Expecting to come here and find your usual pub which serves cheap and cheerful food, I was surprised to find a very well presented, almost posh looking pub with a huge beer garden, medium sized pond which is home to some ducks and inside was just as good. The interior of the pub is quite charming with the wooden beams exposed and the place felt cosy and warm. It isn't huge on the inside but felt that it was laid out well and wasn't over-crowded and it's nice that the furnishings are quite modern. I had difficulty deciding what to have from the menu, although there isn't a great deal of choice on it, what was there sounded nice. I settled with calamari for starters as it's one of my favourites and chicken skewers for the main course. Calamari was okay, it wasn't the best I've had. I felt that the pieces were a bit small and there wasn't many pieces. My fella had the hot wings for starters but said that they weren't hot at all and didn't live up to the name or expectations, if anything, he said that they may have been a bit overcooked. My chicken skewers, on the other hand, were delicious! The main courses all came out big and thus, made up for the tiny portions for our starters. The chicken, courgette and peppers were cooked perfectly but I don't remember there being courgette mentioned on the menu when I ordered it, I think it was supposed to be onions instead. It doesn't really matter to me as I like both. On the side was some coleslaw and sweet chilli dip. It come with a lot of chips and pita bread. Needless to say, it was far too much and even though I was stuffed I just wanted to carry on eating because it was so nice. Two others on the table had the lamb shank and said that it tasted amazing, the other person had the fillet of steak and chips but everyone liked their mains and commented that they were presented well too. For dessert, I ordered the creme brulee which came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and red berry compote and can't grumble at all, it was decent. Two others had dessert and said that the dessert tasted good but they could have done with having a bit more of it as the portion came up quite small. The waitress was friendly and the place wasn't loud, so it was a relaxed atmosphere. Cocktails were also yummy and fairly cheap too! I got two of the strawberry daiquiri's (which I can never properly pronounce). They went down far too smoothly and easily and actually tasted more like those Munch Bunch drinky yoghurts. Overall, a good experience and would like to come here on a warm sunny day to enjoy the garden.

Proper greasy spoon run by a bunch of friendly Greek/Turkish folk, I forget which, who call everybody 'Boss' (good for those down days). Food is typical cafe food but at student friendly prices. No matter what time of year I go in there always seem to be a few of the same people in there who I have assigned new names. In a loving way of course. Transitioning Michael Jackson (white but still afroed but female) and pre 3rd nose job Cher for example. Despite appearances of the place and the low prices the food is quite nice and does the job. The decor reminds me of My Big Fat Greek Wedding with elaborate landscapes painted on the wall alongside huge mirrors. Still, it's nice. See you next Xmas dear Rumpy.

We had a delightful waitress who served us excellent food -- very good vallue for money. We both enjoyed it. We also had an interesting chat with another employee about the music - piped from Kiss FM .. not exactly suitable given the demographic of the customers; it was good natured and interesting. However, the background to the two-star rating comes from our encounter with the younger (male) employee who was at the paying-in section near the door. He showed an absolutely appalling lack of manners, chatting away on his mobile phone and taking in money, one-handed. He called female customers 'Darlin'' as though he had an entitlement, but offered no eye-contact, treating customers as though they weren't really there. He was utterly charmless, and displayed a truly out-of-control aggression when he was asked not to use that manner of address. His bad-tempered reaction led me to also mention his rudeness using the phone instead of giving customers his attention. He 'went ballistic' I think the phrase is, and you could see the whites of his eyes turn red! He said he would say what he liked and that he was a cockney..... impossible as he wasn't even born in this country and his accent of origin was very obvious. He began repeating 'Darlin darlin darlin -- as if to provoke and we wondered if he would become physical.. I even activated my mobile phone in my pocket ready to film this deeply unpleasant young man if he had. As it is, I have an aural recording of what took place. I notice another review which says it is 'friendly'.. Indeed it is, but not by this repugnant individual. He was an exception. A young man who has a lot to learn because he has no idea how to conduct himself. He has anger issues which need to be dealt with. Perhaps an older employee could take him aside? What a shame that we can't give The Rumpy a higher rating. Tip: Deal with this person as he lets the place down. It's also safer as a rule to use the more polite forms of address rather than a poorly-understood form which they may have heard in the street. Those informal names don't always apply accross the board.

Families, couples, friends and who else not! Everyone's enjoying their favourite meals and choices from the Carvery and other choices from the Kitchen. They serve food in sumptuous quantities. For the carvery, you have choices of three plate sizes, in different prices and you will be served by their Carvery Staff of the day. Their regular menu has a variety of stuff to try from platters, starters, soups, pastas, burgers, salads and fries, even sweet potato fries (hmm.. i love them) Extremely helpful and wonderful staff. They have seating inside and outside (great for summer days). If you have kids, they have a nice play area outside, slides and things like that, which I'm sure the kids will love. They even hold parties. Beautiful pub to have your Sunday roast or to grab a pint anytime of the day. I go there at least once every week, mostly on weekends to have a quick brunch and I have never been disappointed. Food is also very good, I've uploaded a few pictures so you can take a look.
