The restaurant and driving range are now open, and the simulator will be opening on March 12th. The food is fantastic and there are plenty of great options to enjoy after hitting some balls. The view from the range is beautiful and makes the experience even better. It's a fun place to relax, practice your swing, and spend time with friends or family. Walk-ins are welcome. Small dining area with about 8-10 tables. Open from 10a-2p each weekend. Service was fast and friendly. The co-owner and Chef came out to greet us and we made a suggestion to a new menu item twist and he said he thought it was a great idea - whether he does or not, he was open to feedback! He was very friendly and him coming out to personally greet us (and everyone else in the restaurant) was a great, personal touch. We started with the Thai Chili wings that weren't too spicy and the loaded fries that were crispy, hot and yummy! I then tried the Breakfast Egg rolls which were unique and my family trued the strawberry waffles that were half the thickness of a Belgian waffle which she loved! They had BOGO Mimosas and Bloody Marys. The sausage gravy (with no sage the Chef mentioned) my counterpart loved and suggested serving it over tater tots. I played this course spring 2021. It was in really rough shape and not well maintained. People in the pro shop were really rude and not adhering to any of the covid guidelines which was off putting. Very dangerous hills when you move from one hole to another . There is like 3 hills very steep and the road is not dried at all because is covered by tree shades all the time . My wife fell out from the cart and got injured , breaks did not help. Very dangerous read more

Very nice golf course with a challenging layout and friendly staff. Played two others courses in the last two weeks that were ruined by all the rain and heat. Very surprised the course was in such good shape. Very reasonable price for a quality course. 2 of the 18 greens still showed signs of aeration but all others in excellent shape. Even the two still showing signs rolled true. Give credit to the grounds crew for keeping course in such good shape. Just like other courses, cart paths could use some work. One of the reviews I read before I arrived said dangerous paths and wife fell out of cart. All courses in hilly areas have steep hills so hold on to cart when you hit bumps. Most reasonable persons will survive no problem! Add a star to the review if they are able to get some of those smoothed out. Give them a try. Well worth it. read more

My course if you are a target golf kind of guy. It was my first time and I would like to play here again a few times. Since I was not sure where to hit the ball for layup shots it was very difficult. Due to the constant rain this summer they had a fair amount of crabgrass and a lot of bald spots. I give it a 4 star due to this but it is not their fault. read more

Hadn't played the course in close to 20 years and its likely I would wait another 20 years to play it again, if ever. Very overpriced golf course. Since it was "Columbus Day" they raised the greens fee by $21.00 because it was a "holiday". Tee boxes were in horrible shape, most of them bare and devoid of grass. Fairways were very ragged. Greens were okay. Pace of play was very slow, usually waiting on every shot. There are too many other courses in the area that are in far better shape. read more

Don't waste your time. You get what you pay for. I made a tee time for last Saturday the 9th. I was told that I'd receive an email or a phone call. If the course was closed for the day. I received neither of the two. I called at 6:30am on Saturday. Know one answered, I didn't want to be somehow charged green fees. I decided to go anyway, keep in mind, with a friend for his first time ever. The course was closed. I ended wasting 3 hours of MY time and my gas money. I called the next day to say something. I spoke with Sue. She seemed nice and genuine, no complaints. Except for not receiving a phone call again. read more

It is difficult to describe how poor of condition this course is right now. There is more dirt than grass. It is a shame, because this would be a tricky and diabolical course (it is Arthur Hills after all). There is never a flat lie, including some of the tee boxes. The rough was so high that even when you knew where you landed, you were at even odds at whether you could find your ball. The gas carts could barely manage the hills. This course was disappointing in several ways. Let start off by saying that it is very hilly. Very hilly. If you have bad knees, hips, or ankles, this course is not for you. The golf carts strained to go up and down the hills. After I finished playing, my Fitbit said I climbed 121 flights of stairs. A nice workout? Sure, but I'm not there to workout; I'm there to play golf. The course is also smack dab in the middle of a neighborhood. So that means people's backyards are right on the fairways. Right on the fairways. So, if you hook or slice a bit too much there's no playing your ball or even retrieving it. One guy's deck was 50 feet from one of the tee boxes. He's grilling hamburgers while we are trying to tee off across a 150 yard gorge. Kinda awkward. To go along with my previous paragraph, the course is very unforgiving. You have a fairway, a small patch of rough that borders it, then impassable vegetation or someone's back yard. Again, if you are not on the fairway, you are not playing your ball. I had to drop a record number of times here. The course is in very poor shape. We golfed on a Sunday in early June and we had just had a month of rain in May. But the course was not reflecting that at all. You would have thought we were in the middle of a drought. Tee boxes were in horrible shape; very patchy. Some were nothing but dirt. The greens were only slightly better, making putting difficult as your ball bounces several times on it's way to the hole. These guys should have seeded back in April and May, or earlier. After all the rain we had, the course should have been lush and full. Sand traps were a mess, some even only had dirt and not sand. Half the ball washers were empty or broken. And navigating from one hole to the next was interesting as you rolled over poor gravel/grass paths, weave in between a couple houses, or cross over someones driveway. Hungry? Don't plan on eating here unless you just want a hot dog. In the clubhouse, which was decent looking, listed only three sandwiches and hot dogs. Turns out, they didn't have any sandwiches, just the dogs. And this was on a SUNDAY. The weekend! They should have had many things ready since Sunday should be one of the two busiest days of the week. And they were over priced. A dog, chips, and a drink cost me $8. I felt like I was at Camden Yards. Positives: Very friendly staff. And that's about it. Everything else was average or below. As you can probably tell, I will not be returning. read more

