Loavely warm afternoon with a glass of wine and some nibbles. A fair size portion of meat and cheese with condiments and crackers. So lovely to have something to snack on while tasting the long list of wines. The backyard feel is so relaxing and bright. Take a trip to this lovely destination for a quiet afternoon with a few drinks. Definitely a do over!

Great addition for a wine tasting experience. Service is excellent and dog friendly too. Great for parties and get together. Was raining when we went however, the place is perfect for a drink or two.

I received a bottle of their house blend -- 'Nosey Neighbour Red' -- from the daughter for Christmas. It's a blend of some great reds -- Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon. There is a caption on the bottle's back label, that states - "Sit Back, Relax, and Enjoy!" - and that definitely sounded like a plan to do soon. Looks like today is 'the' day -- my first taste was just poured, and tried, and I am so glad I did not wait any longer. Rich in colour, full-bodied, and so flavourful. Next tastes await an upcoming happy hour this afternoon, where I can more truly "Sit Back, Relax, and Enjoy" more!! Hopefully, some time soon in the new year, daughter and I will get out to 'Backyard Vineyards' for an on-the-scene look, browse, and shop.

Came on a busy day in May last year. We were not part of a tour but the staff were able to greet us and help us with some wine tasting despite the big crowd. I really liked their backyard and vineyard area - spacious with picnic tables where you can relax and lounge. Their menu has some nice charcuterie items and they also have a gazebo area where you can sit and be served as well. Full review: https://sincerelyloewe.com/wine-tasting-in-langley/

I finally got a chance to come and check out Backyard Vineyards! I believe they literally are our backyard neighbors...if not...very close! I have had a few of their wines before so it was really nice see their beautiful tasting room and have a little wine tasting! I would have to say that the Bacchus wine was probably my favourite! It was neat to taste and hear about qthe difference in how Backyard used the Bacchus grape that they source from another local vineyard! Bacchus is one of my favourite wines...I liked that Backyard's version tends to be a bit more dry. The Sparkling Rosé was really nice as well! The girls were super knowledgeable with the wines and very hospitable. I actually came in to pick up a generous donation for a local community event and they invited me to have a wine tasting while I was there! The patio area is lovely as well. I can see how it would be a lovely place to spend a warm afternoon with a charcuterie board and a glass of wine! Thank for treating me so well...will definitely be back!

Pleasantly surprised and blown away by Backyard Vineyards. We came here for a relaxing afternoon away from the city, and loved it! Walking into the Vineyard, the tasting room is set up to the right, and you're able to taste 4 wines for $4 - so naturally we decided to taste 8 wines amongst the 2 of us. After the tasting, we opted to share a bottle of Gerwurztraminer and a cheese + charcuterie plate to enjoy outside on the picnic tables. They deducted our tastings from our total price, which was nice! The cheese plate had 4 different cheeses and 4 different meats, delicious! Coming from NJ, we're avid winery go-ers, (though, usually low expectation-NJ-wine-drinkers), and we loved Backyard Vineyards! This would be an amazing spot to have in our neck of the woods. The place was fun, low key, and delicious wine. We ended up tasting 4 reds, 4 whites, and then bonus tasted the brut! Below are my thoughts. Whites :: Blanc de Noir Brut - Handmade the hard way ('methode traditionnelle') from 100% Estate grown Pinot Noir with notes of brioche, biscuit and apples. Pacific Rim Wine Competition - SILVER. Light and clean, very drinkable bubbly. :: Nosey Neighbor White - Lemon gold wine offers aromas of lemon, lime, tangerine zest, melon, apple, cantaloupe, and honeycomb. On the palate, the 2017 blend is a medium-plus bodied with wonderful balance, persistent acidity and flavor profile of candied apple, lychee nut, orange rind, pear, and apricot. Clean, crisp, delicious. :: Reisling - Light gold wine with hues of lemon, the 2016 vintage is characterized by high-toned aromatics of nectarines, apricots, Meyer lemon, and a beautiful bouquet of white flowers. On the palate, the wine shows strong notes of lemon, pear, mandarin oranges, and honeycomb. The nectarine was the first thing we tasted - it was clean, crisp, and super yummy. Second favorite wine! :: Rose - Made with 100% Pinot Noir. A light pink appearance leads into a bouquet of orange rind, watermelon, strawberry, and pomegranate. Ripe raspberry, figs, marzipan, plum, and blueberry dominate the mouth. GREAT rose - drinkable, almost dry - not too sweet. :: Gerwurztraminer - Pale yellow wine carries the classic aromas of rose petal, lychee nuts, Ruby Red grapefruit, as well as mango and citrus notes. This vintage greets the palate with notes of allspice, honey, orange, apricot, pineapple, and cantaloupe. We tasted the lychee, pineapple, and cantaloupe. This was our favorite wine - we grabbed a bottle to enjoy outside! Reds: :: Nosey Neighbor Red - Deep ruby red shows characteristics of strawberry, ripe red cherry, plums, cedar, tobacco leaf, and a dried herbal life on the nose. :: Merlot - Nuanced nose of cedar, cinnamon, cloves, red plum, raspberry, cherry pie, leather, and espresso with a plush palate of crushed raspberry, black cherry, smoky vanilla, pomegranate, and cocoa. :: Cabernet Franc - A deep ruby Cabernet Franc with intense aromas of ripe plum, blackberries, cedar, cloves, tobacco leave, and black tea. On the palate, it's profound structure lends itself to rich and vivid flavors of raspberry, blueberries, black cherry, black licorice, and dark chocolate. :: Reserve Cabernet Franc - Decanter World Wine Award - BRONZE Nose: Inky purple opaque, strawberry, roasted red pepper, cloves, black licorice. Palate: Ripe black fruit, such as blackberry, black cherries, plums, and herbs.

