I was wandering by the Rock Church today and walked into this bookshop. The owner's wife greeted…read moreme and was very kind and suggested I stay awhile and see the shop, and then another worker did the same! The front is absolutely beautiful, spacious and yet packed with rare books, signed books, all the books you'd want. It's mostly English but there are also French, German, and Spanish books that I saw. I couldn't see the entire store because there was an international conference on JRR Tolkien's languages going on. As in Elvish etc. But I did get to see the pool table (5 euros an hour), foosball, the snake, a model of Helsinki made of transformer parts, etc. etc. They were very helpful and went back to the warehouse to get a box of books that I wanted. They have programs on every night with concerts, lectures, etc. I highly highly recommend making a stop here!

I'm a Coachella music festival-aholic so when I missed this year's Coachella due to being in…read moreFinland, I decided to treat myself to some Flow Festival tickets instead. I went both Saturday and Sunday. Was OK. I'm trying hard not to compare it to Coachella, which is in the sunny desert in Indio, CA and has a whole bunch of loud Americans, but it's hard not to. The vibe is completely different. Again, this is Finland, so a bit silent during some of the acts. I felt like a crazy person cheering for Feist as everyone else around me were just nodding their heads to the music and clapping politely. Every loud cheer invoked at least one bewildered look from somebody.. like "who is this loud obnoxious person?". LOL It was pretty easy to navigate through the place. The "Black Tent" had a black tent, literally. Nokia blue tent had a blue tent, etc. They also had big balloons with the name of the place above areas like WC so was easy to find them even later at night. I loved seeing Feist, Bjork, The War on Drugs, St Vincent, Ane Brun and other bands but wasn't too impressed by the line-up. It seemed like last year, much bigger bands were touring so that line-up was kick-ass and would have been much more bang for my buck. Also, the crowd control was non-existent. Seemed like they just sold as many tickets as possible without a thought to how many people can fit and what's comfortable. Sunday was the worst whereas Saturday was pretty empty comparatively. As for the food: The Vegemesta stand had AMAZING veggie burgers. By amazing, I mean probably in the top 3 veggie burgers I've ever tasted in my entire lifetime. I literally had a mouthgasm eating it. Later, on Sunday (when there seemed to be 3x the people there were on Saturday), the line to get one was ridiculous so I tried the Shanghai Cowboy (Mexican food - go figure. Wouldn't have guessed by the name. lol) which was alright - I had the cheese party plate. My friends had sushi at Kabuki which they loved. All in all, it was enjoyable but if you're like me and love crazy rambunctious music festivals, don't get your expectations too high. Flow Festival holds true to their name - it's just a zen experience really. Wow. Long review. Hats off to you if you read it all ;)

This is the best circus in Finland, always have a great show and atmosphere. Real good old times…read morecircus and chancing talented performances every year. Artists across the world come to perform and sometimes there's also amazing performances with horses, dogs, cats, doves and parrots. They also have some snacks and memorables for purchase, and have heating so it doesn't get too cold, and booster seats for younger audiences. Often you also get to ride the circus horses after the show. Absolutely lovely and warm hearted circus to attend.

Very unique church with excellent acoustics and 360 degree lighting from the slit windows in the…read moreceiling. We happened to arrive when a contemporary concern was in process. The artists used historical instruments combined with classical base and piano for a fascinating performant that reminded me of a forest walk in the rain.

This place looks beautiful and interesting from the inside but they do charge you an admission fee…read moreto go inside. There's not a lot to do inside honestly since it's a functioning church. You can soak in the atmosphere for like 10 minutes and then you should be good to go. The walk to the church was quite steep at parts so keep that in mind, especially during the winter season when there's snow and rocks on the ground.
