Bobby did this! He's the best!
D H.

Go see Bobby! This was my first tat. He was so patient and kind with me. He drew my panda tat free hand and exactly how I wanted it! He is amazingly talented! Thank you BOBBY for making a dream come true for me!!

An amazing local tattoo shop with super talented artists. Came here today to get something little done on my leg. Most of the time they require you to have a set appointment with your specific artist but on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday they offer walk ins from 12-8pm. That being said if you are there for a walk-in spot make sure you get there early so that you are more likely to get seen. We were there 5 mins before opening and we were already 5th in line to give u guys a good idea. We had Shane work on our tattoos and he was super professional and patient with us. He made sure that the tattoo was exactly what we wanted and the tattoo turned out even better then what we originally had in mind. I definitely recommend this shop for whoever is looking to get there next piece done! Be aware though to only park in the spots that is specifically labeled for the tattoo shop or park on the street because they do tow.

**Artist: Aaron Murray The talent and artistry is there. I found it hard to get into contact with the artist. Finally, I established a date and was given a quote of $60 to $80 (face to face). My friend received her tattoo it took 30 minutes tops and was a little larger than a quarter I then received my tattoo (same.) He then told us it would be $100 each. I didn't leave a tip and called it even. I find it hard to believe 30 minutes for each tattoo was worth $100 for each of us. Especially considering his quote. I felt taken advantage of. I even had another appointment scheduled for a different piece of work. I briefly discussed my concept and he seemed disinterested. I felt like he was patronizing me. I love the work of the artist but I can't bring myself to trust him with another piece of permanent artwork. It's very disappointing to see someone so talented be so shady. Update: after being confronted about the situation he lied to my husband and myself. When I was given the initial quote he NEVER mentioned a house minimum and when I came in for my tattoo 11/28 he never told me they had changed the house minimum. After my tattoo he NEVER mentioned a touch up of any kind. He took my next scheduled tattoo off his calendar which is truly a relief. Watch out for this one.

Got this thanks to Aaron! I

I've come here twice now for tattoos, both with Aaron who I highly recommend. All the artists at Rise Above are talented and professional. I had a hard time choosing an artist based on their work before deciding to work with Aaron. As for my actual experiences here, I cannot recommend this place enough, especially for your first tattoo. I came in for consultations and to secure my appointment both times before actually coming in for my appointment. The first time I came in everyone was so friendly and made me feel really comfortable. I love the work Aaron has done and have recommended him to my friends. I have plans to come back soon for some more work! Appointments and walk ins :)

I highly recommend this shop!! The artists are friendly and have brilliant pieces. I went to Shane for a thigh piece and have already rebooked a second. His work is precise, clean, and he really listened to everything I wanted. The best artist with this style I've seen in Florida, I can't wait to go back again.

Me and the boyfriend decided randomly to head down to Orlando and go to Disney for the day this past weekend. When we woke up Saturday morning, we had realized that Disney was packed so we decided hey, let's just get tattoos instead. Because that's totally a reasonable alternative, right? Well anyways, I started looking at Yelp to find a good tattoo shop pretty last minute. I had suggested going to Hart and Huntington but then I realized I didn't want to spend my life savings on one tattoo (my point is is that they're crazy expensive). Then I saw how awesomely rated Rise Above was. I checked the website to make sure they took walk-ins, and they did! So we waited for 2 o'clock to come around (that's what time they had listed for when they open). We walked fully expecting to be turned away due to no availability, especially since both of were wanting work done. But to my surprise we were told that Von (Vaughn? idk the spelling) could take both of us around 4. So we emailed him what we both wanted and the wait began. When we showed up to get them done, he had shown us what he drew up and I was so thoroughly impressed. It was exactly what I pictured and it looked very clean. I'll wrap this up now because it's getting too long. Basically, me and my boyfriend both agreed that this will be our go to shop from now on (but we'll book an appointment next time, walk-in slots seem to fill up fast). Von/Vaughn did an amazing job and he was pretty cool throughout the whole process. I think we got more than what we paid for and it was a great experience. I definitely recommend this place if you're looking for great artists who put out amazing work.

