Walked in and was the only customer. Girl on counter had no greeting/smile/hello to offer. I browsed through the store often asking things myself because she didn't offer any assistance or ask me if I was looking for anything. I came in looking for Victorian dresses. That particular section had a chain around it. When I tried looking through it she could see I was struggling with the chain but didn't offer a word of help. I asked her if I could take the chain off to which she said be careful those are our oldest items. Umm okay. Maybe you can leave the counter for a single second and come assist your only customer. Her answers to my questions seemed like she wasn't interested in helping so I left. I said thank you while leaving to which there was, silence and zero reciprocation again. read more

Horrible customer service. Upon entry, I was looked at and then immediately ignored. The associate was on her phone the whole time and seemed more preoccupied in texting than assisting myself or other customers. Much like other reviews on both Yelp and Google, the girls behind the counter are disinterested and very cold. You can tell this owner goes out of her way to defend them instead of adhering to the words offered by customers. "Decent" selection. The vintage offered here is not the highest quality. Many items are overpriced considering the amount of damage intact. You're better off going to L Train or Urban Jungle. If you want something more interesting, go farther south to LES. This is a spot in Nolita you will want to avoid if you want fair or quality vintage. read more

Well curated with the price tag to match. If you have $300+ to invest in a vintage piece or two this would be a good place to stop. They have clothing from the late 1800's to the 1980's and there are some stunning and timeless pieces that pop up on these racks. You will find: Intricate beaded frocks from the 20's, delicate crop top coats from the 50's, soft velvet dresses and warm fur caplets - the list goes on. If you are looking for a more intricate, antique, or delicate piece - don't be shy to ask - they keep the most precious pieces out of immediate reach but would be happy to let you see or try them on. read more

Decent selection but there is very little difference in what is offered if you come in regularly. As if they clearly can't sell what is on the racks. But sometimes you will find something very nice and reasonably priced. The few employees though are truly hit or miss. An associate on one occasion was incredibly helpful. The other, bleach blonde short hair girl, makes no attempt at greetings and is nearly silent while on computer or phone. Offers no assistance and ignored me to talk to her friend(s) on more than one occasion. Not the worst vintage shop in the area but from the best in the city. read more

I have frequented many vintage stores and expos. This was unfortunately a negative experience. The woman working was extremely unfriendly and did not offer assistance. Older items are out of reach, which I understand as they are delicate. However, when asked if they were available for purchase (they had price tags) I was told they were for productions. So I clarified if they were for sale, and it was reluctantly confirmed by the employee that they are. Apparently I am not the ideal customer, so I will be taking my business elsewhere and cannot recommend going out of one's way to shop here. read more

If you're looking for the quintessential NYC vintage shop, look no further! This shop has EVERYTHING. Loads of fun 60's and 70's clothes but also a great selection of wearable, historical pieces. Lots of vintage Levi's and denim bell bottoms in every size. Friendly staff... helpful but not pushy. Excellent curation. Fair pricing! This is clearly not a thrift store but a wonderfully curated vintage shop. They have clearly done the digging for you and all the pieces are in excellent condition. Shops like these are rare and special. It's totally packed to the brim too. If you don't see what you're looking for right away, just ask because the person working will know exactly where your special item might be stashed. read more

When I think of vintage, I think reallyof cool, hip bad ass clothes. This was nowhere near badass. It felt like I walked into the Victorian era here - it made me want to don my petticoat, take a leisurely stroll down to Westminster Hall, prop up my feet next to the Queen and pop oven the new Dickens novel. One of the best vintage places I've come across. Tons of items in a range of prices - love the $30 bin - and time periods. Unless you dress like Betsey Johnson, you won't build an entire wardrobe here, but you will definitely find some unique conversation starter pieces to punctuate it with. read more

A store that sells clothes should be evaluated as a clothing store and so I can only give Ritual Vintage 3 stars. Perhaps if I were still a costumer and had an unlimited budget, it would rank higher but for vintage clothes at these prices they lack the sturdiness and special details I would like. The store is kind of dimly lit which makes it a bit difficult to evaluate the clothes. The dressing room is just the back of the store, closed off with a curtain. Most of the items are not everyday wearable nor would I choose them for costumes unless they particularly fitted my needs. However, they do have some less costly items and if you're willing to spend some time, I think the selection is varied enough that you'll find something that speaks to you if you come by often enough. I have been haunting this store for a while and I finally found my special piece. Labeled "modern", black and white, boning in the bodice, asymmetrical skirt. I never would have picked it out for myself but I love it and like any good garment, it doesn't wear me but it makes me carry myself a little bit differently, a little more self-assured, a little more graceful. read more

