I called this pharmacy 5 times and the first three times they picked up the phone and hung up right away. So I tried again because I really needed to know if my medication was ready before I drove over for no reason and they just kept sending me back to the voice machine over and over again while I was on the phone for 10 min trying to get my question answered. The first few times I heard people in the background and I understand if they're busy, let me know I'll be on hold for a bit. But to not even be answered after 5 calls and 20 min of going back and forth on my phone is ridiculous and the worst customer service I have ever experienced. The Patient has requested me to address these concerns thoroughly and inform you of the potential legal implications and repercussions of these actions. 1. **Specifics of the Case**: The Patient, who is currently and has been for some time a customer (RiteAid Pharmacy, Magalia, CA) has been prescribed necessary medications by a board-certified pain medical specialist, yet your pharmacy, including but not limited to the "Pharmacist in Charge" (Didy Cho) has repeatedly denied access to these medications without providing a specific rationale. This denial appears inconsistent and arbitrary, particularly given that these medications are reportedly regularly dispensed to other patients. 2. **Legal Rights and Protections**: Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (42 U.S.C. § 12101 et seq.), and the Unruh Civil Rights Act (Cal. After 25 years of being on the same medications, the NEW pharmacist decided that he was not comfortable filling both medications and that I could only have one of the two. I have been taking these two in conjunction for so long that there should be no question as to my ability to handle both correctly, especially when my doctor prescribes them again. Fig a pharmacist is going to make this type of decision he should have to review a patients medicine history from all the hearts ut has been recorded before he makes this type of decision. Then to make matters worse, I fell down, face planted. I am 71 and have degenerative disc disease in both my neck and lower back. Since I fell I was in excruciating pain so my orthopedist called in a prescription for Norco. This pharmacist decided I did not need that medication as well. California law (I looked it up) is supposed to refer to another pharmacist. Instead of doing that he put out a notice to all pharmacies that I was a drug abuser so no one would fill it. I have had a prescription for Norco for years and NEVER use more than 30 in a year! But times have changed and so now I can only get them when in dire need. I also have a recurring prescription for a controlled substance meaning I cannot pick it up before the due date. on the due date I am forced to call. Fig I call before the due date to remind them that the due date is coming up in 2 dy they tell me to call back on the due date. So I do. Then I get to call back several times to find out if it is ready. Mostly it isn't. Finally when they call to say it's ready it's 6:45 and there is no way I can reach the pharmacy before it closes. Or when they call and I come to pick up I am told it will be another 15 to 30 minutes before it will be ready often again going past pharmacy hours. So in both cases I am left without my DAILY medication. Since this is a recurring medication it needs to be filled immediately when the pharmacist arrives for the day so it is ready for me to pick up. I see many negative reviews and apologies from the company. The apologies are useless unless they are accompanied by change. I want to know my rating is read AND acted upon. I want to know that my recurring medication will be ready on the day it is due without my having to call. I want to know that the pharmacist who sullied my reputation has been reprimanded for not following state law and that my record has been cleared. Can I make myself more clear??? read more

I didnt rate this store a 5 this store has been a nightmare for me and my Mother and Brother who are ill. My Mother suffers from a broken back, I shattered my wrist at work and my brother has cyst on his pancreas the size of a softball. They have even gone as far to violate our Hippa. Sent a note to our doctor that rather nasty and tried to defame us to him. Rite Aid Magalia CA. Horrible. Read the in depth review by others. I have had to call an ambulance twice to take my wife to the hospital because of this pharmacies refusal to fill perscriptions. The head pharmacist has denied filling my wife's pain medication on the grounds that she is uncomfortable filling it and proceeds to put in a call to the doctor. Our Doctor is so frustrated with this pharmacist, second guessing him, that he will no longer call her back to clarify the same prescription he has written for my wife for over 2 years. Every time she puts it on hold, and my wife who has severe pain from neuralgia left over from shingles sits at home in agonizing pain while this pharmacist who thinks she knows more than the doctor refuses to fill the prescription. It has gotten so bad she now has a personal issue at this point with us, our doctor, and our medication. They are way understaffed and constantly take many days to fill a prescription. The pharmacy would not fill her prescription for an inhaler, and I was forced to call an ambulance to take her to the hospital where they gave her the meds she needed right away and filled her prescriptions. It is Monday. I went to my doctor's last Wednesday. She gave me a prescription and had it called in to Rite Aid here in Magalia. I decided to wait a day to go in and pick it up as the pharmacy is ALWAYS reliably so slow. They are never ready on the first day it is called in so I figure giving them a day to get it ready is a good amount of time to give them. So I went there on Friday morning. I get there at around 9:30 am and after waiting in line for 20 minutes, I am told that they had not filled it yet. They say it will be 15 minutes to a half hour to get it accomplished. I am disabled and have issues with standing for long periods and so rather than spend more time standing around waiting for them I tell them I will try again later in the day. I went back two more times, the last time was at 1:30 in the afternoon and after another 20 minutes in line was told that they had finally filled it but I would not be allowed to pick it up because there was no pharmacist there. They cannot allow me to pick up my prescription because the pharmacist had to explain to me what the drug was and how to take it etc etc. They tell me that the pharmacist should be back in an hour. I try to explain that my doctor and I have already discussed everything that is needed and I am already informed. But I guess it is a state law that I am not allowed to take my prescription without having a pharmacist discuss it with me even if my doctor has discussed it with me and prescribed it. So I give up after dealing with this for an hour or so and go home. When I get back to my house I have a message on my answering machine from their automated system telling me that I needed to pick up my prescription. I am WTH? I just tried to do that but they would not let me. So today is Monday and I am dreading trying to get my meds yet again today.I am not enthusiastic about waiting in line for another 20 minutes or so. I am crossing my fingers that they will not come up with yet another excuse to not give me my prescription and try to make me come back yet again! At almost $7 a gallon it is not cheap to keep running back and forth. I am glad that these meds are not needed to save my life otherwise I would be dead by now!!! It is so frustrating to deal with this level of incompetence. Even in this ad for them they list all the hours that the pharmacy is open but not one mention about when the pharmacist will be available. Since they are not allowing people to get their meds without a pharmacist it seems like this would be important information to list as well. But no mention of it. I also wonder how much this applies. When I have surgery will my sister or any caretaker be required to make me go with them to pick up my meds because a pharmacist has to tell me all about them first even though I am supposed to have bed rest?? I am supposed to have surgery in the next month and I am wondering how I am supposed to get my meds with this level of incompetence to rely on. I do not know if my doctor will do it or not but if she will do it I will have her send the prescription to another pharmacy so I can actually get them! read more

