Extremely Disappointed - A Beautiful Winery, but a Very Disturbing Experience After many years of wonderful visits to Ripples Winery, I'm extremely disappointed by how the owner handled a frightening incident involving her three farm dogs, which aggressively attacked both myself and my dog. What's even more upsetting is the owner's response, defending her dogs rather than taking full responsibility for what happened. Because of the seriousness of this incident, I felt forced to file a police report and a formal complaint with Abbotsford Animal Control/Bylaw Enforcement. During our visit, we spent over $400 purchasing products, and not even our $60 food bill was taken care of after such a frightening attack. Not a discount, not a gesture of goodwill, nothing. We weren't looking for anything free, but a little compassion and accountability would have gone a long way. What I find particularly disappointing is that instead of taking responsibility for her three dogs' behaviour, the owner has now announced that the winery is no longer dog-friendly. She also stated that this is simply part of doing business. In my opinion, changing your dog-friendly policy does not excuse what happened or replace taking responsibility for the incident. Good customer service isn't just about the good times. It's about how a business responds when something goes terribly wrong. It's incredibly sad because this is a beautiful establishment where we've made wonderful memories over the years. Unfortunately, after this experience and the owner's response, I no longer feel safe bringing my family or our dogs back. A truly disappointing ending to years of supporting this winery. read more

Beautiful venue and I really wanted to like this place, unfortunately everything fell short during our visit. I reserved a table via their website and still had to wait for about 10 minutes to be sat down. All tables were full, and the table we were led to was very hot and blinded by the sun. We asked the server once another table left if we could move to a table that has a sun umbrella and some decent shades, she said no because another party reserved it and had already arrived. I was confused and told her I also made a reservation, so how come another reserved party has higher priority than us. She then apologized and said she didn't know I had a reservation (even I told her from the get go), and eventually arranged us to move. We ordered drinks and snacks. My cocktail came rather promptly, but my husband waited for 45 minutes for his sparkling wine flight, and they gave him a wrong order of red wine flight. He had to wait another 15 minutes, so totally one bloody hour for the correct sparkling wine flight. We ordered the whipped feta with fig & blueberry compote, and after an hour long they came another wrong order, the whipped feta with baked peaches and pistachios. It tasted decent, but it was still the wrong order nonetheless. The server just kept on saying kitchen is super busy and servers are insanely exhausted today. She didn't even offer to give us the new correct dish, or do anything to make up for it. read more

I will say it the way I would have said it if I were not at my Nephew's wedding. I don't give a poop if you own the property, THAT WE RENTED FOR A PRIVATE Function. Don't walk in with your dogs off leash and then demand the people who just paid your rent put there small completely non aggressive emotional support animal on a leash. Hypocrisy comes to mind, nautzy Germany, and PRIVATE FUNCTION all words racing through my head as she makes her demand. I didn't get a chance to let her know her off leash dog followed my wife and my dog for over one hour completely stressing both them out. When he wouldn't leave and HAD NO ONE WATCHING THE DOG I myself walked the property questioning people about the dog and how we get the owner to respect our space and train her dog. So your house is beautiful lady it's pretty shiny made of glass and all. then to insinuate that I'm not going to clean up after my dog is absolutely uncalled for. I have the only dog, our family watches her like 200 hawks and people who don't pick up after their dog need to be leashed outside themselves. Honestly it was a nice event I was enjoying myself as a person who struggles with social anxiety it's nice to be in a crowd were I was comfortable. (Private family event) That changed when you decide to demand My dog is leashed putting me in a situation where now all eyes are on me. Thanks for ruining my experience from that point on was a long anxiety attack. If you are going to rent out a space for a private function in the future and you are so concerned the owners won't pick up after their dog don't allow pets if you don't trust the people. Was the place clean? Absolutely Was it a nice appealing atmosphere for such an occasion? I would have recommended the place over where I was married. Until I met the owner. So in short. If the owner showed as much grace and elegance as the property this would have easily been a 5 star rating. If you are curious how this one incident ruined a day please read on. As a person who struggles daily with social anxiety my emotional support animal is my world, allows me to enjoy events like this wedding. I love my kids but I don't treat them like I treat my dog. She is my daughter, my rock, and medicine allowing me to feel normal in public. My family members booked this place as a part of my bachelorette party early in the spring. When my future daughter in law booked the event, she informed the staff that it was a bachelorette party. The bride to be and the people were dressed for the event and when we arrived, we were told to remove all wedding related attire because there was a wedding happening and there could only be one bride. This dampened the spirit of the event and made everyone uncomfortable especially my future daughter in law. The wedding reception was not in the same vicinity so our opinion was that this was unnecessary AND in addition, my future daughter in law was not informed of this policy at the time of booking because if she was, we would have had our party elsewhere. ALSO, when we complained to the manager, she did not appear to care about the situation, and brushed us off as if we did not mattered. VERY BAD TASTE! read more