I came here with a friend for a wine tour and tasting. It was a sunny afternoon on Labour Day weekend. The vineyard was lovely and our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. There is a covered patio area if you want to relax outside. We each had a platter with cheese, fruit, nuts, and chocolate to pair with the wine we were tasting. We took our time with the food and wine. Since we weren't in a rush, they gave us even more wine to try (other people in our tour group had left already). I took home a bottle of the Nosey Neighbour white and red. It was a really nice way to spend the afternoon.

Wine is below our expectations but its a nice place to chill and hang out if you want to relax with a group of friends on a nice sunny afternoon.

Unfortunately the tasting of 6 different flavored mead made us a bit too woozy to go across to Township 7 vineyards for more wine tasting. Luckily there's a traveling tea shop on the lawn where we could sober up with some high tea food or sandwiches or charcuterie board. I never realized there are quite a fair bit of wineries in the Langley/Abbotsford area. You don't really need to go far to kelowna if you're short on time. We also saw horses out here. Too cute. And really a wonderful way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon. This place specializes in mead. You can be a club member and there are special meads for members. They do a tasting for $10 which is waived with purchase of a bottle ($26). I love how the staff will tell a story or origins of the name for their different meads. Dry mead -- the original. I tend towards sweeter alcohol and I'm surprised I could drink this. Not overly sweet. It is light and crisp with a bit of bubbly (not fizzy) to me. Very refreshing. Ginger mead -- I like ginger but not in this mead. A bit herbal to me. Lavender mead -- it's the prettiest with the violet hue. It smells of lavender but the taste sticks for the longest time for me. Cranberry mead -- a light orange pink color. It's very tart. Vinum Regum -- 2 versions, we tried the reserved one which is aged for 90 days in oak barrel so it has a Smokey flavor like whiskey. It's really strong for me. Lvna (Luna) -- mulled mead which has winter spices like mulled wine. This is the sweetest. Very nice. They have other fruity flavors like pear. Lovely staff and definitely come here if you want some uncommon flavored mead.

Blackwood Lane was our last winery tour stop and it was a good experience. We were the only people…read morethere and the lady assisting us was very pleasant and explained all the wines well. They have a few different tasting options and I opted for the lower end as I was uninterested in what they considered their high experience. It had a couple more red wine additions and honestly red wine isn't my favorite. The property was nice except for clear cutting of trees in the back which made me wonder what will happen in the future since the embankment is at a slope and since nothing will grow for months combined with frequent rain it seems like setting up for landslide conditions. That didn't make much sense to me. The vehicle outfitted in front for "zombies" seemed to attract the most attention, more than their wines. It was cool but also a bit out of place.

Before coming to Blackwood Lane, I knew they would be $$$ compared to the usual $$ pricing you can…read moreusually expect at a winery. I probably should have done more research before coming here, as I probably would have stopped myself from going. There were a few tasting options- $5 for three whites, $10 for two white and three reds, or if you really want to spend your money, $20 for for 7 reds. I went for the $10 deal, as I figured I should try some reds as well as whites. The lady helping was nice, and spoke upon the wines and winery as I did my tasting. This is pretty standard however, and I can't say it was anything special. One of the whites was made with sea buckthorn, which has many health benefits and they will tell you about this while tasting. Now at all the wineries I've been to in Langley, when you purchase a bottle of wine, the tasting fee will be waived. When I asked the lady if the fee would be waived if I bought a bottle, she hesitated, and said it depended on the bottle. I bought a $24 bottle, for which she waived $5 of my tasting fee. When I went to pay, there was a tip option!!!!!!! WHAT?!?!?! It's that stupid tipping option which presets the percentages. I didn't want to look cheap and most of all didn't want to insult the lady helping me, so I selected the min, which was still 15%, bringing my tip to just over $4....... Never have I seen a tip option at a wine tasting and the fact that my tip was on my wine purchase AND wine tasting experience made me very annoyed. Be aware of this if you come here. My $24 wine and $5 tasting fee turned into a $33 purchase after tip. After my experience my friend sent me a post from their website about their candle lit tours for $30 which will be starting April 1, advertised to come with "FREE PIZZA". I believe if you're paying a fee beforehand in order to access some of that pizza, IT AIN'T FREE! There are better wineries than Blackwood Lane, and if you're reading this review, check out Chaberton Estate winery which is a few minutes away. You will be able to treat yourself AND a friend to sample 5 wines, purchase a good bottle of wine, and still spend only $20 or so, just as I did.
