Located in the heart of Squirrel Hill, a bustling neighborhood in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, lies a…read moreRite Aid that I've frequented during my visits to the area. Situated on Murray Avenue, this pharmacy has been a convenient stop for my family's needs, especially when it comes to grabbing essentials for my children. I recall a time when my son was feeling under the weather, and I needed to get him some Gatorade and cough drops. I quickly made my way to the Rite Aid, assuming they would have the items I needed. However, as I stepped inside, I noticed that the store seemed a bit lackluster compared to its usual appearance. The shelves weren't fully stocked, and there was an air of disorganization that I hadn't experienced during my previous visits. Rite Aid drugstores filed for bankruptcy 10 months ago. Since that time, stores have been closing at a rapid rate and many that are still open are filled with empty shelves. So some of the issues here are expected.  Navigating through the aisles, I eventually found the Gatorade and but not the cough drops that I was looking for. The checkout process was smooth, but I couldn't help but wonder about the store's current state. It appeared that the Rite Aid was going through some issues.  This Rite Aide is in my daughter's neighborhood and I usually stop in here on my visits to Pittsburgh. This time I needed to get some Gatorade for #1 son and some cough drops as he was coming down with sniffles on my last day of our visit.  Bottom line: It's close and convenient for both my kids and I hope this Rite Aide survivestheor difficulties and can come back to their previous conditions.

This is the phone robot of a retail store, not my credit card company. In fact, even if you do enter the information, you do not get to speak to anyone. You have to leave a message? So I left a message asking if my UPMC insurance works for their pharmacy and how much it would be without insurance if they don't "before I drive all the way to this location." (It was the holiday and so many pharmacies have to be open in so much of a radius, so my normal spots were not open.) I got a call an hour later (that went straight to voicemail somehow). All the message said was "yes, we're open until 6 p.m." Yes, what? I never even asked what time they were open? What kind of response is this? It didn't answer my questions. Guess what? Not only does UPMC NOT work at CVS, but no one told me they had a lunch break. So I drive 20 minutes sick and end up having to wait 15 minutes in the store. All they had to say for their message was "the clerk must not have known." Wow. What kind of healthcare is this? Good grief. I will never go to a CVS, even if it's the last drug store on Earth. Holiday or not, these are people we are trusting with our lives. Scary.

They should also set up a distinct…read moreline for the kiosks only, because right now some people think everyone has to stay in one line for both the front cashier and self checkout, which is not a good use of anyone's time. Paper bags at each kiosk are helpful too. Plus, their front automatic doors have been out of service for a while now. This CVS is falling apart. Finally, they need to restock on a lot of items inside. The only positive is the parking lot. If one side is full, you can parallel park on the other side, still within the lot.

Formerly I just had to enter the presciption number. Now it is made difficult to do that, with several steps replacing one step -- "enter the prescription number". These new steps are not obvious. If we were simply asked, for example, to press 1 to use the app, 2 to enter the prescription number, that would be much easier.

Hidden in a residential area. CVS seems to like to do that, pop up in residential areas as to corner the market. You got built in foot traffic of the neighborhood. This one is kind of horrible on space. There is a small parking lot adjoined to this, maybe enough for a dozen cars max. I suppose you could say there is street parking as well, but that is iffy. Especially since there is no guarantee you will find a spot in the neighborhood. Also it sits at a weird intersection which can be tricky at times to get in and out of this place. Inside is not much bigger, feels a bit claustrophobic. It is hard to move around the store and you can feel trapped. It also makes for finding things a bit hard. I couldn't find what I wanted because with the longer aisles there are less aisles. Meaning that things are not going to be where you might think they are. I had to ask for the one item I needed and it totally wasn't in the area I thought it would be. I also stopped to get some drinks to hold me over at work. They do have a cooler section, but it is a small cooler section. It was also picked over, but I was able to get what I needed. Customer service was amazing. The lady I asked to help me find the item I needed was very nice and chatty. Helped me during check out as well.