Pharmacy service can be slow. My wife had a severe infection, Dr called in the prescription at 2pm. We followed up with calls between then and closing. but ended up not getting an important prescription by closing. We now have a night of worry without medication we need. Staff is always friendly but very busy. The people at the front very helpful and friendly. The store is clean and well stocked with a good variety of items, some items even local to the community. read more

(I had to use the Rite Aid pharmacy in a different town three times due to being away from home. Wow, did it make me appreciate the Magalia pharmacy.) Always well-stocked and clean. Watch out for the Pharmacy. Numerous errors and lack of communication on their part have lead to complete frustration on my part. I hate Rite Aid! Be very careful verifying that they are giving you the right price using your insurance coverage. Even though they had my insurance info they quoted me $143 for an antibiotic when I brought in the prescription, because I couldn't afford it at the time I went without for a month. When I did go in to fill it later, the price was actually $25. Another time my husband went in with a prescription for antibiotics which he purchased at the price of $200, when he got home and I objected he went back and the price with his insurance was $5. Be aware when using their phone refill service, although it will tell you that your prescription is being filled and will be ready for pickup, several times I have made the trip to the store and was told it was too early to refill (last time just 1 day early). When I went a week later to get the last refill, they wouldn't give it to me because the Pharmacist wasn't there, even though I have been on the same med for 7 mths and never consult with the Pharmacist. These issues could have been avoided if they had communicated the "rules" and/or updated the phone service to let you know a prescription is not eligible for refill. I don't know about you, but my time, gas, stress level is valuable to me and they care not at all about your inconvenience. read more

I just left this store & fell very hard near the counter because there was a puddle of water on the floor. Not only did the cashier then not clean the water up, he laughed at me when I told him about it & said "haha yeah I saw that" I am in a lot of pain & obviously extremely embarrassed. Love the convenence of having a Rite-Aid in Magalia. The pharmacy is wonderful now that they guarantee your prescription will be filled in 15 mins. or less. If it takes longer than 15 minutes, you get a $5 giftcard. I must have about 20 giftcards kicking around before the pharmacy started to expedite orders. What I don't love is the manager (fat, bad guy with glasses) who yells at the customers if they take the "Buy it Now" coupon off the item before getting to the register. I was hassled over a 30 cent off coupon for Thrifty's ice-cream and felt that was VERY inappropriate. read more

I am frustrated that the cashiers in the pharmacy area do not know how to run vaccine administration (flu shots, pneumonia shots, etc) through as medical and not pharmacy. They come and tell you its not covered by your insurance, even when it is because they have not been trained how to do it by corporate. I have tried twice, put them on the phone with my insurance company each time, and still, they cannot figure it out. But the store is great for normal prescriptions, always helpful, and oriented on the customer. I just wish they had more complete training as they are near my home and it would be so convenient. read more

When the store was first built I thought it was an ugly design, but the inside is so nice and clean. Almost every time I go inside a clerk welcomes me there. The pharmacy workers always look really busy but If you get a chance to talk to one they are friendly and courteous. I havent had a bad experience yet.
