I called over a month ago to get an appointment and waited very patiently for my appointment. I was called one day in advance to be told that I would not longer have the appointment because someone else was being seen at my time. I was referred to RISE after an appointment with a doctor at San Diego Sports Medicine and let me tell you, I lucked out! I scheduled my first appointment with Lauren and she has been AMAZING! I strained my hamstring/ glute/ abductor in November (due to a 50 mile bike ride) and didn't start the rehab {{cough cough stubborn runner cough cough}} until the end of March. I saw Lauren twice a week for a few months and had a drastic improvement thanks to the suggested stretches and exercises. I'm currently training for a 100-miler (running race) and I thank Lauren for getting me to the starting (and hopefully finish) line healthy! read more

Just called Rise and they can't see me for my shoulder pain for TWO months. The person I spoke with, May, was uncaring and could offer no referrals to anyone who could treat me sooner. She was working from home, and I could hear roosters crowing in the background. Rise used to be the best, but they have become an uncaring and unprofessional business. read more

I've been having appointments with Rise PT for 8 months now! I see Emily and she is amazing! She is great at listening to the specific problems I'm having and coming up with strategies to help reduce pain or make the movement more functional. I've been seeing her pre-op, post-op and will be returning post-op for my next surgery as well. As long as you schedule ahead there is lots of availability, all of the staff I've met have been respectful and helpful. read more

Thanks to Claire I am able to walk again without pain. I had been suffering with plantar fasciitis for almost 2 years before finding Claire. She took me through a series of exercises twice a week. Care Quality In December of 2022, my orthopedic surgeon from North Count Orthopedics decided that I needed therapy for my torn ligaments, and muscles associated with a torn rotator cuff, in my right shoulder. NC Ortho set me up to go to North County Ortho Therapy, when I went there the desk clerk told me they did have any space open until February, I drove directly to Rise Therapy in Oceanside where my wife had been a patient for her legs and low back. Luckily for me I got to see Darren Mallinson, who told me that if I could get a referral from my Dr., he could start therapy for me that next Monday, I contacted my Dr. and a referral was sent that afternoon, I have been seeing Darren for therapy for different problems for several months now for different age related problems, currently a very poor posture problem, which I got a referral for that from my family Dr., The thing I want to note best about Darren Mallinson, is that he probably saved my live. One day this past summer I showed up for therapy and he noticed that I did not look very good and he asked me how I felt , and my response was I did not feel very good, Darren stopped what he was doing and took my blood pressure which was extremely high for me, we waited a few minutes and he took it again and it was even higher, Darren recommended that I go the closest ER. To end this post, a few days later November 8th to be exact my cardiologist placed a stent into an artery that was 90 % closed. I have received PT services for over 40 years due to a myriad of problems that began with a fractured ankle. With continued overuse of joints and body misalignment, I continued to be in need of PT. I have had 6 PTs in 4 different states and have worked with PTs in my professional career. I know what to look for. RISE Physical Therapy in Oceanside is exceptional. What sets them apart from other PT offices is their model of only working with a Registered Physical Therapist (RPT) for the full treatment period. I've been to other great PTs, but they spend 25-30 minutes with a patient, then you are handed off to a PT Assistant. Some models even have patients with the PTA only between the evaluation appointments. NOT at RISE! At all RISE offices patients are with an RPT for the full time. My latest 2 PT treatment focuses have been around a knee replacement and balance. These are 2 very different treatment plans, but both plans incorporate stretching, table work, exercises to achieve functional activities. I have worked with all the PTs in the office and they are talented, profesional, caring. My current issue is not straight-forward and my PT is working with me to find all the underlying causes and target them for treatment. My PT doesn't just want me to "graduate" with basic daily living skills, but he cares about the quality of my life and my being able to do more than what's "functional". He is working with me toward a more active and rewarding life. I recommend RISE to anyone wanting to achieve their optimal quality of life. read more

I was having some right shoulder pain and impingement due to my line of work. Claire immediately came up with some great solutions that actually felt like I was back working out in the gym. Over a few weeks my strength in my shoulder and arms grew tremendously so that I had a lot less pain and soreness after work. I came to receive PT services when I was unable to figure out what was wrong with my rib, and after chiropractic sessions didn't help resolve my pain or issue. I came to Rise Physical Therapy with lower back and neck pain. I expected to be given a lot of squats and such. I was actually give more stretching than tough exercises, which surprised me. After just a couple sessions with Lauren my pain was gone and I could see that my body was getting stronger. I've been active my whole life, but I still get anxious when I have other people assessing the way I move. I have had previous experiences with PTs who just made the whole experience awkward for me. However, Jess the physical therapist here, did not make me feel that way at all. She held a fun and a comforting demeanor during my whole session and found a way to make me feel like I wasn't moving in an awkward way. Over a year ago, I was in a car accident that caused me pain in my neck, shoulders, back and left knee. After a few months of chiropractic care, both my chiropractor and my pain-management doctor referred me to RISE Physical Therapy in March of this year. Since then, I have been working weekly with my therapist, Lauren Sugay. Lauren was highly recommended by my chiropractor, and now I know why. Lauren is awesome! I have seen and felt much improvement since my start with her. She is quite thoughtful when it comes to my care. At every session, I will let her know how my body feels and she is able to identify what is causing my pains, explains and shows me in detail why I am hurting and how my body is compensating for the pain, and patiently takes time to teach me exercises and techniques to re-train and strengthen my body from my injuries. She has made me feel safe and comfortable to communicate each and every soreness, tightness, and pulling pain I experience weekly. I trust her to even share my emotional frustrations with my aches. Prior to working with Lauren, I would deal with the pain by taking Tylenol or use a TENS device. These were temporary fixes, so the pains would come back. Her friendliness, patience, encouragement and knowledge has made helped me achieve the goals we have set. I learn something new at each visit thanks to her wealth of knowledge regarding new techniques and better option for my care, other than just popping a pill or using the TENS more than I should. Lauren is genuinely concerned about each of her patients and empathizes with their needs. She has taught me to be aware of how I handle my posture, movements, stress, and overall well-being. I leave each session a better person, feeling confident in the care I receive from Lauren. I am grateful to Lauren, and I would not be surprised if she is promoted to an upper management position in the near future. RISE Physical Therapy has incredible therapist, but my 5-star rating is mostly due to Lauren. I've had chronic knee pain for years secondary to ballet, martial arts, and most recently a patellar fracture. I've had multiple physical therapists, but none have treated me as thoroughly and as dedicatedly as JESS. She didn't just throw a bunch of exercises at me expecting me to master them after one session. JESS took the time to go over which exercises I was able to tolerate and even tailored them to my ability and lifestyle. I didn't leave my first session feeling discouraged or defeated--anyone dealing with chronic pain will appreciate that feeling. Instead, I felt a little bit empowered and quite a bit hopeful that I would return to an activity level acceptable for my age. It's been 6 months since my last physical therapy session with JESS, and I have absolutely zero residual knee pain (and quite frankly I wasn't expecting such a complete cure)!
