    Hot honey pizza
    Gloria L.

This family-run sourdough pizza business operates out of their home kitchen and is one of my favorite hidden pizza spots in Torrance! What makes their pizza special is the dough! They use a 3-day fermented sourdough starter with over 75% hydration and no commercial yeast, which makes the crust super airy, fluffy, light, and easier to digest without feeling heavy afterward. Even though it's sourdough, the flavor is really mild and balanced rather than overly tangy. They have a new menu item called the Risen Puff which is just the sourdough dough baked to perfection and paired with a creamy ricotta with honey dip. The texture is soo airy and fluffy and delicious and a must get if you just want the soft, fluffy dough. For their pizzas they have a variety of toppings and flavors and I love every single one of them! The BBQ Chicken pizza has a great combination of barbecue sauce, grilled chicken, fresh mozzarella, and pickled red onions giv the perfect sweet, tangy, and smoky flavor balance. I love their simple margherita pizza since I love the taste of basil with the mozzarella and tomato sauce. I also really enjoyed the Pesto Chicken because the basil pesto flavor paired so well with the grilled chicken and mozzarella, making it super savory and flavorful. The Hot Honey pizza had the perfect sweet and spicy combo, and if you love pineapple on pizza, definitely try the Hawaiian because the sweet pineapple and savory ham worked so well together. Everything tasted super fresh and you can really tell a lot of care goes into every pizza. The pizzas are also super affordable at around $11-12 each, which makes this spot even better. They offer preorder pickup on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays between 5-6:25 PM, and since they only make a limited number each day, definitely order ahead!

Listen...just order it. I don't want to spend time writing a lengthy review to make a simple point: this is pretty great pizza. You and your stomach will be happy doing it. Do it for your tummy

I love to eat food from local places, especially home kitchens that have the potential to open their own restaurants. If you are a pizza fan, you have to try Risen. The bread they use in their pizza is sourdough, making each bite feel light. My husband and I ordered their Hot Honey and Chicken Pesto. Each pizza had the perfect balance of toppings to sauce ratio. Before we knew it, we had already finished both boxes! It's rare for us to eat pizza these days, but because of Risen, we are bound to make it a weekly habit.

Delicious pizzas from this microenterprise home kitchen operation. Dough is pillowy with a wonderful chew; flavorful sauce and toppings and doesn't feel too heavy. Reasonable-priced and quality fare from this local business.

Fresh and tasty. Perfect amount of tang for me from the sourdough but my husband wanted more funk. Reasonably priced for the size given. Pizzas were ready at the time specified when I ordered, very timely. Would get again when I'm in the mood for Neapolitan!

Ordered the BBQ chicken pizza today-- it was soooooo good. The crust is amazing- sourdough and light and chewy. The toppings combo was good- fresh mozzarella, pickled red onions, bbq sauce and chicken. It was a nice size too, and I probably could have eaten the entire thing myself (but I shared with my fam haha). Small business run out of their house-- ordering and pick up was easy. Will def be back to try some of their other pizzas!

Risen Pizza is our favorite! The location is super convenient, and the quality of the food truly stands out. You can taste the difference with their homemade sourdough crust--it's fresh, flavorful, and perfectly done. As a busy mom I love that I can order online and it was ready just in time for dinner! We tried the BBQ chicken and margherita pizzas, and both were incredible. The flavors were spot on, and everything tasted so thoughtfully made. Even our kids couldn't get enough, which says a lot! We'll definitely be coming back soon. Can't wait to try more from their menu next time!

We tried risen last night and was very impressed. Two pizzas easily filled my wife and I so it's an excellent value. The pizza crust was great. There is some crunch but also the right amount of chewy. The ingredients tasted very fresh. For those with little kids our 2 year old loved it as well. I would highly recommend trying it out if you're in the area.

Incredible artisanal sourdough pizza. Made with high quality ingredients, fresh and locally by a small family business. Each pie is made with care and love by the owner, Victor. A must-try if you are in the South Bay! Support local businesses!

I always judge a new pizza spot by the classics, and Risen nailed it. The sourdough crust was perfectly fluffy, the tomato-to-cheese ratio was spot on, and pickup was quick and easy. Not to mention the price point makes it dangerously easy to keep coming back for more...Definitely ordering from here again for the next picnic! The owners came out to thank us too! So kind!!

Risen pizzas are delicious! Their pizzas are classic Neapolitan style, but they have a great sourdough crust that's thin, light, and has just the right amount of chew. I especially like that they use high-quality ingredients and keep things simple. I'm a big fan of the Margherita for its simplicity, and the hot honey pizza is a great option if you want something with a little more kick. Definitely worth checking out.

