This is the back of the shower curtain. Ugh.

We stayed here just one night passing thru the area. This is a $175 a night room. The A/C is a very small window unit and could not cool the room. It continually formed ice and made a terrible racket. As you can see from the photos the room is dated, worn and dirty. I would never stay again or recommend.

Red Rock River Resort has a restaurant called: The Steak House & Bistro. I went there last night and had their buffalo steak. It was one of the best steaks I've had. It was truly tender and well prepared. The asparagus and potatoes accompanying my steak were both prepared and seasoned to perfection. The Indian fry bread with homemade jam was also a treat and not to miss!

New owners of one year, Julie & Joe have done some special rooms lending more to the Hotel's name; Resort Spa. The rooms all quant, the common areas are inviting and all are clean. While there make sure to schedule a massage with Jeanie, how has a wonderful touch. We would definitely return.

Cute hotel in Hot Springs. Great spot to use as a base if you're exploring the Black Hills area and don't want to stay in Keystone.

Moccasin Springs

What a wonderful and relaxing experience. After deciding to head to Hot Springs we found great…read morereviews for Moccasin Springs. I would caution that this facility is not designed for anyone requiring disabled access to the pools - many stairs. We lucked out calling and getting of the last two reservations for a two hour hot springs soak. The reservation includes access to a sauna, lockers and private bathroom / showers. There are options for additional massage services also with reservations. Towel and robe rentals are also available but you can bring your own. We arrived early and enjoyed a light/healthy brunch before our hot spring access. We were warmly welcomed and provided for some simple guidelines for the phone free / adult only spa. Once inside and changed there are access to six pools with varying temperatures. After two hours in the mineral waters you are amazingly relaxed and skin is smooth as silk. I would definitely go out of my way to come back. Passing through the quaint town that showcases the sandstone buildings allows for other food options and a walk through the park. Awesome experience!

Five-Star Bliss at Nature's Bathtub: (aka Moccasin Springs) Don't Listen to the Soapy-Karens!…read more Let me start by saying: if you're looking for a sterile, chlorinated Jacuzzi at a strip mall with fluorescent lights and piped-in Enya, this ain't your spa. But if you want to soak in real, wild, mineral-rich heaven -- where the Earth herself cradles you in a 104°F geothermal hug -- then welcome to paradise at Moccasin Springs in stunning Hot Springs, South Dakota! Now, before we dive (soak?) into this, let's address some of the ridiculous reviews. You know the ones. The "eww, there's stuff in the water" crowd. The ones who expect a hot spring fed directly from the Earth's crust to be as clear as an Evian bottle. Spoiler alert: nature has texture, people! Yes, there are things floating in the water -- because this isn't a hotel fountain -- it's a living, breathing, healing geothermal miracle. The so-called "things" are natural -- think minerals, soft strands of algae, and delicate bits of moss (in fact, some people make incredible wall art with them, so be sure to be on the lookout while you're soaking). You're not bathing in grossness -- you're steeping in ancient Earth magic. You are the tea. Let's talk the incredible ambiance. Picture this: mist curling off the surface like a spell, leaves swaying above you, and the faint smell of the earth's core whispering, "this is legit." Your stress evaporates. Your pores sing. Your city thoughts fall off like dead skin (and, yes, they have exfoliating rocks for that too). The water feels like it's charged with something ancient. You emerge transformed, like a salamander that has rethought its life. Meanwhile, Brenda from L.A. is still on Yelp, angrily typing, "Why is it green???" Because it's real, Brenda. Because nature isn't filtered through a Brita. Moccasin Springs is literal stunning, soul-soaking, mossy magic. Owner Kara Hagen has lovingly created a truly magical slice of heaven on earth. If you want to be reborn in geothermal ecstasy, come here. Just don't forget your towel, your positive zen, and maybe your loudest (whispered) "ahhhhhhh." Five stars all the way! Will soak my existential dread away in this meticulously crafted spa again and again and again! PS -- 1) While at the spa be sure to eat at the Dragonfly Restaurant. The food is literally some of the very best in the area (as is server extraordinaire Molly)! and 2) While in town be sure to check out the amazing wares at Chautauqua Artisan Market on N. River St. - also NOTHING you'd find in a strip mall!!