I bought a super cute shirt here last week. The selection is really good, although I know it will change constantly. The staff was really friendly and helpful. They were a tad bit expensive I think, but I thought I made a good purchase and will get good wear our of my new blouse. I would come here more often if they were more reasonable. read more

As a history buff, I felt like a kid in a candy store browsing through Ritual's unique collection of Victorian- and Edwardian-era pieces. Yes, the store is small, but I have yet to find a larger selection of purchasable antique garments in the city. That said, most of the items are impractical for everyday use: fragile and diaphanous, with hundreds of years of wear and tear. And a little bit expensive, considering those facts. I've only been there once and didn't buy anything, but the experience of getting to gingerly thumb through century-old nightdresses and the prospect of maybe, someday, finding something semi-wearable will have me returning to the store, for sure.... read more

This is my favorite vintage clothing shop in the city!! I came upon the shop a few years ago when I was living on Mott St. when they first opened and have been a loyal costumer ever since. I am a model and occasionally style photo shoots. I can always trust that every season the shop is up to date with influences current with fashion. It was a one-star review on Yelp that led me to check out this place! I stopped trying to be cool after high school when I realized I'd never succeed, and slowly learned to accept that I'm just a huge nerd with an all-consuming passion for very old things full of details and beauty. I'm sure that cool girls with a little creativity and patience to sort through racks of "boring" stuff would find something to suit their wardrobe. But this store is truly excellent for those who love vintage because they know that the time before "fast fashion" produced so many intricate and unique treasures, and come with a glimpse into history to boot. The promise of a store full of the very old stuff for which I usually spend hours and hours scouring ebay was just irresistible to me! You can find a frayed leather jacket in any vintage store in the city (and there are just SO MANY of them), but I doubt you'll find anywhere else with the sort of selection to be found at Ritual Vintage. As someone who's made a hobby of rehabilitating pre-1960s clothes so that I can wear them (and no, you don't need to attire yourself in full-on period costume in order to wear a Victorian jacket; in fact, when worn by a really Cool Girl, it can be super-edgy and take quite a modern spin), I was delighted to see so many lovely and interesting pieces already in wearable condition at Ritual Vintage. The store may be small, but the racks are full of gems. A 1930s floor-length dress made of pure red silk velvet (my favorite fabric in the world--so soft, and they just don't make it anymore; every "silk velvet" has rayon in it now!) especially caught my eye, as did a wonderfully lustrous blue ombre silk satin bias-cut gown with a fully intact rhinestone buckle from roughly the same period. When I stopped into Ritual Vintage, I was out shopping for my upcoming trip to Morocco, so I don't currently have the money to spend on clothes other than things suitable to wear in its more conservative, cover-all-of-your-body locales. But I spent around an hour just looking through everything in this small store and was really impressed by the selection and the condition of so many things which are naturally pretty fragile and usually found in more deteriorated states unless they're in museums. I will definitely be back, and if you're looking for a vintage store that has something other than nine-hundred pairs of tooled leather cowboy boots from the 70s, you should check it out too. read more

I was visiting from Texas and looked up vintage shops in the area as a vintage enthusiast. This shop is very overpriced. Yes, some items are designer and may warrant that price tag but much of it is still very overpriced. I was disappointed with this store. read more

Stopped into today after eye-ing up my friend's dress she had just purchased here. They were having a sale, which was a real score. The shop is tiny and cute. Jam-packed with quality vintage. Prices for dresses ranged from around $100-800 (Herve Ledger). I picked up a really bad-ass tooled leather belt. They have some pretty sweet handbags and jewelry as well. I'll be back. read more

I stopped in here looking for Court which is right around the corner on Mulberry...Fun to look but none of it is vintage I would actually wear. There is a lot of clothing from the Victorian era it seems... The girl working(nicki?) was really nice and helpful even though I left empty handed. The store smells awesome though! read more
