The service here was friendly and serving sizes proportional. We appreciate that they focus on flavor not just appearance. The lemon blueberry pancake special was delicious and a great choice. I was able to customize my omelette and choose between deep fried or skillet fried potatoes. The restaurant interior is well done and gives a fresh new look to the old diner feel

Twenty five minutes passed and we went inside to be told five more minutes. In total, we waited 45 minutes before we were seated. Becca, our server was friendly and turned around the extended wait. Beverages were delivered first, hot cocoa for me and coffee for he. I ordered the two two two and he a grilled cheese with tots. We divided brunch breakfast for me and lunch for he.I continue to hear about the extended wait as a couple who arrived after we waited in the vehicle parked next to us and were seated right after us. Did this overshadow brunch? Yes it did! The ambiance was highly effected with his concern of us being delayed seating. Initially sat at a table for seven and a booth opened up and we were able to utilize. We were both happy with our selections.

Walking through the restaurant was nice as the space was very large and the decor indoor was cozy and whimsical. Our server was nice throughout the meal. However, I did get a water glass that had marks on it that looked like someone just drank out of it and a crumb on the rim. I asked them if they could get me a clean cup and they ended up bringing the same one as the same mark and crumb were still there. For food, our table ordered a few items to share. We got: -CAULIFLOWER WINGS: The chutney/salsa on top of the fried cauliflower was nice and gave the item a little sour kick. However, the cauliflower itself was not cooked fully so not as soft as I wanted it to be. -SYRACUSE POUTINE: The appearance of the poutine was not the best. However, the gravy it came with was very flavorful and tasty. The potatoes themselves were not fried and were in wedge form but went well with the gravy. The small globs of melted cheese on top were a nice complement. -CAJUN SLIDERS: The slider compliments/sauce went well together but the sliders themselves had grill marks on it which gave a bitter bite to those parts of the slider. Additionally, the fried shrimp inside of the slider still had the tail on and so it was a bit of a surprise to bite into a full tail while eating a slider. All in all, a cute spot to see people but food had some hit or miss components.

The room was pretty much what we expected. The kitchen amenities were nice, bathrooms clean, beds comfortable enough. We enjoyed the water park. (Separate review left on Cascades page) I do think it's a little misleading on the website and when you talk to the desk to schedule. It sounds like the lodge has a pool and hot tub. It does not have a separate one, guests use the one in the water park. So the day of arrival, we thought it would be relaxing to use the hot tub but it was way overcrowded. The hallways are LOUD. I know this is not due to anything the lodge staff are doing but more the other guests. Every night we were there we had kids running up and down the halls yelling late into night. I'm all for kids having fun but not waking up other sleeping littles past midnight. We even were "ding dong ditched" more than once each night. My other somewhat negative is we had a family stay package which included a pizza dinner and hot cocoa. The pizza was better than expected but we got the run around when trying to get the hot cocoa. We were told you had to get it at the Starbucks or the restaurant. The Starbucks was closed when the kids went to get it (8pm) and the restaurant refused, even though that's what the front desk said to do. Overall, if there was more clarity with what you were booking and receiving, someone enforcing some rules in the halls, and maybe longer restaurant and bar hours, this would have been a really great stay. We had a lot of fun. Just a lot of road bumps too.

Alongside the meats, we wanted to try their sides as well which consisted of mac and cheese, baked beans, corn bread, cole slaw and salt potatoes. For the brisket which we looked forward to the most, we found these to be drier than we would have liked. Paired with sauce, they were just okay. For the pulled pork, we found this to be phenomenal. Smoky and delicious all on its own. Definitely a highlight for us. For the bacon, we ordered 3 different kinds, and we found the flavors didn't really shine through. Although generously thick cut and cooked perfectly. The kielbasa was a bit of a letdown. We found these to be on the dry side, but the flavors were okay. For the sides, the mac and cheese we found the pasta to be a bit overcooked and overall, on the bland side. The baked beans tasted great, no complaints there. The corn bread wasn't anything special and neither were the salt potatoes. Although we did enjoy the salt potatoes and found they were exactly how they ought to be. The cole slaw was also on the bland side and tasted more of the fridge than any flavor. We've heard good things about their smoked wings which we had to try before leaving. We ordered a 5-piece with their spicy Asian sauce. The wings were delicious, the smokiness flavor penetrated throughout the entire wing, but the sauce was very salty which took away from the natural delicious taste of the smoked wings. Overall, a good experience which some seasoning issues but would revisit if we were back in the area.

First, the cafe itself is clean, bright, and welcoming. It has a pleasant interior where you place and pay for your order and then received a numbered sign. Second, it has a large, free parking lot (associated with Generations Bancorp of NY) which is super-convenient for drivers. Third, the breakfast sandwich was delicious. My wife particularly enjoyed her omelette with fresh locally-grown tomatoes and avocado. Fourth, the regular brewed coffee here is phenomenal. Overall, I would strongly recommend Cafe XIX for Saturday brunch just before visiting the Women's Rights NHP museum. As an added bonus, you can walk across the street from the parking lot and see the Ripples of Change outdoor sculpture of four women, including Harriet Tubman and Sojourner Truth with a lovely background across the lake.
