I'm new to Bingo and decided to check out a couple of bingo halls in Austin. Capitol Bingo really…read morestands out for a few reasons: 1) Friendly and fun - the staff here is super friendly, can't wait to help out a new person and everyone here is smiling and having a good time. Some of the bingo halls are operated by a staff of grumpy people and it makes the clients grumpy too. North Austin Bingo (see my review) is a joyless pit while this place was a fun time! 2) Affordable. This place has it figured out. Want to play bingo on paper with ink? Only $1 for a card!!! You want a computer, it's only $5 for the session. You want to be a total degen and surround yourself with computers, well at least you wont break the bank. Two computers and one paper were $11 here. Cost me $36 at North Star Bingo and it was horrible. 3) They actually call Bingo here. When the actual Bingo session begins, they treat it like a real game of Bingo. They call the numbers, they give you time to mark them off. Sounds simple, but if you've played at a hall where they just rip the numbers off super fast you know that all the fun is sucked out of the game. They respect that some people want to be entertained, not just gamble. 4) Pull tabs are kept in control. All these places rely on pull tabs to make ends meet, and the customers certainly eat them up. They are not my thing at all, but this place neatly compartmentalizes the games so if you want to play Bingo, you play Bingo during the sessions. Other halls had so many pull tabs and horse race games mixed it it was distracting. 5) It's clean! This can't be said for some of the dingy halls in Austin 6) Just an ok place to hang out. The sound is good. they have a full snack bar with food. The chairs are comfortable. They seem to care to make the experience a good one. If you read my reviews of some other bingo halls, you will see not many care at all. This place cares.

I went to Big Star Bingo with some couples and had a blast. So when i saw this bingo hall ran day…read moregames, I thought I'd pop over at lunch and see if it was a fun time. Spoiler: It wasn't. This place is filled with gambling addicts. The average person here had literally 10 computers (many had more), and no one played paper. As a result, the ball caller ripped through the numbers so fast only a computer could keep up. It was never clear what game was being played, you couldn't hear the caller over the muffled sound system, and they went so fast I could barely mark my card in time. The employees were not friendly, all they cared about was selling pull tabs, which they sold endless amounts of to people who instantly ripped them open and threw them away. Just an utterly joyless experience as far as playing Bingo, having fun and maybe winning a little money. I would go back to Big Star in a flash. Super fun, cheap price. This was expensive, full of upsells, optional games, add ons, and extras. I'm uploading a couple pics just to show what you're up against trying to win here: person and person surrounded by banks of computers. These people need to hit a BINGO jackpot just to break even on the day. And the place was filled with them. Staff was rude. I told them I was a first timer and they couldn't care. No help figuring out what game was being played. Even the woman at the snack bar was grumpy. Utterly joyless establishment.

Bingo has always been one of her favorite things on the planet, and recently, this seems to be her favorite place to go. So I agreed to tag along. It was really cozy and I liked that! When we walked in the boy spinning a prize wheel knew my mom's name. I thought that meant she has a gambling problem but turns out it's that way with a lot of the customers here. The people working here learn their regulars. I was impressed. The employees are also very friendly. There is smoking and non-smoking. Thankfully, we sat in non-smoking since we had my nephew with us. Not sure of the age limit but kids are allowed. They do have to play if attending. The did have a kitchen but it has been closed since COVID. So you're able to bring your own food and drinks...INCLUDING ALCOHOL! I didn't though because I didn't know until I got there and saw people cracking open cold ones. We stayed for both sessions which is about 3 hours total. I didn't win anything. I've never been lucky which is part of the reasons gambling and bingo in particular never appealed to me. But this was a bit different. Apparently, you can play computers. With those you really can't miss anything...you don't even really have to pay attention! That was pretty cool because I could be on Twitter getting caught up on the latest Omarion/Mario Verzuz drama while not worrying about sleeping my bingo. Really, I didn't have to worry about it because (as usual) I never came close. But you know what...I'LL BE BACK! It seemed different here then other bingo halls I've been in before. I don't know what it was. Just more relaxed and friendly here. Not that I have much to compare it to. But if you want a comfy place to pass some time around friendly people why not? Plus, my mom went the very next day and won so :/

It's really expensive to play at Treasure Island Bingo in Austin. I was in town visiting and…read morefigured that I 'd give this bingo hall a try but I should've kept my money and went back to capitol bingo instead. When I first got to Treasure island they asked me for my first & last name then proceeded to type in the computer system which I didn't understand what was going so I once again told them that I've never played there before hence all the questions that I was asking. They also asked for my date of birth, I guess they were creating a profile for me. They didn't clearly explain the games so I didn't know which games were being sold or played at the same time. They didn't explain that some games were double action and others were not. The pull tabs are very random as well, meaning that when I first got there they told me they were only playing and selling 3 pull tab games which I figured would be great but instead they started selling additional pull tabs (none of which were "all play" so you've basically been just wasting money, hoping that you get one of the horses). The parking was nice but this bingo hall is not smoke-free. I've played Bingo in several other states and in my opinion this Treasure Island Bingo Austin location charges too much to play for what you get in return. When you add the $25 machine cost with adding early birds and pull tabs for both sessions you'll be spending $400 in no time which definitely isn't worth it. They also allow the workers to play bingo while they're working which I've never seen happen at any bingo place I've played at. Overall a very weird bingo experience, I don't plan on returning back. The caller does call the numbers at a good speed.

A few years ago, nobody believed me that they would be expanding. It was just a hunch…read more This is an incredible poker brand that does almost everything right. I do believe some locations are nicer and safer than others but I won't get into that. This location is nice and safe. And very well run. Obviously, TCH Austin is going to see enormous market-share gains due to recent events in the area. I believe smaller TX rooms without a fun vibe and character will fade away, market-share will continue to improve for TCH across the state and GTDs will continue to move higher. Side Note: Bullets and Champions are smaller rooms that are fun and have character and are on the good side. I believe the same thing will happen in Vegas. All the poker rooms at the ends of the Strip are closing, which is leading to increased traffic for the bigger and more centralized rooms. There is only one poker room left at the end of the strip and I think it has a few years left at best. However, Vegas rooms that are fun and with character--just like in TX--will thrive. I put South Point at the very top of that list. Getting back to TX, I think TCH is at zero risk of suffering the same fate as other rooms and will become an absolute juggernaut for a long time. Even if the casinos move in, they will likely buy the brand--if it gets big enough. These are just my thoughts and opinions. If you're a poker player traveling to TX for a poker tourney, I highly recommend TCH.
