem where it pushes itself down and then the water is coming out of the main tub faucet instead of the shower head. And there's sort of a problem with flies in the cabin. Could be seasonal, I don't know, but it was hard to keep up with fly control such as swatting them or even sucking them up in the vacum to get rid of them. The last thing we would say is a minor issue is the very bright light in the yard. It tends to take away from the star gazing and general feeling of being out in the middle of nowhere. All in all, we would highly recommend the cabin to anyone looking for an accomodation in Custer and we would most definitely stay there again ourselves if the opportunity presented itself.

He claimed to have allergies, and when we attempted to explain the applicable ADA laws, he stated that he was aware of them but did not care. His response to our concerns was highly unprofessional and demeaning. Disturbingly, he went so far as to publicly speak negatively about my family and even shared one of their addresses online. Fortunately, we were able to find another hotel last minute that welcomed us without issue. This experience was not only unprofessional but also discriminatory towards veterans with disabilities.
