Next day got a text room is ready. Immediately told them dates were wrong and we had to find someplace else to stay. She acknowledged the receipt of text. I thought it was resolved the next day I get a charge for both nights. At very least we should get the second night since they knew over 24 hours that we're not coming. The other night because we were there- we were trying to fulfill reservation we made. Joe was rude. He initially said right dates the took it back when I was getting upset. Poor communication, rude and property needs updating and cleaning. Don't stay there!

We were there in the off season, so it was pretty quiet in the hotel. I think there was one other room rented out. No hotel staff, it's run like an Airbnb and you're given the entry code by text. We did not mind this at all, it felt secluded and romantic! The spa rooms were really cool! I LOVED the sand room! I wish we'd known they do massages; I would have booked some for us, but maybe they don't offer those in the off-season. The downtown location is awesome, it's so close to restaurants, bars, and Moccasin Springs. We will absolutely stay here again!!

There were some stains on the mattress box cover, but the sheets we slept on were alright. We got the Two Queen Executive with a Couch. We got there quite late, but they were still very welcoming. They did get our room wrong almost putting us in a much smaller one, but when we told the front desk attendant, she quickly fixed it for us. The key cards for the rooms were the main issue. We had to request them to be changed a few times because they wouldn't open the side doors and the door to our room. The breakfast was good! There was a pretty good selection, replenished often. There weren't many fresh fruits or veggies, but that's understandable. Overall, everything was okay. It's not lavish by any means, so if you're looking for a lavish stay, not the place for you. We were looking for a place to shower, eat, and get some sleep, and this place was great!

I stayed at Stay USA, Hot Springs for three nights the weekend prior to Independence Day. I chose…read moreStay USA because they got decent ratings (4 stars) on Booking.com and there weren't a lot of other choices. I should have looked at the reviews on Yelp (2.5 stars). I think they offer a more accurate assessment. This hotel is average at best. Not terrible, not awesome, but average. It's clear to me by reading previous reviews here and other places that this hotel is suffering from post-COVID lack of staffing. I observed the same person doing multiple jobs. For example, on two days I saw one person running from the kitchen to the front desk, making breakfast and taking care of customers. I think the hotel is suffering because of this. I did check the sheets before bed, they were clean - no issues there. When I worked out on day 1 there was some used towels in a basket and empty water bottles. Every day I walked by, they were exactly where someone left them some time ago. I'm not sure how often that room gets cleaned. There's no coffee in the room, so you have to go to the lobby and hope they made a pot (it was empty more than it was full, even during breakfast). On check-out day I hoped to grab a cup for the road. The pot was full, but the coffee was cold. The facility itself is relatively clean, but it's worn down. The towels and wash clothes were thread bare. In the room, the furniture and fixtures were dated, with stains on the curtains and the furniture. I don't know the history of this property, but I suspect it had it's peak as part of a major chain years ago. Since then, it's been allowed to deteriorate. On a good note, the workout room has two treadmills and a pretty nice stationary bike. They've also got 2 30lb dumbbells and a mix of small, mismatched dumbbells less than 5lbs. The spa area seemed OK, but I didn't partake. Hotels in the Black Hills area can charge a premium price and get away with it because people pay. I didn't think what I paid was a terrible price, but I do expect more for the price I paid. The staff brought the score up. Everyone I interacted with was generally friendly. Would I stay here again? Probably not, unless it was the last place available in town.

It wasn't glowing reviews that brought us here, so much as negative reviews for other options. It was going to be a late arrival & early departure... I had begging burros to see. The desk agent was friendly and check-in was easy. There were no odd smells and the temperature was good. We really just needed a bed for the night & we scored there... NEW BEDS! (Old ones weren't even picked up yet for disposal, so, really, really new!) The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. We grabbed a drinkable cup of coffee (not top notch but tolerable) and yogurt - took an apple with me as there were no bananas. The hubby had his waffle. It wasn't a huge spread but ok for a quick bite if you need something to hold you til you get to somewhere else. Which, btw, the place we were planning to eat was unexpectedly closed, so, glad we had something before hitting the road. It was under $60, not a bank-breaker

Some things have been updated. SERVICE: Front desk took care of all our needs. We skipped the Continental breakfast for something a bit more hearty in town. LOCATION: Convenient on US 18 on the south side of town. One of the top places in Hot Springs to visit, the Mammoth Site, is across the parking lot. A decent Mexican restaurant, Jalapenos, is just down the sidewalk. NET-NET: If I were staying in town a week, I might choose something different, but for a reasonable and affordable place to stay over night, this place fits the bill.

