They had a rep for Widex convince me to buy a very expensive and very high tech hearing aid. I never was able to use them, even with making multiple adjustments to the settings. My insurance was supposed to cover everything but a $35 copay up to $6000. This was confirmed before I made the purchase. I knew the hearing aids didn't work for my hearing loss needs after approx a two week trial period. The mistake I made was that I didn't reach out until months later when I started receiving bills. While I knew they didn't work, I thought they were paid for. AA said at that time I was beyond my warranty and that I was stuck with the hearing aids. I just received yet another bill from something I'd closed the chapter on because my insurance company apparently paid a payment twice and now they are coming to me for the funds Aetna didn't cover. I've now paid out over $1000 for $35 hearing aids that are taking up space in a cabinet. I was upsold from the beginning against my better judgment and it has cost me money, stress, and frustration. I will not use Albemarle Audiology ever again and if you choose to use them, do not be oversold something you perhaps don't need. I am in the process of taking this up with my HR department and Aetna as well. I place a great deal of blame on AA for the way this was handled from the start.

I was fortunate to be referred to this place by my primary care physician, who never steers me wrong. I hadn't been tested for hearing for forty years of so, and, to be sure, things have changed a great deal since the audiologists applied a tuning fork to your skull. I was having some hearing loss in both ears, but mostly on the left. Dr. Danny Gnewikow, who is apparently the owner, gave me an extensive examination and carefully explained each test and what it was expected to disclose. When the nature of the impairment was determined, the doctor explained various alternatives, including ding nothing and half a dozen various hearing aid alternatives. Honestly, I had expected a sales pitch akin to those used by vacation time-share guys, but this was entirely without pressure. He suggested I try a hearing aide for a month at no cost and then decide. He outlined the payment plan which they handle in-house, at no interest. Not bad. I haven't decided yet but the doctor told me to call for an appointment if I wanted to try a hearing aid- anytime. Dr. Gnewikow was very professional. Nearly all the audiologists there hold doctoral degrees in audiology a process that requires four years post-college. Dr. Gnewikow is a grad of the number one rated Vanderbilt University audiology program. I think I got the best available care here in Lynchburg. Everyone at the office treated me with care concern professionalism and compassion, which is all one can ask, I suppose. If you go.please note that they are moving to a new location in a couple of months, about a block away. Call for the new address.

I…read moreexplained that this is the first time I have ever gotten hearing aides in my life and needed help getting molds made of the pair my disabled friend, who works with the hearing impaired, helped me get. The female staff person asked if I was a patient. I said no. She then told me that since they have opened in 1960s(?) they have never fitted anyone who wasn't their patient. Then she said good luck and hung up on me. While the policy is not surprising andI understand it, the staff person's judgmental tone and dismissive attitude when speaking with me left me with a very bad taste in my mouth. It is not easy to come to the realization that you need hearing aides and seeking help from a company that sells hearing aides only to be treated that way makes it that much worse.