I played this course 3 days ago. This is honestly the worst course I've ever played. I won't talk about the course layout, it is what it is. But, know that it is extremely challenging and you will lose a LOT of balls. What I will talk about is how poor the course is kept. Blast the drive of the day and think you're hitting from the fairway? Not here, here you are hitting from dirt patches and dead orange grass. If you don't mind the winter rules of dropping from a decent patch of grass 5 yards away, then no worries. If you think hitting from a plush tee box is nice, you should consider playing other courses. The tee boxes here are as spotty as a 15 year old face who works at McDonalds, and dryer than the Sahara! But don't worry, once you get to the greens it's smooth sailing! Haha, just kidding! The greens are burnt, bumpy and resemble a street walkers nether regions. So all in all, I'd say this course would benefit from being set on fire, collecting the insurance money and starting from scratch... but there is one plus, all the golf carts are in working order. read more

1st time playing this course and it was tough! Very challenging layout, lots of doglegs, gullies and natural hazards all over the place. I'm giving 3 stars because some of the tee boxes were in poor shape, some sand traps were in disrepair and the fairways weren't the best I've ever seen. Played here a few years ago and didn't like it however today was a vastly different experience. The clubhouse although small is very nice and the staff very friendly. Now to the golf. The course is a challenge and is very hilly with blind shots and waste areas on many holes. I am a 12 handicap and found it to be a fun round. The greens are in great shape and roll very true. Had several putts that made me feel like a golfer. The cart part is a bit treacherous and they could use new signage on some of the holes. Overall a good experience and I will be back as the price is right and I had enough pars on the front 9 that I will give it another go. read more

The course is in great shape (with the exceptions of a couple bunkers they are working on) greens, fairways, clubhouse all are in great shape. I've played this course for years and it was initially for the price but the conditions have vastly improved in the last year. Very challenging course with a lot of off camber shots which force you to really think about your shot. Greens roll pretty sweet and the fairways are pretty decent overall. Real grass driving range with many different " looks" so practice doesn't get boring. Price is a 5 star with some courses being just outrageous on the weekends. Again it's not perfect but overall it's great. read more

I just left an event here. The food was SPECTACULAR. Location is beautiful. Gorgeous outdoor area, clubhouse is small but warm and very very clean. My husband played a round of golf. The course is very challenging but he loves the change of pace and the difficulty level because it helps him hone his skills. This is not a great place for a weak player (aka me). We were worried about the condition of the course here after reading some reviews but honestly it was great. I spoke to the owner about our concerns, he explained his approach and why sometimes there are patches (it's on 200 acres in the country - animals can be destructive) but they fix it and don't do anything to harm the wildlife. This is super important to me because being a good steward to our earth is a priority most businesses don't honor. River Downs DOES. Staff was super nice, their bourbon cider and goat cheese salad had me in heaven. Seriously, love it here. I'm even thinking of having an event here in the winter . I'm hoping to make it here again for their Friday night happy hours! read more

These two pictures tell it all. What a trashy "course". The fairways are nothing but dirt, the tee boxes are like pastures without any grass, and the greens are so-so. They still have the nerve to charge $45.00 per round. They definitely do no maintenance on this "course" throughout any part of the year. They should be ashamed to even charge anyone to play here, and the employees should be embarrassed to even work here. I can't believe the people who live on this "course" don't complain about this eyesore. Hopefully this "course" will shut down in the near future. read more

Mostly horrible, but nice greens and nice staff. Finksburg is a little out of the way for us, but the online price was good ($28), so we made the trek, hoping this course would be a diamond in the rough. It ended up being a rock in the rough. There were only two staff people, both of whom were very pleasant and helpful. The driving range is natural grass, which wasn't in great shape, but at least it was grass. The practice green wasn't bad. The course itself, on the other hand, was just horrible, with the exception of the greens. The layout isn't very user friendly, it's easily the hilliest course I've ever played, and the distance between some holes is crazy long, making it all but impossible to walk. Most of the tee boxes are rough, most of the fairways are really rough, and most of the roughs are even rougher. But the greens are excellent, which was very surprising. The #10 hole has to be the most poorly designed hole I've ever seen. From any of the tee boxes on #10, there's almost no visible landing area. We had to walk inside the clubhouse to ask the girl behind the counter if that was indeed the hole, which it was. Much of the course is so unusual and in such bad condition, that it doesn't really give the average golfer a fair test. All in all, it was bad enough that I'll probably never play it again. The greens and the friendly staff would be the only reason I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 star. I would be very surprised if it stays in business much longer. There were only ten cars in the parking lot on a gorgeous midday Saturday. Sadly, not recommended. read more

This place is great. The staff is wonderul and every week they are making small improvements to make play better. Yes, there are some tee boxes that are challenged but that is mostly because of the shaded and/or wet locations. If you want a fairly priced, tough round of golf, this is the place. I really liked the course- very interesting with 5 par fives and 5 par threes- many holes in unique configurations. A welcome change from uninspired courses. I liked how far apart the holes were- plenty of opportunity to drive under tress and thru tunnels to cool off. When we were there the tees and fairways were fine but the greens were a little rough, but ok. Staff were nice, especially the very friendly starter.