We've had the sourdough pizzas from Risen a handful of times now, and it never disappoints! The pizzas are limited batch sourdough, and I normally don't like the crust, but I LOVED every part of these pizzas! The texture of the dough is amazing and the balance between dough and toppings is perfection. We've had all of the options and love them all - hard to pick just 1 favorite! The family making the pizza is the sweetest and you can tell that each pizza is made with so much love. They make pick up so easy and a pleasant experience!

Marg pizza for the kids! They absolutely loved it

Listen- I'm not someone who really writes reviews, but I came to dust off my yelp account to write one cause it's THAT good!! You can taste high quality ingredients, crust perfectly chewy, sooo many tasty toppings (we tried pesto, marg, BBQ chicken- pesto was my fave!) Not greasy, I actually felt good about feeding the pies to my little ones. Will definitely be back for more!

I imagine we eat here at least once every 6 weeks, sometimes that is dine-in, sometimes take-out. Ingredients are fresh, pizza is delicious. Chris and the rest of the staff are always polite and on top of it. We recommend: - Thyme & Roasted Mushroom Pizza, add the Fennel Sausage - Eggplant Rollatini - Mediterranean Salad Locale 90 is consistently excellent. Apologies for taking this long to write a review, keep up the good work!

Walking into an almost completely empty dining room while seemingly every restaurant around it was busy gave me pause, but sometimes an empty restaurant is simply good timing. We sat down hoping that was the case. There is real care behind the ingredients here. The pizza is built from the right vocabulary. 00 flour, San Marzano tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, good olive oil and you can taste that somebody has made deliberate choices about what belongs on it. I ordered the Margherita and added mushrooms, which turned out to be a great addition. The mushrooms were excellent, the tomato had real flavor and the blistering from the oven gave it that irregular handmade character you want from this kind of pizza. The proportions just didn't quite work for me. There was so much crust relative to what was happening in the center that eventually the crust became the meal. Some of the char crossed pretty decisively into black, which I can live with from a very hot oven, but the Margherita also felt strangely stingy on cheese. When the dough is already carrying that much weight, you need enough happening on top to meet it halfway. By the end I was dipping the leftover crust into the ravioli sauce simply to give it something to do. That ravioli, incidentally, was excellent. Easily the best thing we ordered. Tender, comforting, with a tomato sauce good enough that we deliberately saved what was left. The kids demolished it, which is generally a more honest review than anything I can write. The Caesar was the disappointment. There were beautiful whole anchovies on top which I loved and wish more places had the nerve to serve but the salad itself was absolutely drowned. The dressing was so aggressive and heavy that the lettuce had already surrendered by the time it reached us. Soggy, over dressed, oxidized brown parts in the lettuce and far more intense than it needed to be. I didn't have the heart to send it back because nothing was technically "wrong" with it. It was just a good collection of ingredients that had been smothered into submission. Service had a similar problem. Nothing overtly bad, but very little warmth. The new hostess was clearly being trained, so no criticism there. The main service felt more transactional than hospitable. Order, check-in, dessert, check, moving us through the sequence efficiently without ever making the meal feel particularly cared for. The wine recommendation was genuinely good, requests were handled and nobody was rude. It simply felt generic. The space itself is pleasant, especially with the coastal air coming through and there is clearly ability in the kitchen. That is probably what makes the experience harder to rate. This isn't a bad restaurant. There were flashes of something very good here. When the meal was over, the ravioli was still the thing I kept thinking about. There is enough quality here that I wouldn't write Locale90 off and I'd come back hoping some of the smaller things. The balance of the pizza, the Caesar and a little more warmth in the service land differently next time. Three stars, for me, doesn't mean bad. It means there is something good here that hasn't quite come together yet. The ingredients are there. Some of the cooking absolutely is too. I hope they take the criticism in the spirit it's intended, because with a few adjustments this could easily become a place I'm excited to return to rather than one I'm still trying to figure out.

I ordered the truffle mushroom pizza and it was absolutely phenomenal. The crust was perfectly crisp on the outside while still light and airy inside. The truffle flavor was rich without being overpowering, and the mushrooms were fresh and perfectly cooked. Every bite tasted balanced and authentic, like the kind of pizza you hope to find in a small Italian spot that truly cares about the craft. Then came the Nutella calzone, and that alone is worth the visit. Warm, perfectly baked dough with Nutella inside that melts just right. Sweet, indulgent, and honestly one of the best dessert calzones I have ever had. Also the best and most polite service, wonderful people.