Yes, there is construction going on at the property- which operates during usual Mondo- Friday business hours. There's a total of 35 rooms & I can't remember how many rooms have been remodeled. We absolutely love the overhead shower. Hot water is quick and the pressure is amazing. Beds are super cozy. No cooler pots in the room- bit Springs Coffee has great hours. If need be- there's a Keurig in the laundry mat w/ some vending machines. You can even get a roll of quarters charged to your room. Hot Springs is such a nice pace away from city life. You can step out from your room & just watch the river flow by. You can spot deer casually roaming the streets or even the nearby hills. Since no closets are available, it'd be nice to have some coat hooks on the walls.

As of May 2023 the motel is under NEW OWNERSHIP, which is why they are undergoing construction. I stayed in one of their 3 cabins. The cabin is immediately next to the motel, right on the main thoroughfare. I was very surprised at how adorable the cabin looked on first viewing. There is a cute porch complete with Adirondack chairs. There is a screen door to allow for fresh air. Three windows in the front room and a ceiling fan ensure that those sleeping in the front bunk beds stay cool. The little sofa has a chaise lounge. A section out to make the couch turn into a larger bed area. There is also a TV on a high shelf. On the other side of the front room there is a table with two benches. The little kitchenette includes the smallest bar sink, a decent sized miniature refrigerator, microwave, and a few plates. There was a portable heater. There is a bedroom door with the old-fashioned lock system. Inside is a queen bed, bathroom vanity and sink with hair dryer, a small dresser, a nightstand, and a TV on a bracket. There was also an air conditioner! Then I noticed some less than desirable traits. The cabins are not handicap accessible. Each one has steps. The shower had a somewhat permanent leak leading to some small spots of black mold. The1 in drawer in the kitchen requires you to first open the refrigerator door, only then can you open it. The a.c. filter needed to be changed. The unit spit small dust particles out onto the one bed pillow. The bed had a worn side and a side that felt new.

First, the hospitality and management are down to earth. Very friendly and were able to answer all our questions. They have a small store with some basics.. mustard, ketchup, and beer to name a few items. Very friendly. Second, the campsite was very reasonable considering full hookups and pull through. The campsites do share water, meaning one main water faucet that is split between two campsites. The pressure isn't a problem at all. Our problem was that my camper's water was on the front left of the camper. Given the sharing, my original 20 or so foot water hose couldn't reach. Our fault for not having an extension, but we ended up having to park the other way with the camper to hook up the water. Bottom line: we are newbie campers, so just make sure you have an extension. Lesson learned. They do have a cool little lake/pond that offers fishing and swimming as well as boat rentals. Water is clear and they have it sectioned off to prevent swimming too deep. Finally, you are within 5 or so minutes of Cold Brook Reservoir, an Army Corp of Engineers recreation area. They have a super nice beach, and facilities there. You are also within minutes of the cool little town of Hot Springs. If you are looking for a cool and out of the way campground with all the amenities, check this place out!

After calling through the hotels list on yelp, we hit this one that actually had a room, and for an unbelievably reasonable rate, given that all the other hotels in town were full because of the Miss SD Pageant. Our hostess was lovely and walked us through two units so we could decide which one we wanted. She made personally sure we had everything we wanted and that we had people to contact if we needed things later on. She gave us an extremely flexible checkout time, so we were able to sleep in considerably after the crazy night we had at the reception! My partner and I both love kitsch, and he and I were not disappointed here. It was delightfully cozy and cute, and while not modern, it reminds you a little of your grandma's house. The sulfur smell of the hot springs permeates the living spaces, but that's really just the town in general. The beds were a little rough on my back, but I have arthritis issues, so this is pretty typical of hotels in general for me. Would have preferred a queen bed, but wasn't a huge deal at all. We didn't use the shower, so no information on that, but the bathroom itself was very clean like the rest of the space. Would absolutely stay here again. It was adorable and the manager was very kind and flexible.

While not the most modern in interior decor, the unit was cozy, quaint, and comfortable. There was sufficient AC. My only minor complaint was the toilet's flush was a tad weak. Also, behind the cabins is easy access to the river walk, which is a great way to get downtown for lunch or dinner. Overall, great little place!
