First thing I had noticed was the interesting choice of dried spices it was topped off with, and while it cut pretty easy it definitely was on the chewy side and had this weird fishy after taste (almost as if they cooked a fish on the same pan they cooked my steak). For sides, a mac n cheese and a side of green beans all to share. Mac n cheese a bit on the soupy side... meh, nice try. Green beans... definitely not so fresh. Service... One dude manning the entire place it seemed. He was the one who greeted us and waited our table. While service at any dine in restaurant in Germany in general is pretty slow, for all I know it could've been our waiter cooking the steaks himself as he was literally the only person I noticed working in the entire establishment. Anyways, not sure I got much else for ya. They do have English menus available here, but prices are not up to date so you have to refer to the regular menu in German to try and figure it out. Next time, though, I will probably order the filet and probably medium well instead of medium. Not only for the price, but in general, a very angenehme experience. We will be back soon to try out different cuts of meat and for sure leave the salad (and possibly sauce) out of the picture. Two people, two 500 gram steaks, five sides and two drinks plus two sauces came out to just over EUR40. You get a better steak at Blockhouse, sure, but San Diego didn't seem to want to kick us out of our seats the second we were finished, unlike some more upscale places. The situation of the restaurant is also very scenic and relaxing. We were greeted as we entered and bid adieu as we left; we felt very welcome and comfortable there. They accommodated two vegans in our party and we were 15 minutes late to our reservation at 7:30 due to traffic and the restaurant waited for us before they served the entire restaurant !!! So hospitable and gentle, the view was great for the fireworks and the spree river made the ambiance feel calming. The food itself may not have been the most "WOWing" but it was a set menu nonetheless and i ate my plate clean! :) I thought the waiters were so amazing and hilarious, I wouldn't mind coming again :)

Being a non-native speaker, never once was I uncomfortable in seeking the advice of the knowledgable staff who readily offered assistance in understanding the complexity of their vast and unique menu, infusing traditional German cuisine with Pan-Asian flare for some of their entree's. A relaxed atmosphere, unobtrusive dedicated staff and attention to detail provided an evening of discovery and brilliance, deviating from the more than traditional experiences I have had in at some 5 star restaurants. Prices for pasta are around 8-10€, but the serving sizes are very big. Inside is too warm, but know this going in for the future. On a Friday, call ahead for reservations as this place will fill up on a weekend night. And what a nice find it was! The place is indeed a local gem. A seafood ship restaurant on the banks of the Havel - the oldest one in Berlin for that matter - and needless to say the view is breathtaking. First of all, the restaurant has a GREAT outdoor seating area, but as it was a weekend and we arrived without prior notice, we couldn't unfortunately find ourselves a place outside. However, we were still able to find a free table in the ship's upper deck, and nevertheless we could still enjoy a spectacular view. Now, I have to admit I am not really big on seafood (strange, I know), so I went for the risk-free Salmon dish, while both my friends ordered the Fischplatte Skipperteller which is a dish containing three types of fish plus some seasoned grilled shrimps. My salmon was just OK, but I could tell that my friends enjoyed their dishes immensely. Service is very friendly. Unfortunately they don't speak much English, but were still pretty helpful while we were struggling with our broken German. One negative point though was that our orders did arrive pretty late, some people came much later than us yet received their orders first; but with a location that great, who cares if one stays a bit longer :) I totally recommend the place, if not for the food then for the view and atmosphere. It's a great place to go to, whether for a date, a family, a gathering, or even just to chill with some friends. Be sure to make a reservation; especially on weekends, as the place is usually packed.