We've been to ripples estate winery many times including their special events. Never a disappointment. Such a beautiful venue, well cared for and great service. We recently visited their pub crawl, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Another special event was their drive-in which again was a unique experience and very enjoyable. Beware, you will fall in love with this place! I am so blown away by how amazing my experience was last night at Ripples. I came here on a Local Wandering tour and had never heard of them before so didn't know what to expect. Off the bat, the property was absolutely stunning. The decor was industrial yet romantic with a touch of grace. It was fancy but so fun! The gentlemen who gave us our wine and spirits tasting was so informative and helpful and all the staff were so happy and really loved their jobs which was refreshing! It's nice to be served some staff who have enthusiasm and love for their job and company so that was a bonus. The wines were incredible, I had so many favourites! Then we also tried the spirits, I loved all of them too! I ended up buying 4 of my fav bottles. Wow, New Wave distilling, if you haven't heard of them, be sure to go and try ALL of them! From the Brides Teams with gold flecks to the Mango Liquor, omg so amazing. Even the absinthe was delicious and fun to watch them make. Another bonus with this location is the wedding and event potential. I literally got goosebumps that this would be where I would want to get married, and I'm not even engaged! The secret garden with all the fish was stunning and it was so serene. I can't wait to go back for the Cabana party and so I can try some of these spirits in a cocktail format! Yippee! read more

Such a cute little place in the 'country'. Beautiful landscaping done in the garden area. I wouldn't consider it a typical winery, in fact we didn't even try the wine, only the cocktails, which they have in house made spirits. Would return for the kitten cuddles and the vibes. read more

They're only getting one star for the garden that is nice. SERVICE IS TERRIBLE. OWNERS ARE UNFRIENDLY AND MISERABLE (apparently people of colour have experienced this more from what my friends who've been here have experienced and what I witnessed myself, they definitely seemed nicer to white folks) - they allow dogs which is nice and the only reason we went because I had heard bad reviews from people before but their husky roams around off leash and came to our table, growled at my Chihuahua and scared the heck out of us I had to yell for the unfriendly owner to come get her dog and when she did she didn't apologize instead told me to get one of my dogs down off the furniture (he was there because her dog scared him). Absolutely horrible experience - service is next to none, nobody tried to be welcoming in anyway despite celebrating a bday - not even a happy birthday wish from the owner server. We won't be returning and I encourage my fellow yelpers not to waste their time supporting people who do not know a thing about restaurant service and hospitality. read more

We had reservations for 4 people . We drove 45 - 60 minutes to get there . When we got there , the lady at the entrance said the lunch was closed , you should have got the email . We didn't , we even proved to her . No apology, so sad . All four of us were really looking forward to the ambience. We will never try to go there again . Just left a bad taste ! read more

WINE GONE SOUR This is not a place I would recommend period! I ordered online, because I have respiratory problems so my friend went to pick up my order (and hers) and because of a mistake Ripples made, Faith (a Ripples employee), cancelled my online order (not my friends) and told my friend my Visa would be refunded. Then, after Faith phoned me and tried to make me responsible for Ripples mistake on a separate order (remember I haven't left my house or received my orders); I asked to hear back from the owners. I have tried to call on numerous occasions only to get a recording with a full inbox as well as sent 2 emails requesting my due refund for my last unfulfilled order. I have never received any communication from the owners to sort this out - only complete silence! To give such terrible customer service is one thing, but to risk ones' reputation by stealing from one's Visa by not fulfilling an online order is taking it a step too far! Not only have I put in a dispute for the money they charged to my Visa, and of course by putting in this absolutely terrible review that I give no stars based on their unethical behaviour coupled with their total lack of service that has likewise been mentioned in other reviews I will also be reporting Ripples to Consumer Affairs. It's a shame that a business that touts the fact that it is a "family" run business doesn't follow up with their customer satisfaction or lack thereof.... LOWKEY RACIST AND RUDE- I went there for my birthday with my cousins. We had made a reservation for 6 people but ended up being 7 people. When we went there, despite the reservation, we were made to wait around 15-20 minutes saying that a table was not available for big parties. We requested the guy on the front if we could add an extra chair to our table, they suggested we could do two tables of 4 and 3 away from each other, as they charge $20 per person just to sit parties bigger than 6 people. We agreed to that as it was a Saturday evening and everything was booked. The table they gave us was a joke, it was two tiny tables put together. It was a very hot day, and they only gave us one small bottle of water with 3 glasses. When we requested another table or an umbrella, none was available (Parties of 4 were given bigger tables than us). The servers were lowkey rude and racist, as we didn't see anyone else there get treated the way we were. So if you brown, and want to spend a good evening, don't even bother going there. You can have a much better day or evening somewhere else for $400. read more

We went on Friday night for a Tiki night event. You buy a ticket for $10 and that gets you a seat. After we were seated the waitress took our drink order and never came back. After 35 minutes another server noticed and finally brought out the wrong wine flight for my wife. read more
