On 6/17/19 at approximately 1100 hrs. I went in to this store seeking to purchase a pack of cigarettes, when i noticed that there was no one at the front counter. As I began looking around, I noticed a female employee (who refused to give me her name) walking away towards the back, so I called to her to get her attention...if i were a thief I could have had a field day. That's how unaware or unconcerned about the stores security she was.
Once she arrived at the counter, I asked for my cigs. and in passing I inquired if the Rite Aid discounts applied to this purchase. With a very unprofessional, unwelcoming and condescending tone she replied that it doesn't. Her disposition was so condescending and demeaning I felt compelled to inform her that she "acted as if she was there at her job despite the customer, rather than because of customers." I went on to state, "I am sure that Rite Aid values quality customer service above her indifferent presence at this store outlet." She mumbled a racial slur in a low voice, so I asked to speak with her manager.
When Shaun, the store manager, arrived at the counter i could easily detect that her attitude only reflected his indifference to my concern as a customer. After explaining to Shaun what I experienced with the female employee, he minimized my concern and ignored the fact that I was offended by her demeanor, words and attitude.
Finally, I asked for the name of the District Manager, which he refused to give me. However, he reluctantly gave me his name and store number ( store # 07924). At that time I informed him that i would be writing this review.
As the CEO of a digital marketing firm Lewis Media Group, LLC that is here to assist small businesses to "Get Noticed" on the web, in collaboration with the National Better Business Bureau (BBB), the Allegheny County Chamber of Commerce and Google , I understand the value of "customer satisfaction" and the "customer experience". After experiencing this situation it was evident that neither one of these Rite Aid employees have been made familiar with these concepts.
I hope that both these Rite Aid employees will be retrained in: cultural sensitivity, self-restraint and the true meaning of "customer satisfaction".
