We took a night train from Lapland to Helsinki and arrived at this station around 630am. The station was clear and easy to navigate- similar to other train stations in nearby countries. Outside of the platform but still in the station you'll find quick bites like Starbucks, Burger King, Subway, etc. There is also a convenient store inside for drinks/snacks. For it being 630am this station was packed, there's a few main seating areas and they were full. We had no problem getting off the train, grabbing a coffee, and heading off to our hotel. This station is also super close to the city center. Several shops (including a mall) and a ton of restaurants are within a 8ish minute walk making it a very convenient location.

Not sure other people will have the same appreciation for this. But if you have time and tired of the regular sightseeing, this might be the place for you.

The central walkway is wide and lined with beautiful mature trees. In the center of the park is a statue of Johan Ludwig Runeberg. On my return walk back to the ship there was a musician playing a violin for tips in front of the statue. A beautiful sound with a fabulous setting. Near the east end is the Kappeli restaurant, opened in 1867. Across from the restaurant is a large outdoor stage, disappointed neither was open at the early time I came thru the park. Both looked wonderful. Across from the park on the north side are several shops, cafes and hotels to wander about while near the park. A very clean area to spend the day in.