Motel at hotel cost…read more I paid $90 for a one night stay. Maybe that was because it was during the week of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, but it is not worth $90. Upon arriving, the clerk was friendly, but not very informative. The room was clean and antique, but there was not $90 worth of space. The room was rather small. My big problem with this place is there is hasnt been WiFi for at least 2 months, yet they continue to advertise that they have it. The toilet has low water pressure, yet the sink and shower shoot out like a fire hydrant. The shower is a wannabe spa that has jets ($5) if you're into that, but it steams up too much for my liking. Queen size bed was comfortable for two people. I'd be willing to pay $60 for this place. If you can get it for that, it's a good value, but if not, I'd try elsewhere.

We booked this "historic" hotel based on reviews we read. I HATE being lied to!! This may be…read morehistoric......it is also downright OLD. First, if you are expecting amenity ONE...you are out of luck. Not even so much as facial tissue in the room. My husband and I showered..quickly, because in the course of a 5 minute shower; we both ended up standing in about 8 inches of water. The tub faucet poured out water as fast as the shower head did. The soap provided will NOT lather, so don't even try. We ended up buying some in the store. There is no WiFi, no coffee maker, and the rooms are NOT automatically made up. We were asked if we wanted our room tidied. WHAT??? We had to ask for more bath tissue....oh, and going back to the bathroom, the shower stall was full of mold/mildew and the shower door said it was a steam shower....totally was not (obviously they got the shower doors second hand!), the flooring was curling up in the corners and the bathroom door did not shut. The toilet BARELY flushed! There is no need for this....snake the drains for heavens sake!!!!! At least, once every 10 years!! There was an overall musty smell that would just not go away! Our room overlooked the road that runs through town and we could hear every vehicle as if we were standing on the roadway! don't think you can call them to verify your reservation. They will NOT answer the phone. We tried for a week, both my husband and myself and even sent emails. All went unanswered. We finally called Booking.com. The rep said he would try to call them and wouldn't you know it.....THEY ANSWER THE CALL FOR THEM!! Hot Springs was fun, but if we go back, we won't be staying here again! The location to the surrounding area was OK, although you will have to park across the street in a unattended gravel lot!

Uptown Hair & Nails - Complete crap. Had to go to a salon in rapid to fix it. Altogether cost me $450

I've given this salon a few chances, due to lack of options in hot springs. The first time I ever…read morehad color done it was by Natalie. She did a fantastic job. She is no longer there, so I gave the other stylists a chance. I have been repeatedly let down. Today, something horrible happened me. They turned me down for an emergency color. Fine, they are busy and I can understand that. They all but kicked me out. I was looking for a specific product, and I got a phone call from a salon 60 minutes away. I sat down to take the call. I still intended on purchasing the product. The owner approached me and said this was "awkward." Poor choice of words. It wasn't awkward. It was making her angry because she couldn't just kick me out. She then told me that no matter how long I waited, I wouldn't get in. Guess what, my hair has been ruined TWICE there. I had to chop it off after my last visit. I don't actually want them touching my hair, but due to lack of options I felt I had no choice. They are gossipy, and rude. I wish she would have had the guts to say what she really wanted to say to me. I was prepared to spend money, I just kept getting phone calls, important ones, so I sat down to take them. I was far enough away from them to not hear. Its nobodies business but I was finishing up with my bank for a loan. I understand it is her place of business but to treat me the way she did, was completely unprofessional. Natalie was the only one worth going to, and she is gone. I will never step foot back in that salon, and I will let everyone else know who these people truly are. I could forgive the immature, unprofessional behavior but they can't even do hair! Stay as far away as you can. Your money should go to more deserving people. I wish I could give negative stars. Uptown hair and nails don't even deserve one.

I haven't used all of the services, but when I am there I see repeat clients having perms, colors, pedicures and cuts. This tells me that these repeat clients are happy with the salon's product and performance. I love my operator.