Elizabeth F is right. This place is 5 stars for Scott White alone. Scott has done four of my tattoos, one being custom. I walked in with an idea and he drew it quickly, precisely and edited until I was completely happy. Good thing since it's a life decision =) What I really appreciate about Scott is the love he has for the art and he's not afraid to tell you if something won't work or is stupid and will suggest, based on his expertise, tips on improvement. He takes pride in each piece. He is also a local artist, all of his work is fabulous. He does colors brilliantly as well. So happy he is at this location now and it's his baby. True art work is done here and if you want to stop in and see their work, please do so. Scott is appointment only though so make sure to call ahead or stop in before you want the actual work done.

Outside sleeve ink (Enigma music group design)
Greg S.

At long last, I decided to go for my first sleeve. And I entered into that with a handicap........I had a specific idea, and wanted help to make it a reality. I've been to plenty of shops in my day and I really enjoyed the honesty I got when asking about my idea. They pretty much said, prior to looking at the design inspiration, whether or not they'd be able to do it or not, and that was great. Some people are all about the almighty dollar, and others just strive to create good work, and if they don't feel like they could do it, then them telling me that up front is huge in my book. That being said, my all time favorite group growing up was Enigma, so I wanted a sleeve showcasing their design work from their albums. And it has been great seeing that translate into a sleeve. And it was all due to the imagination of my artist. I simply handed over the CD liner notes from a couple of the albums, and the rest was history. Since technically I've finished my 2nd of 3 sessions, I'm not done, but this review is warranted, even before attending the final one. If you want good work, go here. If there is a wait..........there is a very very good reason for it.

Walking in you'll see clean, organized artwork and workstations. Creative inside :)

When it comes to getting ink, there are many decisions that need to be made. Finding an artist, finding their location, and evaluating if the place is clean and professional. When you're new to the area, looking for an artist can be tricky - but thank goodness for social media! Through word of mouth, checking Yelp, Facebook and reviewing photos on Instagram, I was able to meet up wtih Steve Roberts at Rise Above. When I first talkd with him, he asked me important questions about my concept of an abstract pocket watch. (His question, abstract mean different things to different people) He provided me his instagram so I could review some of his work, and that was when I knew he was the guy to do the work for me. I stopped in to meet with him and it consisted of reviewing my concept, him evaluating the ink area and collecting the size, and scheduling the appt. and collecting the deposit. But, what was most impressive walking in was how clean and open the entire facility looked like. Pictures hung on the wall, photo albums and books with each artists designs were neatly setup in the front and easily accessible for people to look through, and a unique ambiance to set an artistic mood. I'm excited to come back to finish up the rest of my artwork. :)

Absolutely obsessed with my tattoo done by Jessica. I get compliments all the time on it. She's so nice and the shop is very clean and i will definitely be back here for any future tattoos!

Geisha portrait that Joe Spino did at Rise Above tattoo
Michelle S.

Joe Spino is the only tattoo artist I'll let work on me now. He's amazing. Japanese art, portrait work that is PERFECT, incredible nature art.... he's just hands down the best. If he leaves... I won't like Rise Above anymore. Just kidding. ;-)

Blown away by the piece got done last Sunday by Damion! Walked in very new to tattoo shops and everyone in the building was extremely friendly and nice! He answered all my questions and honestly could not be happier with the final product and experience can't wait to come back!

Thank you Scott L for my beautiful fairy face lift. I appreciate you and making a 15 year old tattoo new again!
Jodi G.

Thank you Scott L for reviving an old tattoo. You have made her new & amazing again!

Lorn and I had been to this venue for the Yelpie awards and decided to return as we were impressed with the artwork the first time we came. Third Thursdays is a free event each month and it displays the works of various artists. Also, if you park at the Plaza parking lot on Court Avenue just a few blocks away, your parking ticket is validated, and you only pay $4. We got there around 6:30pm and the place was already packed. We got a drink at the cafe and a shout out to Miles for being a fun server and a good conversationist. We then proceeded to see all the art displays from photography to paintings to ink drawings. The main floor is much roomier as the second floor was quite crowded and tight given the separate rooms for the displays. But we still enjoyed ourselves and got to see the work of Lorn's friend, Grace Garvey, as well as other artists. The second floor's main room was dedicated to "Black & White" artist renderings and many of the displays were quite intriguing. The main floor had some excellent concert photographs that exuded the energy and passion of the performers as well as the crowds. This is definitely a fun free event to attend in downtown Orlando.

They had a great selection of art, including art by teens and it is FREE so what a great value. We've decided we'd like to go every so often to keep up with the displays.

