For May 2014, we took the family out to Rome. After eating at multiple Italian restaurants, we wanted a change of pace and try some chinese. Wow, did we find one. This place is a hidden Gem. Per conversation with the chef, it has only been open for about 2 months.
Service - Excellent! It is rare that a chinese restaurant has excellent service. However, at Lin's, his staff was very attentive to our needs - kept waters filled and repeatedly checked to ensure that we were okay. We had a table of 13 people.
Food - Excellent Excellent Excellent. Of all things Rome, I can not believe that one of my favorite restaurants in Italy is a Chinese restaurant. Funny thing, the starter only has like 5 items on the menu and the entrees had only 6 or so. Unlike other chinese restaurants, they kept it simple. Thank god!
Here is what we ordered - note: everything that we ordered was fabulous and we ordered almost every dish:
1. Everyone had fried rice. It was okay. Eggs cooked with rice and fish sauce. It was the base to allow us to add the side items.
2. Rambo Fish - amazing. It is a grilled Flounder. It is fillet and the meat is stacked on top. Absolutely tender and delicious. Unbelievable.
3. Grilled Prawns - Great!! 5 large shrimps cooked in some type of sweet sauce. I want to say tamarind, but it was awesome
4. Scallops -- Again, they knocked it out of the ball park. It was cooked to perfection. Not undercooked or over cooked. With lots of salty flavors
5. Grilled Steak -- Again, this was out of the world. It had the right mixture of soy sauce and cooked to perfection.
6. Beef stew - my mom makes this at home. And, he makes it better than her! I could not believe it. It was so tender. Literally, the meat melted in your mouth. If I could recommend something to the chef, I would ask that he boil and egg and add it to the stew. The egg adds another dimension.
7. Fettucine with seafood - this was the only average dish. Honestly, it was okay
8. Tuna Tartar -- My wife loved this dish. She ordered two.
For desserts, half the table had sesame green tea and the other half had regular green tea.
After eating here on Tuesday evening, we decided to return for our FINAL meal in Rome on Friday. It was that good.
This is a definite place to dine within Rome and I highly recommend it. I wish I can give a higher rating than a 5 star for both service and food.
It was amazing here!!! And, we truly recommend this place. read more