For those of you who don't want to assume, it is being literal. This is an evening full of nude art, music, body painting, and shows. This national art exhibit has been happening for the last 15 years which surprised me that there was no Yelp reviews on it yet for the Orlando area. I am a huge art enthusiast and love attending exhibits like these because they are never disappointing. This Venue, which use to be Haos on Church was very large, and had a wonderful selection of drinks, and even served food. Menu was small but all the options looked and smelt amazing. The portions are also small so recommend eating before arriving. Needless to say I fell in love with so many pieces of art, and naturally I bought something. Oh yes, most of the art is on sale. It all goes to an art charity which is used to promote art. Highly recommend attending for all art enthusiasts, and even if you're not really into art it's still a great time.

I'm sorry to say I was deeply disappointed. There was some very nice art, price was double what it would likely be elsewhere. I imagine a percentage goes to the event. I felt bad for the artists. There was not a bit of live entertainment that was well done or creative, nothing I hadn't seen years ago. The $40 ticket was crazy based on what they presented or shall I say lacked to present. There was some art I would have bought if it was price realistically. I would not go back to the Orlando event again I might try St Pete. It was an underwhelming money maker for the production company, lackluster for the guests. If I were to guess I would say they can't get high quality performance because they're not wanting to pay the performers or performers don't want to be attached to an event that is not of their caliber.

Tip: If you don't come across a deal such as we did, it seems like they offer discounts code from their Facebook website, so check that out! On Easel Expression's website, there is a calendar of which art piece each class will teach and you're able to reserve the one you want. On some days they have 2 sessions - one in the afternoon and one in the evening. We chosen a evening one to attend with our group of 6 and they were easily able to accommodate us. In addition to our group, there were two other classmate that joined the class. The store is bright and inviting as you walk in and the girls there including the instructor was sarcastic yet fun and also very encouraging. Tables are pre set with a blank canvas and brushes on the table with a bowl of water to clean for your brushes. There is a table against the wall with a 'ingredients list' of the number of pumps you'll need of each color that is lined up in huge jugs. "2 pumps of blue, 3 pumps of black, 2 pumps of white..." Very easy to follow. We all also got to wear cute canvas aprons to look the part! The art of the night was 'Hoot Hoot' and it was the painting of an owl. The instructor said 3 hours long! However our group completed the mission in 2.5! Score! She was very patient and taught us tricks on how to blend to make the owl more lively. Also you can add your special touches to your own painting (i added smiley faces to my shoot stars! :)) This would be an awesome place for birthday parties for kids, date night, and for groups too! One thing I was unsure about, was gratuity. There was no tip jar and it seems like the store was the instructor so I'm not sure if thats why there was none. Maybe someone could elaborate on a future review. I would totally do it again!

We had a Living Social deal about to expire so my husband and I ended up doing a class here…read morerecently. It was packed to the gills which I wonder if it was because of the deal. Thankful we arrived a little early so we could get our pick of seats. (Tip- Don't sit in front of the table with paint or you will be scooting back and forth all night to accomodate people) It's located off Orange Avenue in a small little plaza of businesses next to Full Circle Yoga. If lot is full, you may have to park off street. As noted on our confirmation(we picked our painting and booked online), they urged us to arrive 10-15 early . Check in was simply letting them know our names and then we were free to pick our seating. The studio did all of the work for the painters. Art canvases were set up and already painted the background color for the painting(dark blue to miror a dark sky) and plates of paint were set up under each canvas along with brushes and a bowl of water to dip brushes. They don't sell alcohol but DO allow guests to bring their own bottles for a $5 corkage fee. They do sell soda and water as well as bags of chips. So I would recommend eating beforehand because you will be here approximately 3 hours. The actual class instruction was good. Our instructor was very on top of staying on schedule so that we didn't run late. This kind of instruction may not be best for everyone especially if you are new to these kinds of classes. She would try to give guests a few minutes to catch up but would move on. But obviously you work at your own pace. Unlike other painting classes I have been to, the instructor was the only one that could help and give suggestions. She walked around occasionally to check on paintings but she was definitely stretched thin especially with such a big class. The painting was all free hand for everyone so we all had to draw exactly what she would draw on her canvas. I'm pretty amazed how well our paintings turned out. I loved the music playing- some 2Cellos but all current hits but classical style. Very relaxing. At the end, they did a drawing for those who checked in on FB and/or liked their page and gave away a free class. This was probably one of the better painting classes I have been to. Would definitely checkout again with friends.
